Torilla suddenly grinned at her daughter. "Yes. The other reason why those wars were given those names," Torilla answered, a grim smile on her face. "You need to understand honey, these flights had command of entire armies, entire fleets of ships. Entire continents were at their beck and call." she paused a moment. "Thats when the Black flight went too far. They were the ones who started the Unification Wars. They said they should be the dominant flight and all others should serve them, and when the others refused. They called up their armies and declared for it. The bloodbath that followed was beyond anything I've ever seen. Only Earth's first world war was anything close. Trench warfare was common except it was across three continents." Torilla then sighed. She then inhaled a deep breath. This indicated she had a great deal more to say about the matter at hand. "All of the other flights were dragged into the war, with many suffering extensive losses. That was until after six years and eight million dead... An entire generation was slaughtered at the hands of war, and all it did was harden the divides between us, rather than bring us together."

Yamaguchi-Cullen knew of the Unification wars of her mother's species. It had been one of the most truly brutal events in a species' history that she had ever seen. It was also quite a spectacle of military led-violence. "Wasn't it a generation later that the second war started?" she inquired, sounding unsure of herself.

"Indeed," Torilla answered. "The Green flight was all but exterminated during the first war, simply retreated to a cluster of island groups in the Eastern ocean, and there they began rebuilding their culture and way of life. They also made it very clear to all others. The Green Flight would be neutral in all future conflicts. Any violation of this accord would be met with the utmost sanction." she then grinned at her daughter. "Nobody else knew how they were going to achieve this, but since the technology was developing quickly at that point." she then shrugged softly. "The Green flight had been developing an atomic bomb," she added. "With the utmost secrecy, they were developing it and with the start of the second war. They were ready with their new weapons," she added.

Yamaguchi-Cullen had heard of this tale before. She held her silence as she nodded at her mother.

"Well." Torilla then sipped her drink, taking a moment to consider her thoughts. "We'd reached Earth's early 20th-century level by the end of the first war, and by the end of the second, however, we had the ability to consider settling colonies on other planets in our home star system." Torilla paused a moment. "But I'm getting ahead of myself," she added. "The Bronze Flight and the Blue Flight both wanted revenge on the Blacks for what they had done a generation before. The Blacks believed they were the aggrieved party and so the Bronze flight attacked first, with a full ground invasion. Some eight million men with two hundred thousand vehicles in support of this invasion. The Black Flight was conquered within two years. The Blues and the Bronzes had done the impossible, they had conquered their most hated enemies." she then sighed. "The Reds were drawn into the war as well. Now the three allies fell out and swiftly turned on each other. The Blue flight was the smallest and thus, they fell next."

"All because nobody had a plan to end the war," Yamaguchi-Cullen answered. "Wars have a tendency of taking on a life of their own at times," she added.

"Yes. They do." Torilla answered. "The Blue Flight was stripped of their military machines but otherwise they were not exterminated or displaced. The Black Flight, however. What happened to them was one of the worst atrocities in our long history. They were systematically hunted down and exterminated. Many died in various violent and brutal ways. Many from the other flights were killed in the crossfire as well. Some opted to stand their ground and fought, often dying in the process. Most were hunted down and murdered but many escaped. Opting instead to join their old enemies. The Green Flight welcomed their old enemies. Having been broken and humbled on the wheels of war. They saw in the remains of the Black flight the chance for both flights to have their revenge." she paused. "Thats when the Green Flight finaly entered the war. They offered an armistice which would end the war."

Yamaguchi-Cullen raised an eyebrow. "Somehow I bought it was that easy," she commented, a smile on her lips. She then took a sip of her drink.

Torilla grinned. "Was reasoning with angry and stupid people ever going to be easy, honey?" she inquired of her daughter. "Of course not. Such is not to be."
