What does Ops do Again?

Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 1000Hrs - May 3rd, 2391

Rykar casually walked into the operations department area, where Jiao Anderson and Grek where handling supply records.

Lieutenant Jiao Anderson held a PADD in her hands as she frowned. "We need more foodstuffs. We'll run out in a month... I'll stick in a request with the Avalon, when she gets here to bring in some new fresh fruits."

Grek began to fill in the form when he said," And I'm guessing the usual 'Specialty' items as well too."

"Some of them..." Jiao responded. "I know Torilla is looking for some childrens toys as well as items for twin toddlers." she raised an eyebrow. "Apparently Security needs some new equipment. Mostly new weapons and the like."

McDougal walked through the door as he narrowly missed a smaller being he didn't see at first. "Oh hello." he greeted Rykar before he handed his PADD to Jiao. "Engineering's requests ma'am."

"Thank you.." she glanced up before she spotted Rykar. "Commander...What can we do for you?"

"I'm the new Operations chief," Rykar said simply," I take it you are in charge of supply."

Jiao Anderson nodded. "Yessir... that is me."

Rykar then added," Whom has been in charge of this department before me then."

"Thats was Lieutenant Kurzkai, a Cardassian officer who transferred without any warning." Anderson explained. "She was big on record keeping so you should find all of her paperwork just fine.." she indicated a desk which was unused. "That desk was hers."

Rykar went over to the desk and looked at the ops roster first. First thing that caught her attention was the utter lack of lieutenants in the department, and the fact that there where only one lieutenant JG. every other officer position was filled with ensigns. She then asked, "why does this department have almost nothing but ensigns for the officer positions."

"Ops on this ship has always gotten the shaft." Jiao explained. "You should have seen the cretins we replaced... Its a wonder they got anything done really." she explained. "Nobody else has been promoted because nobody thinks any of us are worthy."

Rykar gave an annoyed sigh," That seems to be a common problem on this ship."

"Yes. I know... However... we're cleaning it out... slowly.." Jiao responded.

Rykar looked around, saying, "Wont the admiralty just send more though, lets face it, they do use this ship as their personal garbage disposal, all because they don't like dedicated warships."

"The Admiralty all need a collective enima." Jiao responded. "They value peace, love and trust above all else." she responded. "My opinion is that they are a collection of foolish old men and women who need to be taken out back and shot...." her smile slowly widened. "did I say that out loud?"

Rykar didn't exactly know what to make of jiao's comment, so she said nothing and simply sat down at her new desk.
