Personality & Traits

General Overview A very procedural man. He has a set order and way to the way he does things. It is what has made him such a good Engineer and also what has frustrated the staff under him. He is the kind of person that will stop and start over from the beginning if you interrupt his process. Max can get it done faster than most, and can guarantee the work to last, so long as you leave him to his process. Interruptions don't work out well for the interrupter.

Not softspoken, but hardly ever harsh. He speaks clearly and to the point to make his orders known and his opinions, should be fortunate to hear them. A Non-Comm to the fullest degree. He takes his orders, does his job well and doesn't complain. Llewelyln has a hard time dealing with whining Officers (particularly Cadets and Ensigns) who are taking residence in his Engineering decks. Has had more than one brush with an overly cocksure Ensign. Cool under pressure.

Rough and firm with his boys in their upbringing, but completely disarmed by his daughter. Something she is learning to take advantage of.
Strengths & Weaknesses Strength's:
- Diagnostic Engineering, Warp Theory and Creative Solutions. There are few Engineers in the Fleet that can stand toe-to-toe with Max in situations requiring a diagnosis and a less than standard solution. He's not quite sure himself how he manages to do it, but he has a well established knack for it. Additionally, in terms of Warp Theory, he is one of the best in active service in manipulating and adjusting the basic tenets of Warp Theory in favor of the vessel utilizing it. Has actually been asked by Starfleet Academy to teach the advanced courses on the topic.

- Organization and effective leadership. Max is gifted at taking chaotic situations and personalities and structuring them to a desired end. He's the perfect selection for a battlefield Engineer as he is always cool under pressure and knows how to get his point across clearly.

- Resource. He's been in Starfleet longer than most Fleet Captains and has a plethora of experience at his disposal. As an Engineer he's one of the best, but as a resource to a Commanding Officer, he's virtually priceless.

- Mathematical equation, and complex algorithmic calculation. Has an almost scary innate ability to work higher mathematical problems in his head.

Weaknesses:

- Emotional distress. Has made a few young crewmates (females) cry due to his firm nature and generally matter-of-fact way of dealing. In these situations he is all but helpless.

- Life Sciences, Medicine and Abstract Scientific Theory. He leans towards the 'proveables' as he calls them. Does not understand, nor does he attempt to understand complex science and medicine.
Ambitions To continue to enjoy his career.
Hobbies & Interests When planetside, he enjoy the outdoors.

While shipside, he prefers outdoor simulations on the holodeck. A quiet lake, a fishing boat and a few hours to kill is his ideal scenario

Personal History The Llewellyn family is a lineage that dates back to antiquity, though the majority of that line left Earth with some of the first human settlers to explore the Galaxy and make a new life beyond what they knew on Earth. Maxwell was born to a branch of that same family on the far outskirts of Federations space.

Named Maxwell after his father, like all of the oldest boys in his family dating back generations, he was never like the rest of his family. His parents and siblings believed whole-heartedly in the family farm, the idea of toiling under the sun and making one's way through hard work and agricultural skill. Max never bought into that lifestyle, though he never once spoke ill of it, nor has he since he left. His mind always drifted to the stars.

In school, Max outpaced his siblings as well as the majority of the other children in mathematics and physics though his skills were lacking in grammar and biological sciences. It was clear that his strengths were not quite the skills that one would expect in a master of growing things. While the other students were scratching their heads trying to figure out the complex math equations, Max was pressing the teacher on the higher proofs in the next chapter of the book. His father could see his son drifting from the family in that respect and did everything he could to keep him in the fold, but he knew that deep down the boy wasn't going to fit in here.

Since he was a boy, Max Jr had been skilled at fixing things, been fascinated by anything that flew into space and utterly drawn to the truth that humans could move a ship at speeds faster than light. The boy never missed a chance to talk to anyone from Starfleet that might be passing through, or to any spacer patient enough to share a few words with him. Yet, for all of his fascination, Max never acted on it. He knew that he would be here on the family plot for the rest of his life. They needed him here, and regardless of what he wanted, he was going to have to stay.

When he turned eighteen, his father took him alone on a trip to Earth. There was a gathering of the settler colonies with the Federation Council to discuss a myriad of topics. But that wasn't why Max had taken his eldest son.

While the meeting was to be in Paris, they stopped in San Francisco, outside a Starfleet recruiting station. Max looked to his boy and told him that this was his one and only chance to follow his own dream. He knew that he wanted to be out in the stars, not home farming in the sun, and he would never have forgiven himself if he had forced him to stay. Junior didn't know what to say. It was his dream, and with his father's blessing, he took the opportunity and never once looked back. Starfleet training was quick and thorough and it wasn't long before Max was out in the Fleet as a Crewman.

As it turned out, Max's affinity for mathematics served him well and it didn't take him long to be a stand-out in Warp Engineering. His additional skills at ascertaining a problem and fixing it quickly also earned him a reputation as a go-getter that got the job done. It helped him climb the ladder quickly.

Thirty-Nine years after having joined Starfleet, Maxwell Llewellyn is known as the consummate NCO. His loyalty is always unquestioned and his skills always reliable. Outside of his job he is a dedicated family man with a wife and three children and despite the fact that he left his family on the outskirts of the Federation long ago, he's never let them drift out of touch. It is a point of pride, particularly with his father, that he never forgets who he is and where he came from.

In 2388, he was assigned to Starbase 12 as their Command Master Chief, he has since never left the assignment or wanted to move on, here he is happy.
