The Seventh Guarantee

Posted on Thu Feb 27th, 2020 @ 9:37pm by Fleet Captain Torilla Yamaguchi

Mission: Mission 28: Those who Remain
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 0900Hrs - February 21st, 2391

For her first day officially on duty again after her two breakdowns, the first was her falling apart and the second was her going insane from the rage that had built up over a certain length of time.

It was the second incident that had been the more damming of the two and now she was sure she was persona non grata. It was also known in the plural sense as 'personae non gratae'

Torilla was dressed in her uniform as normal but she was wearing the pants and a simple pair of heels, nothing overly elaborate but she looked almost ill.

She tapped the doorchime.

"Enter," Zara called out while she went over a mountain of ship repair and supply requests.

The door opened as Torilla Yamaguchi came in. "Mornin' Skipper." she commented as she produced a small PADD which she then handed to Zara. "April sent over a crate to the Roanoke last night.. she said something about hospitality." The taller woman explained. "Also within is repayment for drinking your booze and smoking your cigars..." she paused. "that is a complete list.." Torilla indicated the PADD on the desk.

"How she got all of that past Starbase Security, I will never know... because I plan to not ask." as she stood in place and began to fidget ever so slightly.

"April has similar connections I have," Zara laughed, but then pointed to an empty chair. "Sit. Tell me what's going on, My Friend. Please?"

Yamaguchi sat down in a nearby chair as she closed her eyes. 'How do I explain this...' she thought to herself. "I don't know..."

"You and I are good now. You know that, right?" Zara reminded her.

"You and I might be..." Torilla responded. "I came up here and assaulted you...and... I liked it... What I did was unforgivable."

"Forgivable," Zara corrected. "Not something I'll forget about for a while. But then again, you're going through a transition you were never prepared for. Neither was Phoenix. Which is why I'm not angry with you."

Torilla blinked. "I'm gonna go hang out with Phoenix.... remind her that she's not alone.. With Siaxx off the ship... and Rachael with her... its only wise... I know Beth has been busy with it thus far.... How was her wedding?" she paused. "I know you were there for it."

"I'm a Trill, so I'm not sure how to judge a human wedding. But it was very tribal," Zara answered nervously. "I didn't think it was right for you not to be there."

Torilla regarded the smaller woman. "Elizabeth felt it best that her wedding be a small and private thing, between her and Kameron. She mentioned that you had to be there as you are her Captain." the larger woman explained. "I was able to wrangle a massive reception out of her though... I'm going to make her pay for her insolence of course." she slowly smiled. "I'm going to bring in every single last Yamaguchi I can get my hands on... and throw a party the likes of which this ship... has never seen...."

"I'll bring the hooch," Zara snickered.

"Elizabeth did tell me and Jake what was going on... Kameron came to us both and asked us both for permission to marry Elizabeth, I confess... I was mystified." she paused. "I had no idea that humans were so... strange.. Despite the fact that I married and have had children with a human.." Torilla simply shrugged.

"They can be a bit strange, yes." Zara nodded in agreed. "Jacen and I had an unexpected one as well... One I'm not all that thrilled about."

Torilla blinked her eyes. "Wait... what?" clearly surprised by that statement. "You and Jacen Saint...got married?"

"We were really drunk when it happened," Zara spoke sheepishly. "Can't say I'm thrilled with it either. My mother wanted to kill me too, come to think of it."

Torilla was confused, the look on her face said as much. "My brain just bluescreened." she admitted. "I cannot believe it... " she sighed.

"I still don't," Zara frowned. "I drunk-called my mom in the middle of a Federation Council meeting... Needless to say she was not impressed."

Torilla rose to her feet as she went over to the replicator, muttering something in her native tongue that the translator deigned not to translate. "Computer... one submarine sandwich, cold cuts and cheese....triple helpings of both... and a pint of Coke-Cola." she received her food as she went over to Zara's desk. "I need a drink..." and with that she picked up half of the sub and began eating it while indicating the other half was for Zara.

"Yeah... Getting high and drinking didn't erase that fact for me," Zara confirmed. "Jacen likes the idea though... not entirely sure I know why though."

Torilla shook her head. "You... are unbelievable.." as she crunched her way through her food. "Who's idea was this insanity?"

"I've no fucking clue. We were both so drunk and high we don't really remember that part," Zara spoke in a deadpan.

Torilla meanwhile finished her sub off. "Mmm... thats good. I see Ra'Vak earned his pay for the week..." she licked her fingers before draining half the drink from her glass. "So... are you two going to make this work?"

"He wants to... I don't know, really. Never saw myself settling down," Zara shrugged off.

Torilla regarded Zara with a look that was one part pity and the other was amusement as a smile appeared on the larger womans face. "Now I know you're insane.... on a side note... I'm going to stick in a request for a whirlpool bathtub.." she commented. "to help with my.... back issues.." the excuse was clearly a load of rubbish, both women knew this.

"Well... I'd like to have use of my own tube, alone ever now and then," Zara teased. "Approved. You'll want to talk to that crazy engineer to get in put in soonish though."

"Well... sometimes what I need at the end of a long day is a nice soak in boiling hot water.... something to soak away my troubles... at least until I drain the tub and dry off." she sighed. "I'll go see Ra'Vak about it then and ask him to stick it on his to-do list." she paused. "I heard you got inked..." Torilla raised an eyebrow. "You feel like sharing that little story.... apparently Kameron and Elizabeth got tattoos as well."

"Umm... Well..." Zara blushed as she looked at her feet. "I wish I could remember those details, but it was part of a tribal marriage ritual. Popular with humans, mostly."

Torilla raised an eyebrow. "So.... let me get this right.." the larger woman paused. "you got drunk... got inked... got married and.." she paused a second time. "Zara.... you can't be serious.."

"I think that's the reason Romulan Ale is illegal," Zara noted in a deadpan.

Torilla chuckled softly. "I know why its illegal.... how do you think Elizabeth came along in the first place?"

"Meh... Well Jacen's in some sport of secret meeting right now with some admiral I've never heard of," Zara spoke with a shrug. "Maybe he'll take Jacen for a while. Fuck knows I want my quarters to myself."

Torilla nodded. "Well... I'd best go pester the guys in Engineering.. See if I can't get them to change my bathroom before they start praying to the warp core or antimatter or ... whatever flavor of the month is this time."

"I try not to sort out their religion," Zara noted with a flinch. "Creepy bunch."

"I think the Messiah needs to get laid." Torilla responded with a coy smile. "I can .... assist him with his.... issues.."

"Not without hazard pay," Zara laughed.

"Hazard Pay, Wartime pay, danger pay. plus flight bonus.... plus whatever else I can think up." the taller woman chuckled softly.

"You're just weird," Zara teased.

"So are you." Torilla answered with a smile.

"Seriously though... We're going to be OK, Torilla," Zara promised.

"In time.." Yamaguchi answered. "You feel we'll be fine but... I must work through my issues and troubles in my own time.." Torilla sighed.
