The Rescue Mission - Part Two

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - Near Mesquite Station, Utgarde IV
Timeline: 1030Hrs - June 6th, 2393

Kell Tainer regarded the display. "Its this terrain. We almost can't see squat," he grumbled. "Lead to flight, anyone got anything?" he inquired over the net.

"Negative skipper, we're still looking."

Yamaguchi was busy tending to the massive marine who was seated in a chair before her. "Any ideas where your guys could be.?" the small female asked as she handed him a rather large container of water in it. "Now take your time and drink that," she added in a gentle tone of voice.

"Commander Tainer," Noq't's voice came over the comm, "Can you please give me a status report?"

Cyclops tapped his combadge. "We've recovered one marine, wounded but he looks alright. Autumn is checking him over now," he responded to Noq't request. "We're continuing our search," he added.

"Wait, I think I saw something," Ballard commented in a hesitant tone of voice.

"Well. no worries John. Let's check it out." Tainer answered in a cheerful tone of voice.

Ballard smiled, he liked serving with Tainer as this was a man who encouraged his people to speak up, to stand up, to be seen and to be heard. "Aye skipper, coming in for a landing now." as the Delta Flyer landed, the aft hatch popped open and out came several people with Autumn Yamaguchi in the lead.

The small human female opened her tricorder as she began scanning. "Let's see.. fan out guys. Call if you see anything"

The ebony skinned medic, N'tambay, lay supine in the rocks. She could hardly move due to exposure. She did turn her head in the direction of Olga Vaal. "Gunny," came out a cracked whisper, "do you hear shuttles?"

Vaal struggled to reply, "I think it might be our imagination."

Massi Sh'zaleern picked her way through the rocks until she suddenly picked up lifesigns. "Autumn. Autumn!" she screamed. The small human female heard and rushed speedily to the Andorian's side. "I think I might have found someone."

"Let's go. My guys, with me" Yamaguchi turned, her four charges following in silence until they came upon a scene out of an old-style disaster movie. Yamaguchi tapped her combadge. "Yamaguchi to Noq't. We've found them, repeat. We found them. Looks like sixty or so and they are all in bad shape, send the search teams here."

"This is Commander Noq't to all units except those flying CAP, converge on Dr. Yamaguchi's location. Noq't out." Noq't then turned to the pilot, "That includes our shuttle."

The responses came back over the comm chatter, meanwhile, the pilot nodded. "On our way Commander." the pilot answered with a smile.

Meanwhile, Autumn Yamaguchi was coordinating her people. "Alright. We need to secure these guys for evac as soon as possible." as she indicated the area with her hands. "The marines will be scattered all over the place. Help as many as possible, help is coming." she and her people then went to work with the practice of a well-oiled machine, all its parts working together.

Yamaguchi knelt over a dark-skinned female, a medic by the looks of her gear. "Hey sweetie, you're gonna be okay," she said to N'tambay as she gently administered some medication, meant to hydrate the young woman, meanwhile several more medics came over before to assist with the efforts.

The Andorian meanwhile was marking locations for the transporters when Tainer came over to her. "The transporters are ready Massi, whenever you are."

"We can only get a few at a time, with this damned terrain." The Andorian growled, in an annoyed tone of vice.

"Something is better than nothing," Tainer responded gently. "At least we don't need to pick them all up, possibly losing more of them while their rescue is here." Tainer indicated the marine wounded, all over the place.

"Yeah. Your right." The Andorian sighed softly.

"When this is over. You and I are going for a drink okay?" Tainer commented. "I'd say we've earned it."

"Yeah, plus their skipper is going to fry for this travesty." the Andorian added.

"Oh fuck yeah, I want to be there to see this go down but... I'll settle for a smile out of you."

The Andorian regarded him before she raised an eyebrow. "Hows that?"

"Because you are too hard on yourself. We found them and we're gonna bring them home, this a good day in anyone's book so why isn't it in yours?"
Tainer inquired. "I tell you what. You and I can go out to dinner tonight, just the two of us and we can leave work at the office. Wear something nice and no, your uniform or something that looks like it does not count." as he gently smiled at her. "Come on, let's get this done."

"Yes. Lets." The Andorian found herself actually looking forward to their dinner date this evening.

Meanwhile, Yamaguchi smiled as she regarded an older female wearing the rank of Gunnery Sergent. "Hey Gunny. Let me help you with that." as she gently injected Olga with some medication, designed to help hydrate someone who was severely dehydrated. "We're not your imagination, we're real and you are all going home."

Olga struggled as she sat up. "Thank you, Doctor. There is also another party of marines we left behind." She told Autumn. "I also have one Boromite headed out ahead."

"Easy Gunny, you've just been through a brutal experience." as she handed the older woman a thermos. "Ice cold, drink it all. We found the second group and the Boromite, he led us straight to you, more or less. Unx refused aid until we recovered all of you so he's presently on one of the Runabouts." she added. "Let's get you ready for evac." she added.

