Mission:
Mission 68: Unsteady is the Head the Wears the Crown
Location: Council Chambers - Kronos, OMEGA LEONIS
Timeline: 0900Hrs - April 5th, 2392
General Klag was seated at his desk as he tapped the display once as he highlighted the border area between the Klingon Empire and the Gorn Hegemony. He tapped the display twice in quick sucession before the display zoomed in to display a half dozen systems. "Mmm.. We will need to seize this starbase first." He said aloud before he looked over at one of the three Generals in the room.
They were named in order of seniority. H'ruga, Rolmoq and Kruloth. The three of them commanded various forces and fleets, they also had various styles of command and personality preferences. Also what helped separate them was that Rolmoq and Kruloth were both male whereas H'ruga was female.
Klag regarded the three Generals. "You... will seize the starbase while maximizing surprise." he responded. "Select from yourselves who will do so. I will assign the other two of you orders afterwards."
Klag turned back to drawing up his plans while the three Generals bickered and fought for the honor to attack the Starbase. "Generals." Klag turned his head as he chuckled softly in amusement as the three of them were still arguing.
"House Dak'r will be most honored to lead the assault." Kruloth told Klag.
"I'm sure you will." Rolmoq stated. "I'm also sure that House Dak'r vessels will not be in the first wave. Well, they won't be in the first wave if objectives are to be claimed."
"What are you saying Rolmoq?" Kruloth asked, his voice laced with anger. "Are you stating that House Dak'r warriors cannot fight?"
"Kruloth, I will keep this simple so even a thick headed swamp ox such as yourself could understand." Rolmoq stated with a slight smirk. "I'm not stating that you warriors are cowards. They do not have the mental capacity to reason fear, much like rabid targs. I am stating that Dak'r tactics are simple charging towards the enemy with guns blazing. If they are to lead an assault, then the subsequent waves of attacks that would be needed would be slowed down and hindered by the wreckage of your destroyed warships."
Kruloth's face was red with anger. "What do H'rus dogs know of war?" His voice filled with so much anger as to barely sound coherent. "You let other more noble and honorable house do the hard fighting for you. After the firing stops and blades are sheathed do you crawl from your hiding places to plant your wretched standard between the corpses of true warriors. You return from war with clean blades and without scars."
Something Kruloth said struck a nerve with Rolmoq. "Your house is nothing more than a collection of brutish thugs. They deserve nothing more than to be slain against the defenses of the Gorn. When your warriors are floating dead through the vastness of space impotent and forever silent I will not salute your dead. I will just laugh at their folly."
"I have had enough of your bloated tongue!" Kruloth went for his blade. Before had could draw it Rolmoq had his pistol out. Kruloth thought for a moment and returned his dagger. "You truly are a coward." He told Rolmoq.
"If you survive the war, which given you abilities seems unlikely, I will kill you with my own bat'leth." Rolmoq told him.
"And given your Houses talent for avoiding conflict I am sure you will survive the war." He relied. "I look forward to when my bat'leth bites into your hide."
Rolmoq seriously thought about just shooting Kruloth right there. He then realized what kind of mistake that would be. Looking to see Klag and H'ruga, Rolmoq holstered his weapon. "Another time, Dak'r" He hissed.
A little while later, after things had been hammered out between his three subordinates who he felt all needed to bed someone else as they all came across as very high strung. Klag was on his way to the high council chambers where he was expected.
He was ushered inside and he presented himself to J'mpok. "Chancellor. I have completed my plans for Operation: Sledgehammer."
J'mpok extended his hand. "Very well. I will read over them and I will get back to you by tomorrow.." as Klag handed the plans over. "Yes Chancellor." and with that Klag turned and walked out. J'mpok turned as he slid the data rod into a nearby port as he activated the display. "Now Lets discuss this... and see where we might improve on General Klag's plans." J'mpok said.
The shouting match started almost as soon as he said it. J'mpok smiled as he expected this to happen.
When Klag came into his office the next morning, there was a note waiting for him. "Battleplan is approved as submitted. Invasion is to start on the Seventh of the month... assemble your forces and CRUSH the Gorn.
Signed this day in the name of Khaless
J'mpok. Chancellor of the Empire."
Klag smiled as he began the process of marshalling his forces for the invasion. He had a lot to do and not a lot of time to do it in.
