Torilla then shrugged as if it did not matter to her. "When I refused, his anger was great. He got in my face and told me in no uncertain terms that either I could cooperate or I could refuse. If I refused, as long as I was on New Halana, then I was his. He would claim me as his. So in the end, my refusal would have meant nothing." Torilla explained. "That, was why I left New Halana and sought my destiny among the stars." she then shrugged. "I met your dad about six months later and the rest, you already know," she explained. Torilla then smiled softly at her daughter. "Alright then. Now was there anything else we needed to discuss?" she asked politely.
"Yes." Rachael suddenly grinned. She was going to enjoy this and the look on her face said as much. "When we get to the Starbase. I expect you to take off the uniform, and take a moment to breathe. You wear that uniform like it's a prison. It's not helping you. Nor the kids, nor the grandkid's mom. It's an abstraction. A trick." she commented. "So go visit a sauna somewhere and relax while you work up a sweat."
Torilla arched an eyebrow, while she was getting annoyed. "You should keep to your skillset, honey," she commented. "You are a terrible therapist," she added with a soft sigh.
Rachael nodded in agreement. "Yes. I normally leave such to Elizabeth." Rachael then smiled at the other woman before her. "Normally. I don't tread in her domain, but you are a special case." Rachael suddenly grinned at her mother. "Considering recent events and older events."
That was when the com system interrupted the two women, with their back and forth. "Bridge to Yamaguchi?" came the voice of Commander Tienn Kerris. The Grey Wolf's first officer was watching the bridge while Torilla was handling her paperwork and chatting with her daughter.
"Yes?" Rachael and Torilla answered together. Rachael grinned at her mother. Torilla glared back at her daughter. "Yamaguchi here. Go?"
"We've arrived at the Starbase sir," Tienn reported. "But there seems to be something going on." the voice sounded puzzled and then concerned. Torilla rose to her feet as she shrugged at her daughter who shrugged back. "I'm on my way. Take us into the orbit of Jesper IV in the meantime," she commented.
Torilla emerged onto the bridge of her ship. She turned her attention to the main viewscreen. There are a large number of ships presently orbiting the Starbase. Some of the designs she recognized from the contemporary fleet, she frowned as she noticed that some of the others were from the history books. Still, others were designs she didn't recognize. Torilla turned to Tienn. "Report?" she inquired in a calm voice. While she asked, she heard the turbolift doors open and then close behind her. Torilla knew that her daughter had just left the bridge, as she had no duty station. Rachael didn't need to be present for this.
"We have a large number of Federation starships orbiting the Starbase skipper." Commander Masako Anderson regarded her commanding officer while she addressed the other woman before her. "I'm also reading an unusual chromometric signature from all of those ships," he added while she worked for her panel. "It matches the temporal anomaly around the base," she added.
"A temporal event, then," Torilla responded in a quiet tone of voice. She frowned while she recalled how much she hated temporal mechanics. However, Yamaguchi knew that this was a whole new kind of issue for her to consider and deal with. "Scan the Starbase. Are they incapacitated in any form or function?" Yamaguchi wanted to know if she was going to assume command of all Starfleet assets in this area.
Anderson checked before she shook her head. "Negative."
Yamaguchi regarded the collections of ships, and as she admired them, another ship popped into existence. "Can you identify those ships?"
"Yessir." Lt Commander Egon "Cutting Edge" Schuller responded. "Compiling the list at present. Displaying on screen," he reported.
Yamaguchi regarded the list of the names of the ships in question and the time periods the ships were presently displaced from. She noted that many of the names were from places and dates she simply didn't know but several jumped off of the page at her. "USS Courageous. Twenty-three Seventy Three." she slowly smiled.
"Very well, I'll beam over to the station as we pass them. Bring us into transporter range, and then head off to orbit Jesper IV." Torilla paused. "Kerris, the bridge is yours. I'll be back soon." as Yamaguchi departed the bridge, her next stop was the logistics offices for the paperwork she would need to take with her. She hoped she would run into old friends. She tapped her combadge. "Yamaguchi to Yamaguchi. Honey, we have business on the Starbase."
"Copy, on my way,"
Torilla smiled.