Olga nodded and looked relieved. She then stopped to try and pull a small PADD out of her cargo pocket. "Here, a list of all of us at the drop point."

"Nice." Yamaguchi gently took the PADD from the Gunny. "Thank you for this. It'll greatly help me," she responded as a couple of orderlies came over. "You ready to go Gunny?" the lead inquired in a gentle tone.

Olga tried to talk but couldn't. She just nodded.

"Alright, then if you'll lay back, we'll get you loaded and take you to somewhere a lot cooler then this place." the lead orderly said, a gentle smile on his face.

Meanwhile, the open area nearby was now a parking lot of a dozen or so runabouts with dozens of medics carrying wounded out to the runabouts. Ouros meanwhile was lying on her side, she was hallucinating and was in really bad shape as Saia Azuresteel tripped over her. "Shit," she commented as she went over. "Medic. I need a medic over here." as she gently touched Ouros Yamaguchi's face with her fingers, the young woman was hot to the touch, which meant she was in very bad shape. A medic rushed over to Azurewsteels side as he began looking over Ouros. "Oh shit, this one is the worst of the lot, it's a small miracle she's not dead."

"Can you help her.?" Azuresteel asked, in a soft voice.

"Yeah." the man answered as he tapped his hypo and injected Ouros with twice the usual hydration medication. "Stay with us El Tee. We didn't come all this way to have you die on us." the man added as Ouros slowly blinked, her eyes flickered open but they were wide with terror. "El-Tee, can you hear me?"

"Don't hurt me.." Ouros whispered in a soft tone of voice.

"We're from the USS Coral Sea, we're here to rescue you, nobody is going to hurt you El-Tee.." Azuresteel said in a gentle voice as she drew the thermos from her belt. "I'm going to give you some water." as she gently cupped the other woman's face with her arm before she gently began to help the other woman drink. "Easy El-Tee... we have you."

Meanwhile. Tainer nodded to the Commander. "Hey, Skipper. Welcome to the party," he said to Noq't in a soft but jovial tone. "Its a right mess out here but we reckon this is all over them," he explained as Autumn Yamaguchi came over, she was clearly excited about something. "Commander. Skipper, The gunny was kind enough to give me this before we evac'ed her, it's their roster so we can check who we have and who we don't have."

"Thank you, Doctor. So Gunnery Sergeant Vaal was medivaced? Was she the ranking officer here?" Noq't asked.

Yamaguchi shook her head. "According to the roster, that's a guy named Sternwald but I have two First Lieutenants, the first of T'Kera Duval, she's already been evacuated to the Coral Sea and her mother is doubtless wanting to see her daughter. Not that I blame T'Nae for that." she paused. "I'd be the same way of anything happened to the kids." she sighed softly. "The second is a Lieutenant Ouros Yamaguchi." I believe she's still here." Yamaguchi sounded unsure of herself.

Noq't looked to Tainer. "Here Commander, transmit the information on here to the Coral Sea. A small team will stay here until we can reasonably account for all the names on this list."

"Willdo, right away skipper." and with that, he moved into the runabout and did as he was asked. "Search party to the Coral Sea. We have data for you."

"Go ahead." came T'Nae's voice, that made Tainer smile. His skipper was indeed a woman who knew how to leads her people and not abandon her post., even to see to her family. Tainer tapped the display a few times as he began uploading the information. "This is a roster of everyone who was present. Check them off against the guys we recovered already will ya kindly?"

"Copy, we'll let you know who we have. Coral Sea out." came the answer.

Tainer turned as he went over to the pilot. "What's the status of our loading?" he inquired.

"Four runabouts have already departed and two more are reporting they will be full shortly. I told them to take off and not wait for clearance." technically this was a major act of insubordination but he guessed that Tainer would either overlook it or not care about it.

Tainer nodded. "When we're finished, forward your file to my Exec. I have a use for a man like you," he answered with a smile before he turned. "Carry on with what you were doing." and with that, Tainer stepped out of the runabout again as two sets of medics brought in two wounded.

Just then another runabout began taking off, within seconds it had become airborne and was heading for space. Tainer came over to Noq't. "Sir. I don't think anyone can find Sternwald anywhere."

"Sternwald is in custody on the Heart of the Tiger awaiting a transport back to Star Fleet Headquarters. He is the catalyst for this disaster." Noq't replied.

Tainer sighed. "Lovely," he responded in a quiet tone.

"Indeed, lovely. We are done here and our crew can be proud of their performance. We should return to the Coral Sea." Noq't told Tainer.

"Yessir," Tainer responded, while the two were talking, another two runabouts finished loading and took off with their cargos of the most precious kind. He turned. "How we doing?"

"Almost fully loaded." came the half-expected response.

Tainer turned back to Noq't. "Shall we skipper?"

Noq't gave a slight smile. "Yes, we shall. Take us home."
