Mission: Mission 97: The Fleet Reorganization Saga
Location: Various Locations - Starfleet Planetary Base, Deneva - KAPPA FORNACIS
Timeline: 0900Hrs, September 15th, 2392

"Relax Captain, have a seat." Admiral Mark Davis responded as he indicated a chair across from him. Courtney slid her body onto the chair without comment or question. "Now, it says here that you wish to have your rank and commission revoked, you wish to become a warrant officer in the sciences. Is that right?"

"Yes sir, that is all correct," Yamaguchi answered.

"We are badly in need of good officers in this Starfleet, Captain. Considering your request, I am half tempted to refuse it and send you on your way but its very seldom I ever get a request like this that crosses my desk anyway so I will hear you out as to why." Davis looked at her while he regarded her with a patient look. "Please enlighten me as to why you would make such a request."

Courtney Yamaguchi for her credit was half expected him to simply laugh at her, then dismiss her for wasting his time and that would be the end of this, as far as this route was concerned, her next stop was to resign her commission but apply to remain in Starfleet as a warrant officer and that would work but would piss more than a few people off but she was determined to make this plan work.

Yamaguchi checked off her fingers as she began her explanation.
"Well, one, I was not officially a part of this universes Starfleet until recently so I earned nothing here. Starfleet also loses nothing anyway."
she added. "Two. I was a scientist before the war started, I had trained as one because my paperwork says I studied life sciences, botany, and various biosciences while I was at Alpha Centauri University rather than the academy," she explained.

"So you never intended to join Starfleet." Davis inquired with a gentle smile.

"No, not really. I was conscripted with the Federation-wide draft in the mid-seventies and I've been in since. As an officer fighting a war I was never trained to fight."

"I read over your psych-eval," Davis explained. "You passed that with flying colors so it's a real shame you don't wish to remain an officer as we have great need of officers of your caliber."

"I've been told that by many of my relatives sir. Many of whom I was meeting for the first time. I was more or less alone in my universe of origin and now I find out I have more siblings, cousins, nephews, and nieces then I know what to do with."

"I can understand. So what will you do, assuming I grant this.?" Davis inquired.

"I want to go back to what I used to do, what my first love in life was. Science." Yamaguchi answered. "I do not wish to command others, I am not good at it," she added.

"Alright, well I guess I can't talk you out of it," Davis answered as he produced a small black box which he opened and then passed over to her. "I'm having you reinstated as a Chief Warrant Officer, WO3. You'll also switch uniforms from the red to the navy blue and you'll get what you want, a science assignment without any command."

"Thank you, sir," Yamaguchi answered as she accepted the small box, she then peeled off her four solid pips and placed then inside the box after trading them for the single rank pip with the three chevrons on either side of the single black pip.

"Okay Warrant. Now that this has been sorted out, I have your next assignment choices for you." as he handed her a PADD. "There are three assignments, all of which I think you'd be good for."

Yamaguchi accepted the PADD before she began leafing through the assignments, she mentally rejected the one that assigned her to a Starbase. "Let's see," she said aloud. "I'll accept the USS Dreamcrusher. I've got family assigned there and Celeste will be of assistance to me in sorting myself out."

"You're sure about this?" Davis inquired in a dubious tone of voice, with an equally dubious look on his face.

"Why?." Yamaguchi inquired. "Something wrong with Dreamcrusher?"

"No. But her skipper is this universes version of your former Exec." Davis answered. "Captain Daniel McKnight. Try not to honk him off."

"Yessir. I have no intention of picking fights with anyone." Yamaguchi answered.

"Alright, that's all I got for you. On your way. Go home and pack as I want you on the morning transport out of the Starbase. It leaves at Oh nine hundred tomorrow so you have the rest of today to handle matters."

"Yessir. Oh, nine hundred so I leave here at oh eight hundred." Yamaguchi answered.

"Dismissed Warrant and. Good luck."

"Thank you, Admiral. Four your time, your candor and you granting my request." and with that, Courtney turned and departed in silence.
