| Personal History | Born in Gaspe Quebec Canada on Earth to Darlene Smith. Growing up he had no father, his mother never told him who he was except that he was in Starfleet. Since he didn't know the name of his biological father or where he was stationed he was unable to look him up. He had a tremendous urge to join Starfleet even though his mother had tried to dissuade him from joining. In 2370, when he came of age he joined Starfleet with his mothers acceptance knowing that she could not stop him. While in the academy he took training in security and tactical and was pretty good in both field, it was here that he started searching for the biological father he never knew but came up without a trace. After graduation he was offered a position on the USS Freedom. On the Freedom it went pretty rough, it was in several large conflicts with the Dominion and the Breen. The Freedom lasted until 2375, when it was destroyed in the battle for Betazed, all hands made it off before it went critical, but right after they were taken captive by the dominion and sent to POW camps near Cardassia Prime. In the POW camp there were training camp, recreations of federation colonies, they were given weapons supplies, everything to train the new Cardassian, Breen and Jem'Hadar soldiers. Michael had lost a lot of good friends there and quickly became known as a good leader in the group. Within the next few months, he had been moved from one training camp to another this time for some reason they put him in with the Klingon recreation. It was difficult there, proving himself to the Klingon warriors, he quickly was approached by Klingons testing him and his courage. He had proved his worthy and quickly became respected. About four months after this the war ended and they were rescued, with a new Chancellor running the empire which had a great deal of influence with the federation, the Klingons were accepted back into the Klingon fleet without any damage to their honour. Michael was sent to Starfleet HQ for debriefing with the rest of the Freedoms crew that was left, which was a total of 17 out of 452. After the debriefing he applied to a posting on the Enterprise, he was accepted. With a promotion to lieutenant junior grade. With the Baku incident over with the next few years became very dull, at least with all that happened the past couple of years before in the war. In 2379 while on leave on Earth visiting his mother Darlene, he was helping her move out of the house she was living in and found several old letters addressed to her from a David Carey, although the letters were old they had a story to tell. When Darlene found out that he found out about him he told him that before he was born she was going out with a Starfleet Academy cadet which was 7 years younger than she was. It was a romance that lasted only several months, until he was shipped off to his first posting. He never knew he was a father so they broke up and never talked since. After hearing this he tried getting hold of his father, but to no avail there was no way, he was in command of the Evolution which was currently on a classified mission at the moment. After his months leave he returned to the Enterprise for one more years service on that ship. After his service on the Enterprise he volunteered for the officer exchange program to the Klingon fleet, he was accepted into the program and given a position of weapons officer on the Klingon bird of prey I.K.S qeylIS'e' this exchange was to last six months but since one of his old friends of the camps was commanding the ship he convinced the high council to extend the program to two years. After the two years were finished he returned to Earth and is awaiting his next assignment. After Simmons was captured by the Tal'Shiar, Smith was tasked with putting together a rescue team alongside Colonel Bazailt Kre'don of the USS Luther's 2nd Special Operations Division. As a reward for the timely rescue, Simmons promoted Smith to Full Lieutenant as his final act as Commanding Officer. His promotion didn't take effect until September, when he was assigned to the USS Resolution-A. Michael Smith has more reprimands then anyone else in present Starfleet service but he was protected from harm by Admiral Berg Houges and George Pitzeroon as he was promoted and demoted while going between a half dozen assignments, many of which never lasted long until they finally sent him to the academy but after a year there, a scandal came out of him sexually assaulting a female cadet. He was quickly posted to the shipbreaking yards on Azod to get him away from the storm that was breaking on Earth, somewhere he remains to this day before being handpicked for service on the USS Argonne as their assistant Chief of Tactical. He was given a chance to earn a chance of redemption on this assignment and he took it for all it was worth, he turned his life around and reformed himselfm, even while the ship was im the midset of undergoing soem very serious issues. Michael decided to switch into Starfughters, citing a need for a change of scene and a chance for a new start, this was approved and Captain Torilla Yamaguchi requested him to become the deck boss on the USS Grey Wolf. Smith accepted and off he went to his new assigment. |
