Rachael, Kaylee and Xavier

Mission: Mission 8: Hope Found and then Lost
Location: Various Locations - Starbase 400
Timeline: 2100Hrs - April 11th, 2389

Rachael Yamaguchi was sitting at the table enjoying dinner with her two charges, Tressa Brislan's two adopted children, it was something she enjoyed as it helped to keep her mentally stable and down to Earth or Kaleb or whatever the planet they orbited was called.

Rachael raised an eyebrow as she thought 'Pass the salt please', the dinner itself was an experiment in using their minds to talk rather then their mouths, Rachael had hit on the idea earlier that day as she wanted to teach her two charges about their abilities.

So far it was working rather well but the silence was stifling as Rachael looked at the two children seated at dinner before her as they ate their food. 'so... how was school today?' she thought to them rather then saying to them.

The twins enjoyed the new game; it was like a special secret.

'Jaxom got caught passing a note in class!' Xavier offered enthusiastically. Kaylee giggled.

'Nice. what happened?.. I don't have enough drama in my life.' Rachael inquired silently as she munched her way through a hunk of a burger as she listened in silence.

'He had to stay late and his mom said no vid games for three days, he said,' laughing out loud.

'Vid games aren't a big deal anyway,' Kaylee replied as Xavier gave her a dirty look.

Rachael smiled in amusement. 'Xavier. There is more to life then video games.. but... If you want good games... stuff that'll break your brain.'
she then smiled evilly as she regarded the younger child 'Have you ever heard of a game series called Command and Conquer.?'

The boy cocked his head, and his jaw dropped slightly. 'That's a grownup game.'

'I'll talk to Gabriel and have him mail he his set. The collection he has come to him as a gift from my Aunt Talon.' Rachael paused a moment 'She never said where she get it from but considering she used to be with Temporal affairs... one has to wonder '

'We could play it?' the boy thought, his excitement showing.

Rachael regarded him with a look. 'If Gabriel agrees to give me one of his most prized possessions. If not... I'll ask him for a copy but I'm sure he'll agree.... you ever heard of command and conquer.... you like real-time strategy games?'

'I've never played those.'

'Well... the trouble is... they are quite mature and they have some content that even I'm too young for... so I'll see what Gabriel has and I'll get back to you okay... there are a couple of games he has that I know you can play.' she thought to him as she turned to Kaylee. 'What about you... you're being very quiet over there.... would you like anything?'

Kaylee smiled. 'I don't really play vid games.'

Rachael looked at the younger girl as she raised an eyebrow. 'Then we need to find something that you can enjoy...' she paused 'What subjects in school do you like?'

'I like science! I love to read stories too.' She grinned, and Xavier snorted.

Rachael slowly smiled. 'Science....mmmm... I have a few old textbooks you might like to read... but they are for grade six through eight.' she explained.

'I like to visit the Science lab, sometimes Aunt Tressa takes me.' Kaylee said.

I've been thinking about Starfighters myself. Rachael admitted. 'Dad was a Tactical Officer, so was Mom... Gabriel is carrying on that tradition with his wife, Savannah, who is an Operations Officer' she added.

'That sounds cool!' Xavier said.

'I fly the things often enough in sims. I wonder what it would be like to fly for real.?. With that she let out a sigh, the only sound made during dinner. You guys are doing really well. I'm very impressed.'

The twins shared a look and smiled. We practice. Racheal felt them say in unison.

'Good. as you should.' Rachael commented silently.

A smile flew across Rachael's face 'Outstanding' she thought to her young charges, since her mother and Tressa were off the station had simply moved in here with these two as she was now watching over them and while she herself was only thirteen and still going through her time of blooming, she was still able to handle it.
