| Personal History | Nicole Vollen was born in 2352 on the colony world of Paradise Falls, it was a lush and rich world with two greatly expanded temperate zones as the world was just finished emerging from an extended ice age so the megafauna and megaflora both were in retreat, leaving massive areas for people to inhabit. The Vollen family settled here and while they remained here for the first few years of Nicole's life, they soon uprooted and moved back to Vega when the news of the Cardassian border wars might turn into a major conflagration with the Fall of Minos Korva. The Marines were able to prevent its fall to the Cardassians. Nicole had to adjust to living on a tropical world rather then a temperate one however she adjusted well. While growing up she got to deal with many issues that usually come up while living on jungle planets, one of them is something called 'Jungle rot'. Its something that usually stems from poor hygiene and bad living conditions. Nicole learned quickly that she had skills and talents in medicine so this was where she spent a lot of her time in her early to mid teens, at her towns aid station. She joined Starfleet when she came of age. She decided to go into medicine and while she did well at the academy, she didn't quite feel her needs were taken care of, her first assignment was frightfully boring and it wasn't what she signed on for so she decided to go back and fly fighters, unfortunately this meant she went back to flight school to learn how to fly. She missed the Dominion War but she kept up with her medical skills and she decided she liked flying more then she liked operating on people in a medical facility. Most of her career she served as an instructor at TOP GUN before she was assigned to Starbase Fourteen, this was where she met her future husband. Novek. Their relationship began slowly and he was the one who made the first move with her, she found herself curious as she watched him eat a steak to himself, it wasn't a big one but she knew that Vulcan's were as a rule vegetarian. After sating her curiosity the two began spending more time together where he revealed that he was due to undergo the Pon Far in several months time, she decided that she would assist him with it by letting him have his way with her. When his time came, the two had only just started getting serious with their relationship but he was also two months early and while it was some of the best sex that Nicole had ever had, it also left her pregnant with their first child. When she broke the news to him a month later, he proposed marriage and then the two decided to try an open marriage with the two free to pursue other sexual partners but neither were really willing to try very hard. The two ended up having two children in all, back to back as she filled out and she gained close to thirty pounds as a result of this, then she went back into the gym to burn off the excess body fat but this only made her look more desirable to other people on the base. In mid-2391, she was handpicked to command the first wing of the starfighter unit aboard the USS Courageous by Nechayev herself. Nicole accepted and off she went. She was also transferred across to Starfighter Command rather than the Navy. After the destruction of the USS Courageous in battle, Nicole was promoted before being sent for training at the Starfleet command school on Luna. after passing her courses, she was assigned to become the deck boss for the USS Shinano. Upon her arival. Vollen was reunited with her husband and children. |
