Vice Admiral Paul Emerson sighed softly as he regarded the black, space where his old friend had just been displayed a moment earlier, after ending the communications link with Starbase Vanguard, he quickly adjusted how he was sitting in his chair. "Computer display all capital class ship names in the ninety-second fleet and their missions. Display on-screen when finished." Emerson ordered in a low voice.

"Working." came the answer from the computer. "Results ready."

Emerson sighed softly. Many of his ships were committed to patrolling duties which were what he had expected when he suddenly noticed that the USS Infinity had no assignment as yet. He tapped his combadge, stuck in the request for a call to the commander of the Infinity and moments went by before he waited for the handsome Vulcan female to answer, she did as Emerson smiled. "T'Shaamet, its been a while, how ya been?" he inquired of the Vulcan female who had a more emotional outlook on life rather then the flat and boring approach that most Vulcan's took, she had also been among Jake's senior staff which he had assembled in the years after the Dominion War, Jake, and Paul had between them, helped to hone and train over two dozen men and women into a group that either man could rely upon to produce results. What's more, they had all worked together and lived together, and some of those people had coupled off and had families as a result of the Courageous.

T'Shaamet regarded Emerson with the closest she could get to a smile, while it was no Cheshire grin, it was a soft and gentle smile. "Paul, I was just thinking of you," she commented in a rather light tone. "I wondered when I would get my orders."

"Well, its due to your skills and who you are... that got you a rather unusual assignment;... I need a highly skilled ship and crew as the mission I am asking you to consider is exceptionally dangerous." Emerson commented evenly. "But if the mission succeeds, then we could prevent conflict before one starts." he picked up the PADD and sent her the file that Jake had sent to him, the details of the assignment in question. "Infinity will travel alone... You'll have several mission objectives... I ask a great deal of you and your crew T'Shaamet... But you are the only ship free..."

"I'll take it." the Vulcan woman answered in a quiet tone of voice. "Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt," she added, a quote from Shakespeare.

"Fair enough. Hows Jackson doing?" Paul inquired after his old friend.

"Jackson is doing better, he has good days and bad days Paul," T'Shaamet answered quietly. "I help as best as I can... He has changed..." she admitted. "I do not like to admit it but he is not the man I once knew... However, he has not given me cause to wonder if his love for me has faded or how he has missed our son. Even though Evoras is not his by blood... He spends more time with T'Rama then I do. I do not begrudge him this however, it helps him remain centered" T'Shaamet slowly smiled. "I am also planning child number three, I know he wants a son, so I will provide him with one."

"Just like that?" Emerson inquired, a gentle smile on his lips.

"Well, that and my deputy Chief Medical Officer who has been deeply involved in the matter." Now the Vulcan did smile. "I will help Jackson through the shadows of the dark forest he is in and guide him back to what he lost... Whatever it takes." the small female explained. "Plus, the sex has been amazingly therapeutic for him and me."

"Good," Emerson answered he knew that T'Shaamet was a small woman with a petite frame. "I've been concerned about you and Jackson for a while now."

"Understandable." T'Shaamet knew why her old friend would be concerned and she decided to not argue or fight with him on the matter. "Anyway sir, I will accept this assignment and all it entails."

"Very well, head for Starbase Vanguard. Fleet Admiral Duval will handle your various needs and wants. Good luck T'Shaamet."

"Indeed sir, for all our sakes... Infinity out." and with that, the die was cast and the game was set into motion.
