"You have nothing to worry about." Olga Vaal told Daisy Rohr. "You should be excited."

"I know." Daisy told Olga. "I am a little excited."

"And I am sure this will be the first of many." Olga smiled at Daisy.

"What!" Daisy shouted. "No, I don't think so."

"Pfft, you the mother type." Olga joked with her. "You'll want at least three kids, maybe five."

"Five! Oh I hope not." Daisy laughed. The door chimed and Daisy replied that the door was open. Daisy's mother, Zydu, walked in and Daisy's mouth hit the floor.

"I need to get going." Olga politely told Daisy.

"Alright." Daisy smiled at Olga as she left.

"Hello, Daisy." Zydu greeted her. "I would have thought Orthos warned you that I was arriving?"

"Hello Mother." Daisy responded. "He did, I just wasn't expecting you this fast."

"So, I see it is true. You are a Marine." Zydu told Daisy with a little anger in her voice.

"And what's wrong with my career choice?" Daisy asked Zydu.

It was clear that Zydu wasn't expecting that kind of response from Daisy. "Because..." Zydu tried to find the words, "Your nothing better than a thug."

"What?" Daisy was almost hurt by her Mother's words.

"I am sorry to tell you that." Zydu was angry but seeing Daisy's reaction she tried to temper her words. "Ajax is a neurosurgeon, Titus is a terraforming engineer, Ambrosia is a nanotechnology engineer, and you shoot people. Can you at least see who the underachiever is?"

Daisy bit her lips at her Mother's words. "I don't believe your saying that. I'm proud to be a member of Star Fleet and proud to be a Marine." She shot back at her Mother. "Without Star Fleet the Federation would have been conquered by the Borg or the Dominion."

Zydu was a little angered by Daisy's words. "Star Fleet brought the Borg back and antagonized the Dominion into a war." Zydu's words caused Daisy's face to turn a dark shade red. Zydu decided to try a different route.

"Star Fleet doesn't appreciate your intellect." Zydu told Daisy. "They could have at least put you in a science field or used you as an engineer. Instead, they saw you as part Klingon and made you a soldier."

Daisy took in a deep breath. "Mother, Star Fleet offered to let me become a scientist or engineer. I choose to be a Marine." Zydu was stunned. The reaction didn't go unnoticed by Daisy. "I looked into those options but for the life of me I don't want to be sitting at a computer or lab table."

Zydu almost looked a little nervous now. "You wanted to be a warrior?"

Daisy thought about the question. "Yes." Came the simple reply.

Zydu's apprehension turned to anger. "And you enjoy fighting?" It was more of an accusation than question.

"Yes." Daisy promptly responded. "I can feel my heart beating and a fire in my stomach. I long for battle and I am most alive while fighting. I am a Marine and I am a warrior."

Zydu was just shaking her head no all the time Daisy was talking. "But you are a Klingon!" She pleaded with her daughter.

"Yes I am!" Daisy yelled back. "Let me be who I am!"

It was at this time the door chime rang.

Torilla Yamaguchi walked into the office. "Ahh good... I'm just in time." she commented evenly. "Doctor... You will show My Marine Commander a measure of respect or I will have you tossed off this ship... do I make myself clear?" Yamaguchi did not raise her voice.

"You would be advised to think about that Commander." Zydu informed Yamaguchi. "I am a well placed academic in the Federation hierarchy. we are not ordered about by Star Fleet types."

Yamaguchi did not look intimidated in the least. "Do I look human to you Doctor?, you have confused me for someone else." she paused. "Allow me to demonstrate." as the monitor on Daisy's desk picked itself up and flew to within a few inches of the older Klingon womans face. "I don't like it when people come onto my ship and start yelling at friends of mine.."

"This conversation is between me and my Klingon daughter." Zydu told Yamaguchi. "She has special needs that a Raeyan such as yourself wouldn't understand."

"Thats nice... it includes me now...." as Torilla raised an eyebrow, before she started to dig in her heels. "I won't be talked down to by anyone... Do take care otherwise I'll be escorting you off this ship myself..." there was no mistaking the dark fury in the other womans tone.

Zydu was silent for a moment. "I did not come here to pick a fight with you or my Daughter." She turned back to Daisy. "I am concerned about you. I would like to pick up this conversation later, after we all have calmed down." Zydu turned to Yamaguchi "Is there a cafe' on this ship?"

"Yes... the Green Dragon.." Yamaguchi responded. "Deck Ten, Section One."

"Thank you Commander." Zydu replied. "I'll return when you are off duty."

"I'll meet you in my quarters." Daisy replied.

Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow as she gave the Doctor a look. "She needs to keep her blood pressure down." she indicated Daisy.

"She's my daughter. I'll be gentle with her." Zydu told Yamaguchi before leaving.

Yamaguchi frowned as she held her silence. "I am starting to hate that woman..." she growled.

"She can be trying." Daisy told Torilla. "She kinda makes you miss the Klingons that just fly into rages."

"She does." Torilla responded evenly. "If she starts... call security to have them escort her off the ship okay?"
