Mission:
Mission 40: Thirty Pieces of Silver
Location: Various Locations - USS Argonne
Timeline: 1200Hrs - August 4th, 2391
The senior officers of the Argonne sat around the conference room table as Colonel Nye entered. They all came to attention and Nye acknowledged the gesture.
"I just want you all to know that I run a strict ship." He told the officers. "I don't care if you think I am too hard. Driving marines and crew as hard as we can will get the most optimal results. Anyone who cannot meet the standards will be replaced and that includes senior command."
"Do I make myself clear?" He asked the officers.
"What about the security department, Colonel?" Korgnov asked. "Can I expect cooperation if some of the marines get out of hand?"
Nye gave the Tellarite a hard look. "Discipline is the cornerstone to military success. I need my marines to follow orders without a second thought. I want any infraction, no matter how minor, to be dealt with to the full extant of the military code of justice. I want them to regret ever running afoul of military justice."
"So I can crack skulls?" Kornov asked.
"Permission to crack skulls granted." Nye replied.
"Speaking from a medical viewpoint, cracking skulls doesn't improve results. As a matter of fact I don't know any species that has an improved performance with a cracked skull." Anjou spoke out.
Nye turned and gave Anjou a nasty look. "Your medical opinion is irrelevant. That is why you weren't asked. Any marine who spends too much time in sickbay will be chaptered out as a malingerer."
Nye then sized up Anjou. "You look like one of those touchy, feely doctors. Well, if I found out you are giving medical excuses to give a marine a free ride, I'll have your sorry ass practicing medicine on a penal colony. Do you understand?"
Anjou smiled at Nye. "Yes I do Colonel." He replied in a respectful tone. "And anytime your ready, I can install your knuckle implants."
"Why the hell would I need those?" Nye asked.
"Well," Anjou explained "You drag them on the deck all the time. I'd figure they would get worn down and need replacement."
Nye stood puzzled for a moment. A look of understanding crossed his face and he turned a bright shade of red. "You just got yourself that demotion and transfer out of here you little smart ass." Nye told Anjou. Nye then turned to Sorvok. "I want you to make that happen."
"It will be complicated Colonel." Sorvok replied. "There was a large fire on the carrier USS Roanoke. All available medical personnel have been engaged. Simply put, Anjou cannot be replace for the time being."
"Are you shitting me?" Nye yelled at Sorvok. "You better not be lying. I'll kick your ass up between your shoulder blades if you are."
"Colonel, I am a Vulcan. I cannot lie." Sorvok impersonally informed Nye. "And physical threats against me will not change the current outcome."
Nye was frustrated. "Alright then." He turned and pointed at Anjou. "You are on my shit list." And with that he walked out of the room.
"Wow, he was a bigger asshole than I thought." Shalvari noted.
"I kinda like him." Kornov told the others.
Sparrer just looked at Korgnov. "The guy is a maniac. How did he manage to stay in Star Fleet?"
"He is an efficient officer." Sorvok replied.
"He is an efficient killer that knows who his masters are." Ryngwyth told them. "He is one of Admiral Nechayev's favorites."
"Yeah." Anjou stated to Sorvok. "I don't know whether to thank you or hate you for keeping me on this ship Commander. I know you were covering for me."
"Neither." Sorvok flatly replied. "You are an efficient physician, despite your acts of insubordination."
"I bet you made graphs and charts to come to that conclusion." Anjou told Sorvok.
"It would be only logical to do that." Sorvok responded. He then picked up his PaDD. "Would you be interested in looking over my computations?"
"Um, some other time." Anjou replied with a smile.
