Posted on Sun Mar 15th, 2020 @ 9:00am by Master Chief Petty Officer Ranav Dvald-Grenix & Post Captain Heris Dvald

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Dvald Quarters - Starbase Watchman
Timeline: 1200Hrs - May 15th, 2393

Commander Heris Dvald was almost finished making lunch as she placed a jug of Bolian spice water onto the table, she had decided long ago that her family should eat their meals together and she never wavered from that, which meant she prefeed that all of her children ate at the dinner table but she wasn't a stickler for that rule, she had relaxed it as her children had gotten older. Heris did not mind if they ate while working or off with their friends but most of the time, they ate dinner at the table because it allowed her family to remain close, as a family should.

Heris had opted for slices of bread, cheeses, and meats, she wanted to keep things simple as she knew this meal would be anything but nice, warm and cozy with her husband and children around her, it was when she was going to be giving them more bad news. New that she knew was going to upset them.

The door opened as in walked Duran who's name was pronounced as 'Dur'ran'. "hey sweetie." Heris greeted her eldest.

"Who pissed you off, mom?" Duran inquired of his mother, he could read her like a book and she did not mind at times, now, however, was not the best of times. "I'll tell when everyone is here and ready to eat, not before. So go clean up and come back when you're ready to eat." Heris responded, using a little more force then she wanted, he did not provoke her but she was already in a bad mood.

"Yeah, mom." Duran knew better than to provoke his mother when she was already upset, mostly because he wasn't stupid and while he was sixteen years old, it did not give him the right to back talk to her. Also, he knew his mother was stubborn and would not speak on what was bothering her until she was ready to tell, nothing he said or did, would change this. "I'll be right back." and with that, the teenager fled into his room.

As the teen retreated, the front door opened and in walked Dvald-Grenix and their other kids. "What did you say to him?" Dvald-Grenix inquired of his spouse, regarding his eldest son.

"Nothing, other than telling him to clean up." the tall female Bolian let out a sigh. "Lunch is ready, that goes for the rest of you... Your dad and I got some news that we need to share. You guys are all involved with the issue as well so... Go on and clean up. Be quick about it." Dvald said to her children, she did not like being pushy but she wanted this bad news aired and the sooner it was done, the better of things would be. "Don't worry, you're not in trouble with anyone. If that's what you're worried about."

"Oh.. Okay mom." Syldra Dvald, her youngest smiled as she breathed a sigh of relief. "Whew, I thought it was something we did."

"If it were, I'd say it now and I wouldn't bother with lunch," Heris responded. "Go change. I'm waiting." Dvald added in a light tone.

"Yes, mom." and with that, the remaining children scattered to their rooms as Dvald-Grenix moved over to his wife. "You seem upset."

"I'm still pissed off but they didn't cause it," Dvald answered quietly, referring to her children, meanwhile the door opened and out came her eldest son. Duran went to the replicator, he ordered a sports drink and he went to the table where he sat down in his usual spot, he settled in to wait as he closed his eyes and seemed to fade into a trance-like state.

Dvald watched her son with envy in her eyes. "I wish I could do that," she commented in a dry tone of voice.

"I'm just meditating mom," Dvald commented evenly. "I find a few moments can really help me when I'm working on a school project,"
he explained. "Or when I'm dealing with... Other issues."

"Yes, your dad and I have noticed how your grades keep improving," Dvald commented, as she commented on that detail, the other children began taking their seats at the table as Dvald sighed softly, now she would need to tell the news to her children. "Okay, now that everyone is here. Your father and I have been reassigned to Starbase Vanguard, a new Starbase that's been commissioned and will enter service shortly. We leave tomorrow." the tall female Bolian explained patiently.

"Figures." Dorin sighed softly as he helped himself to a hunk of bread, then some cheese and meat. "We arrive, just settle in and then this again, How many times has it been now?" her second child demanded in an annoyed tone of voice.

Heris regarded her second child as he lost his temper "Three times," Dvald answered her son. "In the last two years." the tall Bolian female let out a soft sigh. "The assignment to the Akurian battlecruiser was a temp posting and we all knew that going into it." the tall female explained to her children. "Hey, I dislike it as much as you do but sometimes we get orders and we leave, it happens," Dvald explained to her children.

"It doesn't mean we need to like this, mom," Dorin responded, he was the one with all of the emotion where his twin brother was much more reserved which at times, Heris did appreciate the fact that Duran was more controlled and stoic then his brother but it would be nice if some of that could rub off on Dorin, now would be an excellent time for it.

Darzana Dvald, was her oldest daughter, smiled. "It'll be alright, besides, we get to hang out with and torment Auntie Siaxx." she paused. "Did I say that out loud."

Duran nodded his bald head. "Yes, that's true. From what I hear, she could use a little time with family,"

Heris sighed softly. "Siaxx is still assigned to the Stalingrad with your grandmother," she commented as she sat down at the table, her children were presently doing likewise as Ranav sat down next to his wife. "How is Siaxx anyway?" Dvald-Grenix inquired of his wife.

"She's still having issues coping with recent events," Heris answered softly before the tall female let out a soft sigh. "I don't blame her either."

"It'll be good to see aunt Siaxx again if we do," Duran commented with a smile. "So, we pack tonight then?"

"No. I'm keeping you all home from school so you guys can have a decent chance to pack up your stuff and we leave tomorrow morning," Heris explained. "Now we eat."

Ranav nodded. "We always encouraged you to pack light and this was why" he explained to his children. "It sucks that we're in a rush but remember guys, that we're in an even bigger rush then you are," he explained as he indicated the dozen or so crates with his right thumb. "Alright, let's eat. We got a lot to do but not a lot of time to do it."
