Martial Arts Due to her self-esteem issues, she sank a lot of time into parkour, something she felt she could enjoy on her own, it was something she started to test herself to her limits but she grew to enjoy it for the stress relief. |
| Personal History | Born in 2361. Arlene Duval-Connor was Heather Duval's fourth of five children. She was born on Starbase 133 in the late morning and she spent most of her childhood being raised on Federation Starbases being raised by her father while her mother was off serving in Starfleet, furthering her career while dad was content to be a civilian writer. Arlene was raised in a happy household and her family would come to call Starbase 67 home. Arlene decided that she would follow her brothers into the academy and join Starfleet rather than enlist like Nadine or her father, it was not an expectation that either she or her siblings join Starfleet as mom greatly prefered that her children follow their own paths rather than follow her everywhere she went. As Arlene had spent her entire childhood on Starbase 67, living on the base had her develop a feeling of being confined and cooped up, and like her siblings, she wished to get out and see the galaxy so again, like her siblings. Arlene joined Starfleet. Arlene joined Starfleet in 2379 and her time at the academy was educational. Arlene went into Engineering, following in her mother's footsteps rather than tactical like Lawrence and her father. Arlene also met a fellow student and while her relationship with him was turbulent and tempestuous at times, the two were able to make things work enough to have two pregnancies, one with twins before their relationship fell apart in mid-2382, they split apart and she kept full custody of their three children. Arlene decided she would go one step further and she did not divorce her husband, she had their marriage annulled, the court sided with her and agreed. The issue was dealt with almost instantly, while Arlene's children spent a few weeks with their grandmother Heather who was only too happy to babysit for her daughter. The grandkids enjoyed it too as they were spoilt absolutely rotten. Their opinions of their father were worse than bad, they simply didn't know who he was as he was never present. This was something that their mother or their grandmother had any intentions of resolving, preferring instead to tell them that their father was not worth thinking about. It did not help the kids that their mother had begun dating again and soon their step-father would become their father in fact as well as in name as when James Connor, brother to Robert Connor, wed Arlene, he simply adopted her children as his. Heather Duval found herself liking her new son-in-law as the man was loyal and honest. He was the classic stay-at-home dad while mom was working on her career. What helped James Connor's case was that he was always looking after the kids, especially when Arlene became pregnant with child four. A boy that James requested be named for Arlene's father. James felt he had inherited a dire situation, and had to prove himself to be better than the other guy. Enrique disagreed but he did not dissuade James from proving his worth. Which he did over and over again. James often takes the children with him while mom is off with the fleet. What helps Arlene is that James calls her twice a week with the kids and a third when its just him, wanting time alone with his wife. |
