Personal History Elizabeth's career started when she enlisted in Starfleet at 18 with the intention of only serving a minimum detail in order to get out and see different parts of the galaxy while she was still young. However, her entire life plans up until they were quickly turned upside down the very first week of her very first assignment. While on assignment at Starbase 103 in the Lorenze Cluster as a stellar cartography specialist she was both witnesses to a murder and victim of a resulting assault. At that point, Elizabeth was inspired by the sector JAG's prosecution in the matter, and Starfleet Security's investigation, to find her way into a path into a law career.

After completition of a six-year joint program at George Washington University and Starfleet Academy, Elizabeth was assigned as a lieutenant to the Federation embassy on Romulus. Her primary duty was as a litigator helping to assist in the formation of better relations between the two governments. Unofficially, however, she was tasked with helping Federation citizens to be properly represented in many cases against the harsh Romulan courts governed by the Tal'Shiar. Helping to ensure fair, balanced cases with proper and evenly distributed sentences, Elizabeth spent two years immersing herself in not only the Federation law she was familiar with but also Romulan law.

When the Romulan Star Empire entered the Dominion War in 2374 and more able-bodied officers were needed in the main fleet, Elizabeth was recalled to the Third Fleet to serve as the first officer of the USS Venture. During the war, the Venture served during most of the major engagements up until the final Battle of Cardassia. At the conclusion of the war, Elizabeth was interested in being involved in the follow-up detailed negotiations and settlements following the Treaty of Bajor. However, Admiral T'Lara had different plans for Elizabeth assigning her as the chief prosecutor overseeing several hundred cases in many different sectors of Federation space every year.

With her career spiraling upwards at a fast rate, Elizabeth was proud of her accomplishments. She had also earned a reputation as a hard-nosed prosecutor with a strict code of legal ethics which often overshadowed even her own personal beliefs. She had also been known to bend the rules on occasion to suit the need to earn a guilty verdict in high-profile cases. This, though, caught up to her in 2385 when she had bent the rules too far on a case involving a Starfleet JAG trial judge she had burnt too many times in the past. It resulted in a hard reprimand for conduct unbecoming, however because of her reputation she was allowed to remain as a prosecutor and received a demotion to a commander. More important was the black mark on her service record that would effectively eliminate any possibility of her to gain a promotion in the future.

Realizing this, Elizabeth requested a transfer in the assignment. Temporarily she was assigned as an attache to Admiral Reytan Grax, Commander of the Fourth Fleet, and later assigned per the request of Captain Morkan to the first officer position of the USS Yorktown.

Elizabeth remained as Executive Officer for two years before she was requested to replace the outgoing Chief of JAG on Starbase 12, she decided to accept the posting, realizing that her time in command had softened her somewhat. Her time on Starbase 12 was highly educational for her but when she was posted to the Taurus Reach, she was promoted to Commodore because the position demanded it.
