| Personal History | Kira Iresong was born in 2358 on Valos Two. She was an orphan as her mother died giving birth to her and her father had been killed, presumably by Cardassians on Bajor. So she was taken in by Mark Iresong, a Starfleet officer on assignment to support a small relief effort of the Bajoran colonies that were in Federation space. Mark brought the young child home with him to his home on Luna when his assignment ended and he told his wife to raise her as their own. Meru had no real objections to the matter as she cited. "We have five, whats one more?." So the matter was permanently put to bed and Lessin Kira became Kira Iresong, Mark stuck in the paperwork for her while he was on assignment and Starfleet approved it while the civilian agency had issues with the arrangement. Mark cited that she had no living family left and had he left her, she would have died, it was that simple really. Kira grew up among her various siblings as a happy and much-loved child, all through school and high school. She went into various security training programs as she watched the news, citing events going on as she felt she wasn't prepared enough. At age twenty she went into the academy, a person who was prepared for war in various different ways, she did well at the academy even if she was somewhat standoffish. Most of the time she wanted to be left alone while she was at the academy. It was in her fourth year that she met Elena Aries who had just enlisted in Starfleet and was heading off to Boot camp for her flight training. The two women hit it off and they remained in touch. Kira went off to her first assignment a year later, the USS Inverness, an Akira class ship where she flourished among the Scottish natives assigned to the ship. It was here where she was reunited with Elena Aries and the two women simply picked up from where they left off, the two began dating within six months and they were married within a year. In late 2386. Kira was promoted and assigned to Starbase Fourteen for five years while she dealt with several cases regarding smuggling from the base when the ringleader of the ring was caught, she stuck in for reassignment and was promoted again.
