Infinity's End - Part Nine
Posted on Mon Feb 28th, 2022 @ 7:15pm by Commander Morae Stormstout & Lieutenant Christine Killian
Mission:
Mission 108: Grains of Sand
Location: Various Locations - USS Infinity
Timeline: 1200Hrs - October 28th, 2393
Lieutenant Christine Killian brushed her unruly mane of blonde hair back out of her eyes. She grinned to herself as she stepped off of the turbolift while she mentally prepared herself for the task before her, as Killian knew that the foe she faced was a formidable one, a ship's crew that had spent a long time together was now being broken up across various assignments, promotions and other commands of their own, in addition to over a hundred and fifty others who were also departing for new assignments, many of them as senior officers and department heads in their own rights.
Killian knew she would be needed as many personnel on the crew could be and would be missing the familiarity of routine and the same people they had worked with for years. But many of these people were in demand and from the way it looked to Killian, more then half of the crew of the Infinity would end up departing for other assignments due to promotions and senior officer department head postings. Killian knew that this assignment was going to be highly demanding and interesting in various and fascinating ways.
The blonde-haired human woman entered the transporter room, she wore her regular duty uniform and she made the uniform look good on her slender frame. "One to beam over to the USS Infinity please Chief?" Killian requested, a gentle smile on her lips
"Could I have a look at your orders please ma'am?" the transporter chief inquired of Killian.
Killian mentally kicked herself for not expecting this sooner, she stepped over to him and handed the man the PADD in her hand. He accepted it and gave it the quick once over before he handed it back to her. "Thank you ma'am."
Killiam accepted the PADD back before she went over to the transporter pad, she stepped onto the pad before she turned to face him. The Chief had just finished informing the transporter chief on the Infinity that he had a passenger to be sent over.
He turned to Killian. "They are ready for you."
"Thanks, energize whenever you're ready Chief," Killian answered before she was transported aboard the USS Infinity. Killian found herself in a transporter room much like the one she left, except the color scheme on the walls and floors was different and the transporter chief was someone new. The real standout was the massive woman who had come to meet her. "Permission to come aboard?" she inquired in the old naval tradition.
"Granted," Stormstout answered before she introduced herself, who she was and why she was standing before Killian. "I'm the ship's Exec," Stormstout added with a smile as she offered the smaller human female her hand, in the human custom.
Killian gently took the other woman's hand with her own. "Its good to meet you Commander," she answered. "Its good to be here." as she handed the massive female;e before her, the PADD in her hands.
"Ahh, our new Chief Counselor," Stormstout commented as she handed the PADD back to the other woman before her. "Tressa left some big shoes to fill, she wanted a more stable assignment so she could have her family, I don 't begrudge her this, I know that others do, however... Which is unfortunate." she added.
"Do you need me to start right away?" Killian inquired. She was expecting trouble and her body language said as much.
"No Christine..." Stormstout paused. "Do you prefer formality or non-formal?" she asked further.
"Oh, I much prefer non-formal, and Chris is fine," Killian answered with a gentle smile on her lips.
"Nice. I prefer being on a first-name basis with my colleges, but that's me and I am rather unusual, as you'll see soon enough. The skipper is a rather odd duck for a Vulcan... I think that's how the humans among us use the term."
"I've heard of the Commodore from others, they mostly speak quite well of her, with various caveats, mostly that she's a Vulcan," Kilian answered with a gentle smile. "I am not worried as it'll be Doctor Dvald-Veldama that I'll be dealing with. Having a pregnant Bolian present should be different."
Stormstout grinned. "She has two children already... A word to the wise, try not to anger her."
"I've heard about her from others... I also worked with two of her relatives at one point... A Sohnaxx Dvald and a Leneris Dvald.... mother and son I believe... Is Theris a relative?"
"Sohnaxx is her mother. So you're working with known crazies then... Good, you'll fit right in with our awkward family then. Excellent." Stormstout commented with a wide smile on her lips. "Let's go get you your quarters assignment and then you can go meet the skipper. I do not doubt that she is expecting you soonest."
"Alright, then we should go take care of things." as she followed the massive woman before her, out of the transporter room and down the hallway.
