| Personal History | Lieutenant JG Kira Smithers was born in 2366, on the colony world of Tribute. Her childhood was one relatively free of civil strife and she grew up a very happy and much beloved child but she watched the Federation's fighting with its enemies so she felt she had to do something to help others who were not as fortunate as she was in her childhood. When she came of age, her career path was already chosen for her by her own choice years earlier after the carnage of the Dominion War was prevalent for all to see and hear. She needed to only look into her fathers eyes to see the echos of war and thus she decided it would not affect her or her children as she wasn't going to let it happen. She joined Starfleet and she did well, picking up everything her instructors sought to teach her, she was a master of her craft before the end of the first year and she graduated near the top of her class, she got her pick of assignments, the USS Song of Liberty, the second Manticore class ship commissioned into Starfleet service, she helped to shake the ship down and her skipper noticed that she had command potential so she was sent back to the academy to go to the elite command college. Kira Smithers fought her way through the command school classes and she did well at them but what nobody ever expected was her relationship that started with a fellow cadet, a Bolian woman named Tyrian Jaest. Kira was admittedly curious about other species and a same-sex relationship was something she had not planned for but she didn't dismiss it either. After about a year or so, the two women got married before Kira was sent off to her second assignment and her first as a department head, the USS Clydesdale and she was sent here with her new wife, the two settling down to enjoy their relationship and their new assignment together. After spending eighteen months on the USS Clydesdale, she along with everyone else was reassigned to the Century-class, USS Prinz Eugen. In truth she did not mind the move as it gave her more room in her quarters to live in. |
