Changing of the Guard - Part Six

Posted on Fri Sep 30th, 2022 @ 5:06am by Grand Admiral Kelly Pravdin

Mission: Mission 108: Grains of Sand
Location: Various Locations - Starfleet Command
Timeline: 0800Hrs - December 2nd, 2393

Grand Admiral Kelly Pravdin smiled as she felt the rush of hot water wash over her while she took a shower, sex with her husband was always great first thing in the morning, the man pinned her and had his way with her often and it was something she enjoyed greatly. Pravdin sighed happily as she washed her body.

Meanwhile, nearby in the kitchen was her husband, making breakfast, the two would often simply remain in their quarters while Kelly Pravdin did the paperwork and Arthur Pravdin cooked his various dishes and did research on new dishes. It was a partnership that worked well and they had few issues and secrets between them as Arthur knew his wife would have been told specific things that she was to keep to herself as that was what her job demanded. He had accepted this long ago and so had their children who were all off, living their own lives, many of them with their own families and children to deal with.

Arthur flipped the pancakes in the pan and he caught them on the way back down, it was simply a matter of physics and he simply enjoyed cooking. He knew what life was like with the woman who was presently taking a shower as a smile graced his lips. He looked down at the pancakes as they cooked in the pan before he flipped them, upon seeing that they were finished cooking, he flipped the pan over and dropped the two pancakes onto a nearby plate. "There we go," he commented

Pravdin finished cooking his spouse's breakfast before he turned everything off and began to clean up. While he was finishing off, the door opened and out walked his spouse, wearing her uniform. "Ahh, those smell great." Kelly Pravdin commented with a wide smile on her lips.

"Help yourself, both are for you. I'm going to have a tuna and cheese sandwich from the replicator as I'm not feeling very hungry today." Arthur explained, a smile on his lips.

"You okay?" Kelly inquired of her spouse who nodded. "Yeah, I'm just not hungry."

"Fair enough. I am going to enjoy these," Kelly answered as she began to eat her food, she felt bad that her husband wasn't hungry and she wondered if she was missing something but then she dismissed the notion with a helpful shove, if her husband wanted to tell her that something was wrong, he would and nothing she said or did would persuade him otherwise.

Suddenly, both of their thoughts were interrupted and the silence was shattered by the ship's com system. "Attention all personnel, this is the Captain, we'll be arriving at Starbase One Oh Five within ten minutes, shore leave will be granted but it'll only be a few days. Welcome to the Lantia Sector. Bridge out." as the com system went silent again.

"Lovely. We have almost no time to pack." Arthur said to his wife. She nodded. "You go find our new home and I'll go report in and take command of the fleet assets here, neither will take us long." Kelly Pravdin answered.

"Sounds good to me," Arthur answered with a smile. "Cleaning up has never been an issue," he added as the two of them tended to live out of a suitcase when they were travelling, so their packing was mostly done, it was just cleaning up after living in their accommodations but then the word was that some Admirals lived like slobs and as far as Kelly was concerned, she believed that many of her fellow Admirals were slobs because they could do whatever they wished and nobody could say or do anything about it. Woe to the person who did.

Kelly and Arthur's packing would be to put away one item back into her bag and strip the bed and make sure the bathroom was clean, then they would turn over these quarters for the operations personnel to tear apart and clean up how they normally did but then that was for them to sort out and not for the Pravdin's. Kelly was a very good housekeeper and this was something she believed very strongly. Arthur agreed with his spouse on matters of cleanliness. It was also something the two had passed onto their children.

Arthur went over to the replicator and got himself a sandwich to eat, he came over and sat back down next to his wife as she was working on her second pancake, the two ate in silence as they both agreed that silence was best at the dinner table. Even when their entire family was together, the dinner table was silent as it was for eating and not for talking, that part would come later as it always did.

Kelly missed her children and she didn't care who knew it as Arthur slowly smiled. Clearly, something had amused him.

"What?" was the first words that Kelly had said in close to five minutes.

"I was just thinking that here we go again, off to put out someone else's brushfire. Didn't you join Starfleet to explore?"

"I forgot why I joined, to be honest," Kelly commented in a light tone of voice as she rose to her feet. She finished the last of the pancake in one smooth motion before she went to recycle their dishes. "Let's go pack and get going."

"Right behind you," Arthur answered softly.

An hour or so later. Grand Admiral Kelly Pravdin walked into her office on her first day as Commanding Officer of Starfleet forces. Beta Quadrant. The middle-aged human woman entered her new office. She shifted her attention from left to right as a gentle smile appeared on the Human woman's face. She turned her attention to her new aide as she carefully removed the smile from her lips. Pravdin knew that her smiling was distracting, to say the least. "So... Chief. I am to work here?" she inquired of the younger woman before her.

"Yep. This is your office ma'am." Chief Petty Officer Tobi Greenfield answered the older human woman before her. "Mine will be right outside and I will handle your various administration needs," she commented. "Since you are the new Commanding officer for Starfleet forces, Beta Quadrant. You'll be required to attend a lot of meetings at various times." Greenfield paused. "I will try to keep things from getting too insane for you," she added with a gentle smile on her face.

"Okay," Pravdin answered with a nod of her head. "All of that sounds good to me." the older woman added, after a moment. "What's my first order of the day?" she inquired as she turned her head to look at Greenfield. Pravin then gently sat down on one of the various chairs in her new office. The place had a rather spartan feeling to it and it was something that she felt would need attention to make it look a little more inviting.

Pravdin knew that this was not the fault of the previous occupant who had moved to Earth for her own new posting but rather it was simply the Starbase Logistics department doing what they did best. Make something fit into a box and keep things spartan in appearance.

Pravdin knew that she had some very serious redecorating to do to make this space seem like somewhere that she could call her own. She slipped the case off of her back which she then placed onto the desk. Pravin slowly opened it before she pulled out two items. One was a picture of her and her spouse, on their wedding day. The picture brought many good memories for her as she quickly unwrapped it and then she placed it onto the desk. Now this space was hers. Once and for all and she was ready to begin her work.
