| Personal History | Robert Connor was the middle child of his family, born in April of 2354. He grew up as a happy and well-adjusted child but it was his classmate that he had met in school, a girl named Celeste Yamaguchi that would go on to define his life in ways he could never have imagined or dared to guess about. The two spent all their free time together but they had to endure those stupid songs that kids often sang about those who dated but they did all the explorations that lead to sex and on the night of Celeste's fifteenth birthday party, she became pregnant and the news scared both and terrified him in ways he had never imagined. However he resolved to make the best of it, after all, they had each other but what he did not know was that Jessica Yamaguchi had poisoned her daughter to make her abort. When word had gotten out that Celeste had lost her baby, everyone instantly assumed that Rob was behind it and he went from mister popular to mister pariah, however, he was in the middle of relocating to Alpha Centauri and he simply was never given a chance to explain himself, he didn't want it either. In the end, his efforts came to naught, as in his anger, he turned on Celeste and she turned on him. The screaming match was long and loud and they would never speak again, for over twenty-three years with neither knowing where the other was located. What Robert didn't know and would never know was that Jessica had an attack of conscience. She took her daughters unborn and carried it herself, she then gave birth to a lovely little girl and Rob's family had gotten a message saying that Celeste had never miscarried and she wanted to put the child up for adoption. Rob's parents instantly took in the little girl as one of their own and it was made clear to Rob that this was his child and not theirs. He would be expected to be a father to this child. This was a task that Robert took to the task with a level of effort that would make most blush with envy, he was there for all of Jasmine's major life events. By this time, however, Roberts family had relocated from Earth to Alpha Centauri. He was able to enjoy the rest of his years in school but he never forgot or forgave what happened between him and Celeste, but his anger was with the rest of the population who had judged him unfairly and unreasonably rather then Celeste. When Rob had graduated, he went into Starfleet Academy, like many of his classmates in the early 2370's during Starfleet's buildup to war with the Dominion, his first major test of fire came in early 2373 when he was assigned to the USS Budapest, a Norway class starship, it was here that he was forced to kill several of his crewmates as the ship he was on had been targeted for assimilation by the Borg early in the battle. They had beamed over with several dozen drones and they had been assimilating Budapest crewmen into the hivemind. Connor was forced to slay over a dozen of his crewmates but worse was to follow as he killed his own Captain when she was about to assimilate Ensign Demarest. Lieutenant Samaritan "Sam" Bowers was his section head, the two men mourned their dead and they resolved to carry on but after what happened, Connor couldn't remain on the Budapest after slaying his friends and Captain Sh'Raazn. Connor thought very highly of the Andorian Shen who had a motherly presence on her bridge and she took the time to forge friendships with every member of her entire crew. It was newly promoted Lt Commander Lian T'su who had approved his transfer request and Connor bid the Budapest well in her missions to come as he went off to his next posting, the USS Alaska, she was an older Excelsior class ship and it was here that he would fight the Dominion War in many of her most brutal battles, one of those finally claimed the prize of USS Alaska herself. Connor and many of his cremates would survive as the ship had become a slaughterhouse of her crew, she died in front of Earth Spacedock, buying the Starfleet forces more time to defend Earth from a Breen attack. Connors's third assignment was the USS Columbia, he had been offered the USS Enterprise but he refused, citing that he didn't feel worthy of the assignment or of the ship itself. Commander William Riker understood and so Robert went off to the Columbia instead. He remained here from the last months of the Dominion War until a month after the Shinzon incident when he was offered a posting as second officer and Chief tactical officer of the USS Worchester where he would remain for several more years until he was offered a posting as the first officer of the USS Stapelton Center. It was about this time that Jasmine, his daughter, finally grew up and left home to seek out her own destiny among the stars. Robert gave his daughter her blessing as she wanted to become a Marine officer and while Robert enjoyed his time on the USS Stapelton Center, she was overworked and badly in need of a refit. In Early 2390, Robert Connor was offered a promotion to Captain and command of the newly commissioned USS Massachusetts, he accepted and off he went without complaint or concern. |
