Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - USS Heart of the Tiger / Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 0830Hrs - July 22nd, 2393

Lieutenant Safaa LaSteel sat down in her office as she tapped her combadge. It was early morning as she had decided to finish off the paperwork the previous evening and wait for the medical paperwork, now it was on her desk so she could proceed with her work. "LaSteel to bridge, could you call Starbase Vanguard's JAG Office please, I need to speak with Captain Rabb, it's about a case I need to drop his way."

"Willdo." came the voice of the ships first officer. "We're placing your call now, it'll be a moment," he added, in his usual cheery tone of voice, knowing she would brief him and the skipper on the matter later.

"Sounds good, thank you, LaSteel out," she commented as she blinked her large eyes while she settled in to wait. A moment later the face of her boss, Captain Rabb appeared on the display. "Hey Safaa, what's going on?" Rabb inquired of her, he knew that this woman would not be calling him like this unless a really strange case had come her way or this was something she could not handle alone.

LaSteel gently tapped the PADD twice and then she tapped the display. "I'm sending you a file over this channel and I'd like you to read it. Since the man in question is assigned to your starbase, I figured I'd best come and see you about the matter." she paused. "I'm sending the file now."

Rabb knew this was not good, he tapped the display. "I have it." and with that, he downloaded the file onto a PADD and he lifted it so she could see he was going to read it. "Let me give this the once over," Rabb commented evenly.

LaSteel knew she would not be waiting long as she settled in to wait for Rabb to read this.

Rabb read the file that the Lieutenant had sent him. "Mmm... Oh my," he commented in a dry tone of voice. "I see your concern and your issue," Rabb responded evenly. "So the adopted daughter of the Chief Medical Officer of the USS Heart of the Tiger is a product of rape." he sighed softly. "Alright, I'll look into this matter and see what shakes loose," he commented evenly.

LaSteel nodded her head. "Alright. I will look into the matter on this end and I will assist you as needed." she paused. "One thing of note was that I requested Doctor Cullen wait a couple of days to calm down and tend to his daughter. He is serious about charges. I am concerned about it."

"Fair enough Safaa, I understand and I share your concerns... This could be a Doctor seeking to do the right thing or a husband, seeking vengeance for his mate who was violated." Rabb paused. "Let's hope this doesn't get stupid, and as everyone involved is in Starfleet, it won't either..." as he grinned at the Lieutenant before him. "Let's see... Ahh, nice. I see you send a DNA sample from Ms. Yamaguchi-Cullen, excellent," Rabb added. "Alright. I'll get started," he added evenly. "Rabb out." and with that, the message ended.

Rabb sighed softly as he rose to his feet as he tapped his combadge. "Rabb to Gyce. Are you in your office at present?"

"I am." The Bajoran woman answered. "What's going on?" she inquired.

"I have a case I am going to drop your way," Rabb answered evenly as he rose to his feet. "Rabb out." and with that, he departed his office.

Director Benice Gyce sighed softly, her second day aboard Vanguard and first day on the job. She had been hoping to see her spouse whom she always seemed to be missing whenever the two were assigned somewhere together. Apparently, Iteela had just been reassigned from medical and into command, also she had been reassigned from Starbase Vanguard, over to the USS Cassini, a Vikrant class fleet carrier as the new second officer. Gyce was less than amused by this development. Now, something was happening that clearly needed her expertise.

The doorbell beeped at her. "Enter," Gyce commented, the door opened and in came Captain Harmon Rabb, she knew of him only by reputation but apparently he was known for having a soft space in his heart, for cripples, bastards, and broken things. "You wanted to see me?" the Bajoran inquired.

Rabb handed her a PADD. "Yeah, I got an accusation of a stat rape case. I'd like your input," he commented evenly.

Gyce sighed softly. "Stat rape, lovely," she commented as she accepted the PADD. "Saki.." she paused. "Of all the people, I never expected it to be you."
she handed the PADD back to Rabb. "Yeah. Before you ask. I met Saki while I was assigned to the Roanoke, I arrested her mother and her aunt when Rachael was a teenager. Along with almost every last member of their medical staff, save a couple." she paused. "Not my finest hour."

"I read about that," Rabb answered, a flicker of amusement on his face. "I didn't think it was all true."

"Oh, it is all true." Gyce sighed softly as she frowned. "So our dear mister Harrison got it on with Rachael and Saki was the end product. "m Gyce then slowly facepalmed. "When the other members of her family find out about this, they are all going to lose their minds over it."

"I believe it. Torilla is leaving in eleven days as she's heading for her new command." Rabb answered.

"Okay, it does not matter as I have a job to do, pass this one along to security and have them proceed on the matter. Charges are stat rape, conspiracy and.." Gyce paused. "It doesn't matter anyway, I am compromised with the fact I know the people involved. Rachael and Saki to be specific."

Rabb was somewhat taken aback. "Okay, that's not a problem. I'll call in Captain Mueller and let her handle the case. She tends to be direct and she speaks German rather than English so prepare yourself for that little issue." he added.

Gyce sighed softly as she nodded her head. "We'll do this your way."

Rabb nodded "I understand." as he tapped his combadge. "Rabb to Mueller. Could you drop by Director Gyce's office, we need your assistance on a rather particular matter."

"Ich bin auf dem Weg." came the answer which the com system turned into English standard. "I'm on my way." and with that, the com system, went silent. Rabb and Gyce settled in to wait.
