| Personal History | Lee Jong-suk was born on the New Hasti Colony in 2369, she grew up the eldest of two children and while she was a happy child, she wanted more than simply to live in a happy Federation as she quickly found out that not everyone shared her goals or values. She along with most her generation were affected by the Dominion War when the planet was attacked and conquered by the Jem'Hadar. The Cardassians garrisoned this world for the better part of three months before a Federation Relief force came and drove the Cardassians out using ruthless force, but there was one occasion that would forever be remembered by the young girl as she watched two Cardassians abuse and rape her mother. Thankfully they did not impregnate her but that was a small consolation prize. The small child grew up scarred by what happened, but she would soon get her revenge as during the withdraw of the Cardassian forces from New Hasti, she had somehow gotten her hands on a phaser and she went and murdered the two Cardassian's responsible for what happened to her mother. As she quickly discovered that nightmares of what she had gone through and what her mother went through were two separate events so she decided that rather than run and hide from it. She would stand and confront her fears about it. She soon came of age and then she went off to the academy because she wanted to learn about flight, so while she did well in flight, she found that her skills lay as a WSO, it was here that she showcased her skills. On her first assignment, she found herself being assigned to Jung Tae-yoon as his WSO and he requested that she was assigned to his bird and his person permanently. She decided not to refuse as the two of them worked well together. She was promoted a year later. This arrangement would end when she was hand picked to replace Ripcord as Chief of Conn on the USS Heart of the Tiger. Due to the fact that she had a family present and Athena did not. |
