Mission: Mission 96: Settling Accounts
Location: Yamaguchi-Hobbs Quarters - USS Dreamcrusher
Timeline: 1245Hrs - September 1st, 2392

Captain Daniel McKnight, better known as 'Karass' and who was also the new skipper of the USS Dreamcrusher, peered into the quarters where the fistfight had taken place. "Okay so what do we have guys?" he inquired of the security guys who were busy snapping pictures and documenting evidence.

"It's a right mess sir-err skipper." came the response from Chief Warrant Officer James Davidson. "It's started over here and ended here." he indicated the blood splatter before the large blood pool. "All of the blood is from the one person. The victim."

"So. Our victim never got the chance to defend themselves then." McKnight inquired.

"Not from what I can see here sir. The only witness was a young Caitian child named Charon, he's been sent to sickbay with the victim. Commander Yamaguchi's older sister. She's the-" he paused, his explanation coming to a halt.

"Shit," McKnight answered. "The skipper of the Stalingrad. Lovely..."

"Yessir.." he paused as Colonel Hobbs arrived on scene with a Caitian child beside her. "Oh wow," Charon commented quietly to Hobbs, commenting on the blood splatter and the pool of blood.

McKnight turned and came over to the shorter human female. "Hey, Colonel. All the ships children are alright, I have twenty security troops looking after them as we speak." he turned his attention to the child. "You must be Charon."

The child nodded. "Yes."

"You are very brave, to keep calm after what just happened. Are you alright?"

"I don't know.. I'm so confused." Charon admitted.

"Don't worry son, that's alright. We're all confused by what happened but we're going to get to the bottom of this. But...We need to ask you a few questions, you okay with that?" McKnight paused. "Don't worry. Brianna will be right beside you the whole time."

Charon nodded. "Okay."

Brianna looked at Karass. "The impostor was a dead ringer for Celeste. She fooled me." She then looked at Charon. "Tell Captain McKnight what happened. Don't be afraid and just tell him what you saw."

Charon nodded. "Okay.." she paused as he sat down at the kitchen table. McKnight sat across from him as he raised a hand for Charon to wait a moment. "Protocol must be observed son."

Charon nodded his head gently while McKnight produced a PADD, he tapped it once. "This is Captain Daniel McKnight. I am interviewing Charon Yamaguchi in regards to the assault case of Marie Yamaguchi." he paused. "Tell me what happened son, in your own words and take your time, we have all the time in the world.."

"Okay.." Charon paused. "I was home from school. I'd eaten something which made me sick." he paused. "Mom, that is Commander Celeste Yamaguchi. Sorry.." he paused. "She let me stay home from school so I could rest and feel better after I slept." he paused. "whoever that was, she was the spitting image of mom... except one thing."

"What's that son?" McKnight asked gently, a warm smile on his face.

"She didn't smell right." Charon paused. "She also didn't sound right either."

"Sound?... How so?" McKnight inquired, gently.

"She walked funny, shorter steps.. quicker." the boy responded, clearly deep in thought. "her scent was more metallic, harsher." he paused. "She also avoided eye contact with me. She was not expecting me... Celeste loves being around us kits... This woman did not..."

"What did she do?"

"She came in but then she seemed surprised, she caught it quickly but I could tell she was surprised to see me," Charon explained, in a soft tone. "She covered it quickly before she was surprised a second time by Brianna here." as Charon was talking, he quickly snagged Brianna's hand on his own.

"It's okay son." McKnight paused. "We can take a break if you want?"

"No." Charon paused. "No. Anyway... the-whoever-it-was then moved into the bathroom to get away from Brianna. She then said she felt sick but I could tell she was fine. I just... I couldn't understand it. I thought I was mom but she was acting really funny.." he paused. "Then she slipped out when Brianna or I wasn't looking. I could hear her walking of course." he turned to Brianna. "She walked like you do.. she was extremely light on her feet. Mom is very heavy on her feet." he paused a second time.

McKnight nodded his head. "She didn't do anything?" he inquired. "She didn't harm you?"

"No... No to both." Charon answered. "She was trying to avoid us, not confront us. I'm sure of that."

"Alright, son. I have everything I need." McKnight smiled. "Thank you, Charon, You have been most helpful." McKnight gently touched the small child on his shoulder. "We are going to find out what happened and why... You may be assured that this. Will. Not happen again."

"Okay," Charon responded, finally smiling.

Brianna looked at McKnight, "She had everyone fooled. Had she meant to cause harm I have no doubt she could have."

McKnight nodded his head. "So the question becomes, What was she doing here and why to impersonate Celeste?" he sighed. "I'm going to have to ask Celeste to have a sit-down with the Counselor. Make sure everything is alright with her."

"She has been through enough, is that really needed?" She asked.

McKnight regarded Hobbs with a soft sigh. "I'm afraid it is. Considering what's happened recently."

Charon peered at McKnight. "Mom's okay. I. I think."

"Charon. Your mom has been through a lot recently and now she's changing jobs. She's just become a lot more important to this ship, her crew and to me. I want to make sure she can handle it." McKnight paused. "It's actually a good thing."

"Oh." the child paused. "Okay."

"Celeste is very capable," Brianna spoke up. "The time isn't right. Not sure if she would be..." Brianna turned and remembered Charon was still in the room, "A liability."

"I still want her as my Exec, otherwise I'd have made arrangements by now. In a few year's time. I can see Celeste commanding her own Squadron easily. She has the skills, the abilities and the support she needs to get there."

"Alright, your the skipper of this tugboat. It's your call. I know she'll do her best." She told him.

McKnight smiled as he chuckled softly. "Nobody has ever called Dreamcrusher a tugboat before. I'll have to recall that one." he paused. "Celeste is still my Exec but I need to be sure she's all there in the head."
