Personality & Traits

General Overview If someone were to tell you that nine out of ten Trills in Starfleet were in either medical or Science, Alec would be that one out of ten. An interesting contrast to most Trill who thrive on science, Alec thrives on the physical, active, nature of the Marine Corps.

Overall, Alec is a smart, calm individual who works hard at any task he is assigned. Though he always shoots for the best results possible, he does not believe that any means to get an end, some things should just simply not be done. Though Alec is easy to get along with, he can be very blunt about how he deals with someone. This can tend to make people keep their distance, but once they warm up to him they understand its just part of his charm, that along with his sense of humor which can seem a bit off depending on the situation.

Having served in the Corps since he graduated from the academy at 18. He is a Starfleet lifer. Alec is well versed in multiple forms of combat to tangling with him is most unwise.
Strengths & Weaknesses + Sharpshooter - Alec is an excellent shot. Often the Designated Marksmen before he transferred to the MP branch.
+ Intelligent - Alec is an intelligent man that can understand most things present to him. He just doesnt show it.
+ Level headed - Key to an Officer, Alec remains calm and focused even in tough situations.

= Alec likes to try and help those who can help themselves, even when they dont want it.
= Odd sense of humour.

- Blunt. Alec prefers to call it as it is.
- Cannot stand idiots
- A bit of a chip on his shoulder - Many find it odd that he is a Marine due to his Trill heritage
Ambitions Alec doesn't have much in the way of ambitions at the moment, he hopes to one day make it up to command a base of his own. That or open a little cafe or restaurant on Earth or Trill.
Hobbies & Interests A surprise to many, Alec enjoys to read whenever he gets some downtime. He also enjoys playing sports whenever he can, having picked up a love for Football (Soccer) while he was on Earth.

Alec has a small collection of old Earth weapons, ones that the Marine Corps of old nations used to use. Though all could be used, he has a limited supply of ammo for them due to projectile rifle restrictions.

Personal History Born on Trill to Martm Rota, an aspiring chef, and Griffon Tanol a joined Trill working at the Trill Science Directorate, Alec is the older of two boys. From a young age his parents tried to tailor him towards the sciences much like his mother, even the possibility of being Joined just like his mother. Though his younger brother Jehra would live up to his mother's dreams of becoming a scientist like herself, Alec always had a penchant for physical activities.

Though Alec was intelligent and got decent grades throughout school, he could almost constantly be found playing some sport or another, or out on a run. About the time he entered his teenage years, Starfleet and the Marine Corps helped to run a Job fair in hopes of getting future Trill's to join the Fleet. Though there was little interest in the Marine Corps from many of the young Trills in attendance, the sound of what the Corps promised they could do for someone like Alec drew him in like a moth to the flame. From that point on, Alec knew that he wanted to join the Marine Corps when he finally graduated. The recruiter at the fair told him to work hard and he might even make the Officers program.

This is exactly what Alec did, from that moment on, Alec worked with a singular goal of making it into the Academy to become a Marine Corps Officer. He worked hard to keep himself in top shape, as well as working hard in academics. By the time he graduated at the age of 17, Alec, though not the top of his class had a reasonable high scores and was able to get what he wanted. Alec applied to the Academy in the Marine program and was accepted. Though his parents were disappointed at the fact he wasn't going into sciences, they were still pleased by the fact he was joining Starfleet in some capacity.

Deciding to take a more physical approach to his service in Starfleet than the typical Starfleet Career. Upon heading to the nearest recruitment center on Trill, Alec was greeted with two options, Starfleet, or the Marine Corps. After talking with the recruiters for both extensively, Alex decided upon the Marine Corps after falling in love with the ideals it represented. With his grades, and after taking an aptitude test, Alec was sent to Thunder Ridge, a Marine Academy for Officer training based on an undisclosed planet.

Training was tough, it included both a University level education for the officers, as well basic training and the School of Infantry training. Alec worked hard though, trying to maintain high grades. Though that wasn't always successful, Alex did his best and worked hard.

By his fourth year, Alec as one of the top cadets in his class, with good grades in his academic classes and have excelled at Basic and School of Infantry, Alec was chosen as a small group of Cadets that were going to Starfleet Academy back in San Francisco for a competition between the Security Cadets and the Marine Cadets. While there, Alec worked hard to prove the Marine Cadets were more than just 'a bulldog' as most Fleeters saw the Marines. Though it worked mostly in the eyes of some, the Security Cadet still had several issues, getting so far as to an all out brawl in an off campus pub between Marine Cadets and Security Cadets.

Even with the reprimand on his record, Alec graduated near the top of his class. Commissioned as a low First Lieutenant, Alec was assigned to an Infantry unit as their new commander. Though a majority of the enlisted gave him a hard time, Alec being a green officer and the majority of them being seasoned riflemen, Alec had a interesting time at first trying fit in. Alec finally earned the respect of his men after the outbreak of the Dominion War and their first skirmish with the Jem'Hadar.

Alec's first taste of battle was on Jorgan 4 near the Cardassian border, his unit in particular was assigned to protect a key communications outpost on the planet. The Jem'Hadar struck hard and fast, wiping out almost half his unit before they even knew what was happening. Though the day was eventually lost, Alec was able to get the rest of his unit out of the combat zone with few more casualties. That was the day he won the respect of his unit.

For the next year, Alec fought in several skirmishes between the Dominion and the Marine Corps. Though he lost many men, he saved just as many, and worked hard to keep his men alive. By 2374, Alec's unit was merged with another due to low personnel, though many of the new men still didn't accept the idea of a rather young CO in comparison, the men from his old unit quickly swayed them.

Though it was rather quick, in early 2375, Alec was given a wartime promotion to Second Lieutenant for his valor and leadership skills.

Alec continued to fight in the war until it's end in mid 2375. After the end of the war, Alec's unit was rotated back to Camp Lejeune on Earth for rest, resupply and rebuilding.

After several months of additional training and rest, Alec was ready for a new challenge. Though he enjoyed working with his unit, Alec wished to better himself and get some tougher assignments. To do so, he applied to enter the Force Recon school and was swiftly accepted due to need of more personnel, as well as his exemplary war record. After a good bye to his unit, Alec was transferred to Camp Pendleton in California.

Here he was assigned to help teach new marine cadets the ropes and it was honestly an assignment that he hated, he hated always having to clean up after recruits that wanted to go home and were unsure about being here but somehow Alec lasted here for two years before sticking in for reassignment, citing workplace fatigue.

Alec considered transferring to the Military Police branch of the Marines but in the end, he decided that enough was enough and requested to transfer out of the Marines and into Starfleet security with the rank of Lieutenant junior grade

Some saw it as a betrayal of all he held dear but others could understand why he did what he did. In the end however the choice was his to make so he ended up transferring to the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards where he learned the ropes as well as everything he needed to learn to do his job right before he was posted to Starbase 12 and there he remained from 2381 to 2393 before a screw up saw him being demoted and reassigned to a starship in the field.
