| Personal History | Odessa "Smoke" Martell was born in 2362 on Vega Colony as number five out of ten children that her father Oberon Martell have with four different women, he claimed them all as his and offered to raise them without the assistance of their mothers if they so desired. Three of them turned them over and departed but they remained in touch. His wife, named Ellaria fathered five of his ten children and the rest were ones or twos. Odessa was raised in a happy and trouble free childhood despite the fact that she had nine siblings. She had her own spaces to grow and prosper. It was a chance encounter as a boy was drowned by accident at a pool party and she went into action, having some ideas of what to do as she revived him, the incident made her into something of a local heroine but it was her mother who spurred Odessa into action on her life's journey. "You save lives... that's a most honorable goal for you Odessa... you had no idea what to do... didn't you?" "Nope... but I had an idea though mom." Odessa responded. "I tried it... because I couldn't stand by and do nothing..." Odessa graduated high school a few years later, as she went along she learned all she could of medicine and upon graduation, she enlisted in the Marines. Boot camp for this woman was highly educational but it didn't break her spirits. Once that was completed, she went off to the USS Boxer where she performed well and she was offered placement at the elite Force Recon School, she accepted This was the first time she met her usual spotter, one Sargent Braelynn "Shadow" Di'Tomasso who as fortune had it, was also an Orion woman. She was one rank then Odessa herself was. Needless to say, the two women became almost inseparable from that point and yet they were a very effective but somewhat lethal combination. Also, their personalities meshed and they turned into something of a comical duo. The two were assigned together ever since and now Odessa holds the rank of Gunnery Sargent aboard the USS Argonne in an effort to bolster the numbers assigned there. |
