Personal History The middle daughter of two Starfleet officers Jen grew up on starships, knowing at a very young age that she wanted to join Starfleet and one day command her own ship. Her early years were spent with her head with the stars, gleaming every ounce of information out of her parents as she could.

She joined Starfleet academy when she was 16, majoring in Operations. Along with her classes for Ops she also took extra leadership courses. Her time at the academy was fairly uneventful.

Her first assignment was on board the USS Pennsylvania, a young wide-eyed ensign she fell in love almost at first sight. She threw herself into her career fully, hardly noticing anything else. The one tradition she started on the Pennsylvania that she had managed to keep up until the start of the war was all her friends would pile into her quarters and she would cook them all dinner once a week. It was on this assignment that she met Peter Hanson and fell in love, or so she thought. Being young and naive and relatively inexperienced Jen found herself in a dangerous relationship. Ignoring the advice of her friends and her own gut instinct she remained with Peter. It wasn’t until nearly a year later she saw his true colors. Jen questioned him about his infidelities, when she did he reacted violently. She woke up in sickbay 2 days later, the doctors weren’t sure if she would survive. She did, miraculously though she still bears the emotional scars of that relationship to this day.

At the beginning of the Dominion War Jen was transferred to the USS Charleston. It was during this time she got a good taste of command experience. The Charleston had taken a good bit of damage and to her dismay she was the most senior officer on the bridge. The First Officer had been injured badly and was unconscious on the floor and the CO was somewhere…she didn’t know. She managed to successfully hold off their attackers with some rather unorthodox maneuvers until backup arrived.

The rest of the war passed relatively quietly for Jen. However the first officer of the Charleston never forgot how the young Ops Ensign took command and saved a lot of lives without hesitation. He stuck in the paperwork for her to be promoted and she was given a comendation along with a medal for her actions.

However the emotional effects of her disastrous relationship with Peter and the losses she suffered during the war only caused Jen to throw herself into her work almost entirely, with almost no social life whatsoever. Despite the best efforts of her friends she refused to slow down and actually enjoy life as she once did.

Her hard work, however did pay off as she moved up the chain of command fairly quickly. In 2380 she was transferred to the USS Relentless as the Executive Officer, where she remained for the next year or so. While things for hjer slowly got out of control.

Things however, had always been intresting as Jen Young and Paul Antilles did not get along, they were too similer in some ways and too different in others and so they clashed all of the time. It was Rorik Falcon who told Paul what was fueling the issues. Paul, in response asked Young to consider therapy, off of the record. She outright refused him and then the argument got loud and heated. Antilles was left with no choice but to make this offical. He stuck a reprimand into her file which only agrivated her further.

The reprimand prevented Young from being promoted for a further four years, which only angered her against Antilles to the point where she hated him. What she missed was that she was not being reasionable on the subject as Antilles had donenothing wrong. Antilles, relizing that this battle was lost, decided to quietly stick in paperwork to have her reassigned to another posting, citing workplace issues that cannot be resolved. It would be listed as a reassignment and not a reprimand, thus avoiding a demotion back to Lieutenant.

Jen Young was reassigned to Starbase 133 as their Chief of Operations, her time on the Relentless was highly educational but it also highlighted some issues that she desperatly needed help in dealing with and the crew were either not seeing it or were helping her in avoiding dealing with said issues. Admiral Bradley Mancuso was not sympathetic to her plight as he sided with Antilles without saying so. He said that he had read her file, even the parts covered in black ink and that if she wished to suceed, then she needed to stop running from her issues and deal with them head on.

The pressure on her as a department head was not present this time and so she was able to florish like never before. She acccepted the Admirals orders rather then evade responsibility for her issues, she began to deal with them one at a time, this was an effort she would perform for years and it was one she would do alone.
