| Personal History | Rachel Haig was born in the late evening of March 19th, 2351 to then 2nd Lieutenant Elizabeth Haig and 1st Lieutenant Andrew Haig in the German City of Bonn, her childhood was relatively peaceful as she grew up in Bonn and later Berlin, an Englishwoman in a number of German cities, she learned the arts of medicine from her mother who spent time as a medical officer for the Marines before she went to Marine Command school on Mars. Rachel grew up with a Brother named Ryan and a sister named Patty as her father was mostly stationed on Earth as he slowly moved up the ranks from Lieutenant to Captain to Major and then getting his own Battalion when he was Promoted to Lt Colonel. Rachel spent time in the mountains of Europe and Asia as she went on local school trips as she likewise discovered her own innate talents in medicine as she discovered a thrill of speed and sports, suddenly her grandfather who was the Earl of Haig died and she got the title of the Lady of the House of Haig, the title was always there from Birth but she never really bothered to learn about it and now at the tender age of eleven, she found herself having to deal with it. When she graduated school at age 18, she entered starfleet as she chose to enlist rather then go full academy. While she excelled, for her it was no different then regular high school as she simply passed her classes. Her biggest downside was her lack of a social life but that had never stopped her before and she wasn't about it let it stop her now. Rachel chose to do her internship on the USS Lord Nelson, one of the newer Akira class ships built for the expected Borg attack in the late 2360's to early 2370's. Upon completing her internship, she transferred to the USS Orion, she was the first of her class and was designed as a fast explorer, the second of the Akira-family of ship designs, all sharing some of the same features like the nacelles for one, she served well here earning the Pulaski star of medical achievement as well as her first purple heart, it was during this time when relations between the Federation and many of her neighbors began to disintegrate because of the threat from the founders, the USS Orion began patrolling the area around where the Klingon's had seized several of the Cardassian Colonies along the Bajoran boarder, the ship was attacked several times allowing Rachel to practice her hard learned skills. After the Second Borg attack which Rachel helped with the defense of Earth as the Orion was assigned to Admiral Hayes 2nd Tactical Wing, the Orion assisted with the Destruction of the Borg Cube, she transferred over to the USS Dreadnought where she fought in many of the major battles of the Dominion War like the Battle of Tyra with the USS Dreadnought being one of the 14 ships to escape from the disaster to Operation Return, to the Vulcan and Bolian Fronts. The USS Dreadnought's most dangerous mission came in late 2374 with the fall of Betazed, in preparation for the inevitable counter-attack by the 2nd Fleet, the Dreadnought attacked the Betazed outer defense perimeter, demolishing a half dozen Jem'Hadar fighters before withdrawing with moderate combat damage, two hours later she came back with a half dozen tricobalt warheads ready that were used to demolish two orbital control stations and another nine weapons platforms before they were brought online, the 2nd Fleet arrived shortly, saving the Dreadnought from destruction as they crashed into the Dominion Lines, the attack itself was a failure because the Dominion sent another 60 ships to Betazed. The assignment of Ensign and Later Lt jg Rachel Haig to the USS Dreadnought was he best assignment as she earned the Grankite Order of tactics here as well as the Preantares Cluster, she also earned another two purple hearts during her tour of duty here. After the End of the war, Rachel was transferred to another Galaxy Class ship, this time it was the the USS Barham, however this ship was a few years older then the Dreadnought and one could see the age of the ship so she transferred over to another ship after the gateway crisis, her next assignment was to the much smaller USS Warspite, one of the newer Defiant Class ships and she was here for almost two years where she earned the Presidential Unit Citation and the Andorian Battle Star while serving aboard this ship. In Early 2380, Lt Rachel Haig was transferred over to the USS Crescent, one of the newer Steamrunner class ships where she served as the chief medical officer, also while she was here, she spent most of her free time earning two degrees in general medicine and one more in pediatric medicine, this wore her out so she took some much needed shore leave for about 2 months, she returned to Earth for much needed time off. When she returned she was much refreshed as she settled in to enjoy this posting. Also while she was here. Rachel met the man who would become her future husband, Lieutenant Javier Morales was subtle about the matter but it was a rather tragic incident on the Crescent which caused her to realize that Javier Morales was the right man for her, there was an accident which claimed the lives of four of the crew, two of them were the parents of a toddler who was now alone. Rachel filled out adoption paperwork for her before Javier proposed to her. Rachel accepted and the two of them were wed before she found out before she was pregnant with twins. When Morales was posted to the Marathon and then over to the Charybdis and later to the Courageous. Rachel followed in silence as she didn't mind where she was assigned, so long as her family was working together. Captain Yamaguchi was willing to work with her on the matter as she too was a mother with young children. Her assignment to the USS Tigers Claw reflects her philosophy on life, her husband and children are still with her. |
