Mission: Mission 117: A Quality of Mercy
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard
Timeline: 0930Hrs - January 3rd, 2394

Grand General Calis Fordring was tired. She was waiting for the com call that she knew was going to dramatically affect the lives of everyone who was related to her by blood, mostly in various highly dramatic and crazed ways. She had only been out of bed for about three hours and she had taken a few days off from her posting for this matter.

Fordring, better known as 'Malice' was the present holder of the office of the commanding officer of starfighter forces, in the Alpha Quadrant. It was a fancy title that meant she was responsible for a lot of people, resources, equipment and infrastructure, all scattered across a vast area of space. Now she was taking a week off as she wished to tend to a family matter. She was sitting at her kitchen table while she was meditating.

For those who knew her, she might look cool, calm and collected but for those who knew her. Malice was anything but calm. She was afraid of what she was about to be told. She lifted her drink to her lips as she sought to calm herself. Malice knew that this was going to get very stupid very fast, especally if it was the worst-case scenario.

Almost as if the hour was nigh and the tides of doom approached. The beeping of her com unit went off.

Malice sighed. "My, aren't we melodramatic in the morning," she said aloud to herself. She gently tapped the display before her. "Fordring Alpha Alpha Theta Nineteen." she input her security code into the display before her. As expected she found herself face-to-face with the Vrykul Ambassador. "Ambassador. What can I do for you?" Malice inquired.

"The council has been in touch with me. They have informed me of the punishment for your mother." he paused as he smiled. "She is to be placed on probation for the next twenty-one years," he explained to Malice. "As long as she has children in her house then the probation period will remain in effect. The reason that she is on probation with no other actions taken against her is because of the level of cooperation she showed during our investigation."

Malice paused. This was unexpected. "I had no idea," she responded.

"I can understand. If it were my mother in this situation. I don't know." the Ambassador admitted in a soft tone of voice. "But all of that said. Galiaan Fordring has cooperated with our investigation, and that should be noted," he explained. "I am sending you the files in question. Also, I'm sending you the documentation that your mother will want to see. Mostly so she does not think I'm screwing with her." he added.

Malice picked up a PADD, She tapped several buttons before she slid the PADD into a port on the display, and she nodded. "Downloading those files now," she commented. "I'll give these the once over before I take these to my parents," she added, by way of explanation.

"Of course." The Vrykul Ambassador nodded in understanding. "Well. I should let you go take care of matters, and put this issue to rest... Hopefully forever." he responded before he huffed a sigh at Malice. "Also, do thank your parents for the time, attention and efforts into this matter." he paused a moment. "Hopefully I won't have cause to look at Galiaan Fordring again for anything other than happy news."

"We can hope," Malice answered, a gentle smile on her face as she said it. "Right, I'd best be off. Paperwork to process and read before I go bother people with unhappy news. You understand right?"

"I do." The Ambassador answered with a nod. "Thank you for your time, General." With that, he hung up as the Vrykul emblem appeared on the display. "Making me turn against my own parents," Malice growled softly. "I'm not going to do this again, find someone else, fuckface." she quickly pulled up the files, so she could get this over with. She wanted this distasteful event consigned to the trash can of history where she felt it belonged.

Malice read through them, and they more or less confirmed what she already suspected that they were formally clearing Galiaan Fordring of any charges of negligence or child endangerment. Malice read through all of the paperwork in silence. She siped her drink as she went about committing the paperwork to memory.

Malice finished after a few minutes. She then finished her drink before she rose to her feet. She knew she would need a few moments to pull herself back together before she would be ready to face her parents. The news that she had been told would need to be shared sooner rather than later. Malice knew she could not simply go charging into this one. She would be to be cool. calm and collected.

Malice reached down, she quickly tugged on her boots before she set off to find her parents.
