| Physical Description | The Voloczin are an octopoidal species of large arachnids, slightly resembling crabs, with a single large eye and ten tentacles. The species very much resembles an Earth squid except it can get much larger then a humanoid. The species evolved in a methane atmosphere of a gas giant, and are comfortable in low-g environments. Possibly due to this, they are apparently rarely seen in the outside galaxy, as some have shown alarm at first sight of them and have no knowledge of them. In addition, Voloczin are capable of seeing thermal images in the visible spectrum. The Voloczin language involves subtle non-verbal cues (changes in coloration) that a Human would not be able to register, along with sounds beyond the range of typical humanoid hearing. In fact, the syllables Vol, O, and Czin are the only ones humanoids tend to be able to hear or pronounce, with the rest of their names made up of awkward noises and color tones. The difficulty this causes translating Voloczin names for non-Voloczin has led many members of the species to simply identify by the species' name. When serving on Federation ships, they wear a combadge and all of their labugage is tied through that, along with an equilment toolbelt where they often carry tricorders, a phaser and a dozen or so other tools. Their insides were mostly gaseous, and when hit by a lethal beam from a phaser they can explode like a burst balloon. The gasses from their bodies do ignite, which can be a serious problem to the surrounding area. |

| General Overview | Mev tends to be very blunt in his speech manners and the like, he tends not to waste time with lots of words. He's also extremely different as he doesn't tolerate a lot of people questioning his motives or the way he does things. | |

| Personal History | In 2377, Voloczin served as the engineer aboard a ship owned by a Ferengi named Gaila. The Golden Handshake. Late that year, the ship came under attack from the Urwyzden Pirate gang, the ship was boarded, Voloczin and his mate got into a fight with several of the pirates, Levrin crushed two of them with her tentacles before they killed her with their phasers. Voloczin went mad and killed nearly everyone around him in retaliation. As of 2382, Voloczinm who was known as Mev to his friends, had joined Starfleet and was serving as a member of the Starfleet Corps of Engineers with the rank of Lieutenant commander. He was posted to the USS Fe'garren as Chief engineer, a position he held until the decommissioning and scrapping of the vessel in 2391. He has since been serving as the Chief Engineer of the Federation detachment assigned to the ASFS Ryazar's Shield, along with his former skipper. Division Admiral Talon Yamaguchi who has since requested his assistance with matters aboard the Akurian battlecrusier. Once that assignment was finished, he was reassigned to Starbase Vanguard and he is serving as part of their engineering department. |
