Mission 79: Sound Trumpets! Let Our bloody Colors Wave
Location: Various Locations - Zol'Maz System
Timeline: 1800Hrs - April 15th, 2392
Captain Leah Deepshadow was seated in her command chair, while this woman was many things, a mother, a starship captain, and a wife among her various titles and accomplishments, she did not feel she could have been the best mother to her various children as her eldest outright hated her and the two of them didn't speak. Leah blamed herself for her lack of foresight and her lack of responsibility considering she was a party girl her first year of the academy and being pregnant with Monique was what snapped her out of her funk and irresponsibility but then she made more mistakes and then made yet more mistakes to fix the first mistakes.
Leah then ended up getting into a relationship with a man named Robert Anderson who now served under her command except he answered to the ships exec rather than her so as to not cause any major issues for her. Now she was heading into battle and while she was seated in her command chair, her thoughts raging through her mind of the battle to come and the battles she had fought and lost between her and members of her own family. Leah had come to the realization that she was a poor mother and had failed her children when they had needed her the most.
She turned her head to regard her Executive Officer. Commander Maurice Logan who looked human but he had the ribbed nose that marked the other half of his ancestry, his mother was Bajoran and so he had the best and worst of both races. "Captain. Status check."
"Right.. Where are we with our preparations?" Deepshadow inquired as she shifted her body in her chair, enough to wake her nerves that had settled into sleep.
"We're ready to drop the heavy end on the Klingons skipper," Logan responded, a wide grin on his face. "All ships report ready."
"Excellent," Deepshadow responded as the Operations Chief turned to address her. "Sir, we're getting a message from the flagship. It's addressed to the fleet..." Lt Commander Ashiv Th'ezereth reported. The Andorian Thaan was the model of efficiency as his work was something he took seriously.
"Let's hear it," Logan responded as he settled in to listen.
Deepshadow settled in silence to listen to the words of the Fleet Commander and what Bolvar Fordragon had to say. Fordragon's voice came over the com system. it sounded calm and confident. "By now you've all seen that we outnumbered three to their one. But we are only here to lead the advance... Not to get into slug matches with large Klingon fleets, the Gorn had requested our help in fighting off these invaders and that is something that Starfleet has consented to do. However.. I know I am about to ask a great many things of-of every last man and woman under my command in the coming battle ahead.." Fordragon paused.
"The path we have chosen for the present is full of hazards, as all paths are; but it is the one most consistent with our character and courage as a nation and our commitments around the Galaxy. "
Fordragon directly quoted another well-known leader from Earth. "The cost of freedom is always high, but we have always paid it. And one path we shall never choose, and that is the path of surrender or submission." Fordragon paused a moment to breathe.
"Our goal is not the victory of might, but the vindication of right; not peace at the expense of freedom, but both peace and freedom and in this battle we shall break the enemy and bring salvation to our people, tried in the furnace of persecution, thirsting only for freedom, for righteousness, and for justice. Thank you all... good luck.."
Deepshadow smiled. "Tactical.... You set?" she inquired in a calm voice.
Lt Commander Hiraxea Gadiwat who held the post of Chief Tactical Actions Officer, nodded her bald head with blue skin which was bifurcated down the middle, marking this elegant looking female as a Bolian. "Give me the word sir," she responded, more as a growl than anything else.
"Well, Hira... The word... is given.... Make those fuckers bleed.." Deepshadow responded in kind.
"Yessir. I'll be happy to make their Sto'Vo'Kor a very crowded place indeed."
Deepshadow didn't bother to deny what was about to happen. "Very well... Don't let me stop you, as soon as we're within range, open up with everything you got, don't be shy on my account."
The large Bolian female simply laughed. "I could call you many things skipper... Shy isn't one of them.."
Robert Anderson smiled as there were a few soft chuckles around the bridge at that comment, he turned. "M'Noren. you prepared for any forced boarding operations against us?"
"Yes, sir. All my guys are mobilized and ready. Phaser rifles have been issued and sidearms are worn by everyone." Lieutenant M'Noren who held the posting of Chief of Security nodded as he indicated the sidearms that every person wore on duty. "We're ready for anything sir."
"Let's hope they won't try to board us... God knows they love that shit." Lieutenant Vrajir Leezahl who was the Chief Intelligence Officer, the twin rows of spots marked the man as being a Trill from the Trill homeworld, this would be his first major war on his third assignment in the fleet. "Communications ready skipper."
Deepshadow nodded her head. "Helm, time to contact?"
"One minute, ten seconds to weapons range... contact four minutes after that." Lieutenant Stera Uchei who held the posting of Chief Conn Officer, who was a Betazoid. She was known for having a need for speed, it if flew and was fast then this woman who was all lines and angles was interested. She liked thrill rides and had a very serious need for speed in all she did.
Just then the comm system beeped at the assembled crew. "Engineering to Bridge. Just letting ya know, we're good to go down here. Damage control is prepped on all decks and we're ready for war." reported Commander Anjohl Nerys who was the Chief Engineer. She was also Bajoran.
Lt Commander Hiraxea Gadiwat spoke then. "We're in range.."
"Right then... I'd best be off. Engineering out." Anjohl quickly got off of the com without waiting for a response from Deepshadow.
"Open fire." Deepshadow gave the order and that was when all hell broke loose.
