Closing Time, Last Call

Mission: Mission 54: Where Snow Meets Sky
Location: Captain's Ready Room - USS Spirit of Winter
Timeline: 0900Hrs - December 21st, 2391

Captain Bernard Montgomery sighed softly as he regarded the PADD in his hand, wishing he could make it go away, he had started to get to know and coexist with the staff on his new command and he found that once he had started to lighten up, they tended to think better of him, he found this assignment to be deeply fulfilling on many levels and he had never been happier to be in starfleet. Until this morning that was when the magic of this assignment seemed to evaporate like the early morning fog against the burning furnace of the rising sun.

Monty sat back in his chair. "Tea, Earl Grey, hot." he said evenly, the replicator created the beverage he requested., he reached back as he picked up the beverage with one hand and with this other, he tapped the combadge affixed to the left chest of his uniform, where it always was as his uniform was crisp and clean, same as it was every morning.

"Montgomery to Akaris. Would you mind stepping in here please and thanks?" he inquired, before he sipped his drink.

Akaris, whom on the bridge conversing with Renhai got the call. She then asked," You want me to bring the CoB and Renhai as well."

Montgomery nodded his head in agreement. "My issue here will become public knowledge soon enough." he responded. "Go ahead and call them in."

Akaris nodded and called over Suguna, then the three of them walked into Montgomery's office. Renhai, with her sharp eyes was the first to notice on his desk," Transfer order?"

Suguna sighed softly. "Just when we were getting you broken in nicely." she shook her head. "Disgraceful, if you ask me.... so where you being sent?" she inquired as she sat down in a chair nearby.

"I'm being sent to taker command of the Excalibur Class, USS Andúril," he explained. "So... I get to work with a whole new crew... I'll be honest... I don't want to leave really." he admitted as he slid the PADD across to the three people gathered.

Akaris looked at the Assignment orders saying, "So your being kicked upstairs basically."

Montgomery nodded. "Yep." he let out a sigh. "I get to command a large battlecruiser. and... Yeah." he sat back in his chair. "Lucky me." his tone said it was anything but.

Akaris gave Montgomery a dubious look, "Yes you sure have a lot to look forward too."

"Perhaps," Montgomery responded with a sigh. "I leave tomorrow morning..." he let out another sigh. "I happen to like Crusiers... and this ship specifically."
