Mission:
Mission 68: Unsteady is the Head the Wears the Crown
Location: Moorlu's Lab - Starbase orbiting Halee
Timeline: 1100Hrs - April 4th, 2392
Commander Moorlu who was now the head of House Makar regarded the man who he was going to appoint as gin'tak of the house.
"Do you have any questions?"
"None... I am honored that you felt you could come to me." Turek responded with a smile. "Your father was a close friend of mine."
"I know. Father spoke of you often... You will have unusual breadth of discretion as I did not wish the leadership of this house... My brother and sister are in the Federation and will not return. I do not wish it, I have important work elsewhere... You and my mother will rule this house in my stead."
"You honor me, my young friend and your faith in me is not misplaced." as Moorlu and Turek shook hands, grasping each other's forearms in the Klingon style. "You are now Gin'tak of this house from this day until you're last day... " Moorlu spoke
"Honor and glory to House Makar... and its members," Turek responded. The posting of Gin'tak was a position of authority within a Klingon Great House and was usually reserved for a trusted adviser. The adviser who held the position was trusted absolutely and could even become a member of the House which he served. The gin'tak put the good of his House above all other considerations, even personal honor. The gin'tak also had the right to invoke ya'nora kor, which was a Klingon rite that was exercised by the gin'tak of a Great House. The ya'nora kor allowed the gin'tak to question the fitness of the leader of a family to make decisions, specifically those that had a direct impact on the standing of the House or it's future if the Gin'tak felt the actions of a member of the House threatened the standing of the family.
Kora watched f4rom nearby, she had a smile on her face as she had felt that since her son didn't wish the leadership that she would turn to someone else.
Just then a guard entered. "Apologies for the interruption. The Chancellor of the Empire wishes to speak with you my lord." he said to Moorlu.
"Very well," Moorlu responded before he followed the guard to where the message was being played. "You wished to speak with me Chancellor.?"
"Yes.. I understand that you are developing battlesuit technology.." it was not a question.
"I am." Moorlu responded. "What of it?"
"I wish for several thousand to be built and distributed to the Klingon Defense Forces.." J'mpok began without preamble.
"I see.." Moorlu responded bluntly. "The systems are unfinished and they are not tested under wartime conditions."
"What are you on about... Everything in the empire should be tested under wartime conditions... War makes Klingons great.."
Moolu sighed. "I designed them to be used in a variety of environments to protect Klingons from the elements.."
"You are pathetic... Either design me what I want or I'll discommendate your house and have you all slain."
"Fine... I'll do it.. but then this is over.. I will personally kill you, Chancellor, for this affront to my honor... I swear it by the blood of Kahless.." and with that, he hung up on the Chancellor.
Turek smiled. "Your father would have been proud."
"We must prepare for him to carry out his threat," Moorlu responded lightly. "Threats made then not carried out are a waste of time and effort. We all know J'mpok is insane enough to do it."
Kora nodded. "Yes. I will begin preparations at once." and she left the room to proceed with those efforts.
