Mission: Mission 22: Quarantine
Location: Various Locations - Starfleet intelligence Headquarters
Timeline: 0800Hrs - January 18th, 2391

Fleet Command Master Chief Sali Kuyo walked into Admiral Kurso Teska's office, saying," Here's the report on the Breen virus that you asked for."

"Kurso nodded," Thanks," As he took the report. Taking his time to read through it, he finally said," Yeah, talk about a nasty bug, huh."

Sali sat down in the chair next to Kurso," Yeah, Fleet C&C, Admiral Jellico is calling for all out war against the Breen, he is not happy about this."

Kurso took a sip of his drink," Yeah, so is half the council and a good chunk of the admiralty. I am one of them."

Sali leaned back in her chair," We have been too nice with the Breen anyway." Giving a short pause, she then continued," So, have they decided who the new Director for Starfleet intel is going to be yet."

Kurso shook his head, having been getting increasingly annoyed with the situation. The last Director, Admiral Holland, had been sacked from the director's chair nearly 4 months ago and forced to retire. The problem Kurso had with it, was the charges where bullshit and false. He knew Holland quite well, and Holland had supported him in reconstructing Intel, so he knew damn well the corruption charges where bullshit. It was a political maneuver by someone that didn't like him and Kurso knew it. Since that incident he had been sitting in the director's seat, but never actually officially appointed to the job.

Normally it was the secretary of defense that appointed these positions, and as far as Kurso was concerned, Sec Dev was a spineless paper pusher anyway. But four months on stalling on appointing a new director of Intel was testing even Kurso's legendary patience. Never before had he ever seen this happen. At most it would take a month, never four.

But what was really bothering Kurso, was the level of political maneuvering going on was higher than he had ever seen it. Admirals where being shifted around at a much more frequent rate, more seats on the federation council where contested than he had ever seen it. Numerous members of President Nanietta Bacco's cabinet had mysterious corruption charges brought against them or some other random scandal. President Bacco herself, after three successful terms, declined to run again. A lot of hopeful candidates for both the council and the presidential runs here having lots of various scandals and allegations leveled against them. Kurso couldn't quite put his finger on, but he couldn't help but think there was some kind of political agenda going on, one the could be more serious than normal. But as to what this agenda was, he didn't have a clue.

Kurso got up from the chair, saying" Well, I am going to make a few calls, see you in a bit.

Sali nodded as Kurso walked out of the room. Heading over to the comms station, he noticed someone hiding in the shadows, and he knew who the man was. They once approached him, wanting to recruit him into their organization. Needless to say, Kurso had little interest in being apart of their illegal club, but he tolerated their existence. It was Section 31 after all, and he knew that there was no way he could bring them down anyway. Besides, on occasion, they had been helpful.

Without looking at the man, Kurso commented," What do you want Logan."

The man known as Logan stepped ever so slightly out of the shadow, with a smile," Lot of politics going on lately huh."

"Whats it to you."

Logan slowly crossed his arms," You know, I would have figured you would be director by now, since Holland got sacked."

Kurso sighed," No, he was set up, but you already knew that."

Logan leaned on a nearby wall, "Pity, he was a decent man after all. one of the few competent directors around."

Kurso still didn't look at him," Whats your point."

"Well just saying, there is a lot of political maneuvering going on, think someone has a major agenda going on."

Kurso was not very forthcoming," If there is some hidden agenda, then you probably know more than I do."

Logan put a finger to his chin," Well, there is something actually."

Kurso's ears perked up in curiosity.

Logan continued with," Well, its actually where all these busted politicians are going after they get jailed."

Kurso sighed," What of it."

"Find out where they are going, You may find some good clues there, But i'll give you a hint, Lieutenant Colonel Jillian Sullivan, was once imprisoned there."

With that, Logan disappeared into the dark, leaving Kurso to think of the situation. If section 31 was taking interest in this situation, it had to be bad. Kurso decided however, he would still make his calls. Unfortunately he didn't know Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan much, other than that she was a fighter pilot serving on the same ship as Teval, and that she was former maquis, but otherwise he hadn't really paid much attention to her.

First person he decided to contact was an old friend of his, Fleet Admiral April Yamaguchi. H opened up a secure comm channel to April.

On Starbase Twelve. April Yamaguchi was wearing her uniform tank top and a skirt, she was also taking a moment to do some stretching which she often found helped her think more clearly. The com system beeped at her as she sighed. "It never ends..." she tapped the display at her desk before going over to the large wall monitor.

She activated the display, finding herself face to face with an old friend. "Kurso... To what do I owe this small pleasure?" she inquired with a smile.

Kurso decided to get straight to the point, "Hey April, unfortunately nothing really of pleasure. I am sure you are aware of the unusual number of political sandals going off this election year, and the number of admirals getting moved around is quite high."

"Yes... I have been aware of it.." April paused as a sigh escaped her lips. "Its been a concern of mine for quite some time... Maybe I'm just being paranoid.." she raised an eyebrow which he knew meant one of two things, either she was making idle conversation or that she seriously believed something was afoot. "Or maybe... something's up."

"Yeah, something is up, considering that section 31 seems to be interested," Kurso added bluntly

"Lovely." April sighed softly. "So... there is indeed a plot brewing.." the taller human woman paused. "any ideas on details or do you think its too soon for the players to emerge?"

Kurso answered honestly," Unfortunately no, its too soon because no political agenda has really shown itself. So I can't be sure who is really responsible, but I have a slight idea. If there is an agenda to be had, at this scale, there are few organizations that can pull it off, all of them, are foreign intelligence agencies. the Klingon's couldn't do it, the Romulan Tal Shiar is largely destroyed thanks to Romulan infighting, we haven't heard much suggesting that the obsidian order is still active, the Breen are a possibility, or it may be an external power that we don't fully know about. Or it could be a 31 ruse, so that they can do the government the way that they like."

Yamaguchi paused. "Yes... That does narrow down the list of players doesn't it." she then smiled.

Kurso admitted," Yeah, unfortunately, there is not a lot to work with right now. But I will say this, Watch your back April. If whoever is pulling the strings cannot bribe you, then they probably will try to get rid of you, It already happened to Admiral Holland."

April nodded her head, clearly taking the threat seriously. "Indeed..." she paused. "Where is Urban these days anyway?" she inquired.

Kurso gave a serious look, "That's the problem, they said he was jailed, but the one that they supposedly sent him to, he isn't there."

April raised an eyebrow. "Oh shit.." she hissed angrily. "Find him Kurso... no doubt you are already but... if he has gone missing... then we might end up facing a dire threat from the inside."

Kuso nodded, "Yeah, I will, just be careful over the next little while."

April nodded. "I will... thanks for the heads up." the look on her face said she was annoyed but not at the messenger. "Keep your eyes open for Urban... If he appears...?" she inquired.

Kurso nodded, then closed the comm channel, not really sure of what to do next.
