Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - USS Manticore
Timeline: 1100Hrs, August 12th, 2393

Feraan smiled as she watched Tejara leave her office, she blinked as she sighed. 'Down girl' she thought to herself as she turned her thoughts back to her work rather than the thoughts of lust she had entertained a moment earlier. She sighed softly as the large Vrykul tapped her combadge. "Feraan to Rehvick, could you contact Admiral MacKean for me, I wish to speak with her."

"Right away skipper." came the answer from Rehvick

Feraan settled back in her chair as she mentally calmed herself. Suddenly the black screen before her changed to reveal a human female's face. "Yes, Captain?" What can I do for you?" the human female inquired, she had a pretty good idea of what was to come but she wished to be sure before she started asking questions or making assumptions.

"I will need a new science officer to replace Lieutenant Tejara, he has decided to become my new first officer as Beth Woerner has decided to accept command of the USS Daedalus."

"Good, I reviewed Commander Woerner's file while I was waiting for you. She is ready and I'm glad she's taking command of the Daedalus." MacKean commented with a smile. "And you got your new first officer issue resolved too. Alright. I'll look and see who's available and I'll send them to you." she added, the smile never leaving her face while she spoke.

"Thank you, Admiral," Feraan answered. "We should be back at Vanguard around the twenty eighty of the month and we'll be able to drop off Commander Woerner at that point." the massive Vrykul female explained with a nod.

"Good, I will send your replacement science officer to meet you at Vanguard," MacKean answered with a nod. "I have...." her voice trailed off as she selected a PADD and called up the list she had carefully made over the last hour or so. "Six candidates who are ready and available. Two of them are Mustangs who were prior enlisted and earned commissions through skill or good fortune," she explained. "Three of them are experienced department heads and one of them is a new department head." MacKean slid the PADD into the side of the small computer station she was using, she tapped a few buttons as she got the ball rolling. "I'm sending you the file now."

"Okay," Feraan answered evenly. "Let's see." as she watched the file appear on her display. "I have the file, okay..." she commented as she lifted a PADD and began looking up the service records of the six officers selected. "Two of these should be assigned to capital ships of the line and not to me. Harrison and sh'Loriian are the ones."

"I'll note that in their files," MacKean answered.

Feraan had come to Lenaris Marika. "I want the happy Bajoran. Lenaris Marika." the large Vrykul answered. "She seems bright and willing to learn. I'll take her." as she smiled widely.

"You're sure you want her?" MacKean sounded almost unsure. "I heard she's too excitable.

"I do." the Vrykul answered with a smile. "I will have uses for her."

"Alright then," MacKean commented. "I will send her to you at Vanguard, she will be waiting for you when you arrive," MacKean answered with a nod.

"Thank you, Admiral," Feraan answered as she settled back into her chair for the second time.

"How's your charting assignment going?" MacKean inquired.

"We have four out of the six-star systems finished already, we're about two and a half days ahead of schedule now," Feraan answered evenly. "The moral of the crew is good and the ship has performed very well, above anyone's expectations." Feraan answered. "we had a little fun around a Vulcanic moon but nobody got hurt and we're replacing what we lost in the assignment with help from our replicators."

"Those Eye-Oh class moons are a right pain to chart," MacKean answered with a sigh. "Admiral Janeway lost a few people when charting one about thirty years ago and they are downright dangerous to approach at times."

Feraan nodded her head in agreement. "Yes, Admiral. Ain't that the truth." she paused a moment. "We should be reaching system five in four hours and we'll see how this system goes." as she smiled. "I expect it to be interesting if nothing else."

"Alright then, it sounds like you have everything well in hand. I look forward to reading the final analysis of your work, whether or not we can colonize any of them and whether or not any of them are settled and inhabited already." MacKean answered evenly. "Smooth sailing and calm seas Captain." and with that, MacKean ended the communications with Feraan. The large Vrykul tapped the display once as she smiled.
