| Personal History | Lieutenant Sandra Monroe was born on the colony world of Utgarde in the Taurus Reach, in 2368 to a human mother and a Klingon father, both were eager to escape the oppression of the Klingon Empire by any means necessary and their child was raised with those tenants in mind. She grew up on Utgarde as a happy child, free from the terror of war until it sought to claim her when the Dominion conquered Utgarde as part of their opening invasion of Federation space, the colonists, however, were permitted to live as they choose, so long as they obeyed specific rules. The Dominion were the ones enforcing this and not the Cardassians. Many of the colonists, however, decided they would not remain as Dominion subjects but before much could get done in the way of resistance, the Federation retook Deep Space Nine later that year and forced the Dominion to retreat from their conquests in Federation space. The rest of this girls childhood was relatively peaceful but she found that in the Dominion's exodus they were relatively well ordered, no looting or pillaging whereas the Cardassians loved it when they fled, the civilians took up arms and drove them out. Sandra was armed with a phaser as she caught a Cardassian officer trying to rape her mother, she lifted her phaser and she disintegrated him after she threw a rock at him. Sandra was not even ten years old and she had killed someone, she told herself it was to protect her mother and then she told herself it was in her own defense, both would have worked except its one thing to defend someone but it is quite another to take another person's life. Sandra would spend the rest of her childhood coming to terms with such a violent event but over the surface of it, she did only what she had to do because when the Cardassian overpowered her mother, he would have then raped little Sandra as well. Once Sandra realized this for herself, she was able to process the vent much easier. Sandra went off to the academy at age seventeen in 2385 and her education there taught her so much, her eyes were opened to the possibilities she had at her fingertips and she went for it, displaying great skills in mechanical engineering as well as warp theory and various construction techniques. She graduated fifteenth in her class due to various technical issues which she needed a little more time to master but she was offered the chance to work on a new Federation starship, the USS Manticore, first of her class and of her design, she was a new destroyer designed with the lessons of fighting the Dominion and the Borg together. Sandra loved the assignment and earned herself a promotion from Ensign to Lieutenant Junior grade, also she showed she could lead people as well as organize efforts so she was offered the posting of Chief Engineer aboard the USS Clydesdale, before moving along with the rest of the crew to the newly commissioned USS Prinz Eugen, as her Chief engineer. She accepted and today she serves on the USS Prinz Eugen as its Chief Engineer or as she calls is 'the Chief Shipmaster'. |
