| Personal History | Commander Nathan Hanson was born in 2349, on the colony world of Actium. This was an unusual colony world in that it had a great deal of volcanic out gassing as the world was a dark one orbiting a Gas Giant named Circumference. Nathan would grow up to relish life on this world as it was a small colony which did well in attracting numbers to the world. A lot of scientists made their homes here as they sought to explore and chart this world. Nathan Hanson found himself assisting with a lot of this work in his early years, this was what shaped the man he would later become. He joined starfleet in 2366 as a scientist himself interested in planetary sciences and geology. He showcased his work time and time again while at the academy but he also didn't neglect his martial studies either, he became very adept at defending himself and others, even going so far as to earning his snipers certification, it was something he would maintain throughout his entire career. He graduated the academy with honors in 2371 and was assigned to the USS Irresistible which was a newly commissioned Galaxy class starship for his first assignment, he remained here for the next couple of years fighting the Klingons, the Dominion, Cardassians and lastly the Borg as Nathan got sick and tired of fighting endless wars and in 2377, Nathan went over to his next posting Hanson found his time on the USS Irresistible to be highly interesting as the Irresistible was off on exploration assignments on the far side of Cardassian space for the better part of five years, upon his return and was promoted before being transferred across to the USS Implacable. This ship was always doing boarder patrol assignments but he had opportunities to showcase his skills and various abilities over the duration of his assignment to this ship. His assignment to the USS London would change his focus forever when an accident happened and most of the senor staff were either killed or incapacitated. Hanson was left in the unenviable position of having to assume command for the first time in his record but he did so and was able to save the ship and almost his entire crew, his commanding officer recommended him for a promotion and a stint at command school to see what Nathan Hanson was really capable of. After being encouraged to consider it Nathan accepted and went off to command school where he remained for two years, doing the command classes required of him. He graduated and was reassigned to the USS Bulwark, an Akira Class ship where he continued his chief science officers duties as well as gaining command experience with bridge shifts for the better part of a year before he was reassigned to another ship which had an opening for someone of his skill-set. The USS Venerable was an older ship of the line on her last tour and command requested Nathan Hanson to help sort out the red tape regarding her decommissioning and the like. Hanson simply went to work and while he did come to relish and enjoy his assignment, he knew it was always going to be a permanent sense of sadness for as long as he was assigned here. USS Alexander the Great. A newly commissioned Sovereign-class was looking for an Exec and after his assignment was completed on the USS Venerable. Nathan was offered the posting of Exec and he accepted, now he remains aboard the USS Alexander the Great learning all of the ins and outs of command. When the Alexander the Great went in for reassignment to a new Captain and crew because she was re-designated as a Light Cruiser rather than a Heavy Cruiser thanks to the military reorganization act. She and the rest of the crew were reassigned to the Guardian Class. USS Shield of Wolves In late 2393, his chance for his own command would dawn as he was offered the command of the USS Song of Peace, he would accept and leave the Shield of Wolves behind forever. He had greatly relished his experience on that assignment but he knew he was ready for his own ship, this was why he accepted in the first place. |
