Klag smiled as he was seated on the bridge of his command ship for the invasion of the Gorn system with the tactical display on the wall monitor, the invasion that J'mpok had started and had demanded that Klag plan and lead ten days ago.
In space battles, the Gorn had generally fallen in battle but still inflicting losses on the Klingons but the true fight with the Gorn had been on the ground, reports had come back to Klag and many of his officers that the Gorn were battling hard and well to maintain their holdings in across various star systems.
In truth Klag was happy as it gave him what he wanted, the Gorn were willing to fight and fight hard so he was going to use this against them in attacking his next major target. "Confirm that all ships are in position to begin the assault?"
The communications officer nodded. "Right away sir." as he went to work, tapping a sequence of buttons on his panel, he turned back to Klag. "All ships report ready."
"Signal them to decloak and attack..." Klag sat down in his command chair as he smiled, the lighting around him went from a deep red to a brilliant white as the Klingon force of some forty ships began their attack, demolishing a Gorn supply convoy with minimal effort. Klag watched as the fireballs began mushrooming with a life all of their own, as ships began venting contents and atmosphere into space thanks to hits from disruptor weapons and missiles.
Klag indicated the world nearby. "Move to phase two."
The Klingon force slowly began maneuvering to move around the grouping of slagged, ruined and demolished ships that they had spent the last five minutes savaging, Gorn reinforcements began arriving moments later as they moved to block the Klingon assault of Goranar.
Klag smiled. "Have groups three and four activate their cloaks and move in... Everyone else.. Break and attack that Gorn force."
The various Klingon ships began splitting into two groups as the cloaked ships moved in to commence the raid itself while the assault group hung back to cover them, as the various ships began shooting at each other while jockeying for position. Klag watched as the second force moved in closer.
On the bridge of his ship, the IKS H'un'Mas. Commander H'an smiled darkly as he watched the sensor display that he had displayed on the viewscreen of the battle just starting higher up the gravity well of the planet. "Order all ships... decloak and open fire... everything in range."
The second Klingon force appeared and began shooting as six civilian ships all found themselves unprepared and two of them suddenly exploded like giant antimatter fireworks as the Klingon force simply went around the now destroyed hulks as the rest fell quickly before the Klingons onslaught before they began opening fire on the planet itself, with massive megaton detonations occurring on the planet and in many of the major cities. The Klingons then quickly slunk away as one Bird of Prey suddenly detonated thanks to a Gorn Heavy Cruiser that had just appeared from the nearby construction scaffoldings nearby.
Klag watched the sensor telemetry come in from the battle raging around them. "Mission complete... withdraw... "
The Klingons retreated as Klag gave the orders, he would leave the Gorn's military to figure out how to respond to this little fiasco that he had created, he knew the Federation would be pissed about the small convoy of Federation ships that he had demolished but as far as he was concerned, it was acceptable. People died in war and the Federation shouldn't have been here with their ships getting in the way.
"Losses.?" Klag demanded. "To our group?"
"Seven ships destroyed. three more damaged to various degrees..."
"Acceptable," Klag responded. "Gorn losses."
"Less then us sir at four ships destroyed and eight damaged."
"Damage to Goranar?"
"Eleven minor cities destroyed, two major cities also destroyed."
Klag was about to say something else when a sudden explosion on the viewscreen called his attention back to the situation at hand. "Status?" he ordered.
"The IKS H'un'Mas's warp core collapsed before it detonated."
"Hmm," Klag grunted. "Commander H'an was a fool for pressing his luck... " Klag paused as he realized something. "How many ships did he lose?"
"Eight ships sir... almost half his-eerrkkk..." as Klag hauled off and belted the officer doing the reporting. "Next time be more specific idiot... Tell me everything.." as he fumed while the Bekk picked himself up off of the deck. "Yessir," he added a moment later.
