Azimuth - Part Three

Mission: Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard / USS Enin-Sd
Timeline: 1300Hrs - October 20th, 2393

Captain Holly Gillo smiled as she finished donning her uniform. Today she would be gaining her command as a smile graced her lips, her reverie was interrupted with a beep from the comm system. "Operations to Captain Gillo?" came the unexpected interruption.

Gillo raised an eyebrow but she opted to not complain or protest, she tapped her combadge. "Gillo here... go?"

"Sir... The Admiral is requesting your presence in uniform in Hanger Eleven in five minutes."

"I understand." Gillo sighed softly. "I'll be there." while she thought, moments later, she replicated herself a glass of milk and a doughnut which she devoured quickly then she departed, boots and jacket in hand.

The tall, light-skinned Betazoid female reached a turbolift nearby, she tapped the call button before pulling on one boot then she slipped on her jacket. The doors opened before she could pull on her other boot so she hopped in. "Admiral Lasky's office." she smiled.

The turbolift hurtled to its destination in silence, something Gillo was grateful for as she quickly pulled on her other boot and then she zipped up her jacket before taking a moment to gave herself the once over. The doors opened a moment later as Gillo exited the lift, she made her way to herdestination in silence.

"Morning Chief." Gillo addressed Lasky's yeoman with a nod of her head.

"Good morning Captain. The Admiral is expecting you." the man answered, a cheery smile on his face.

"Thanks," Gillo answered before entering Lasky's domain. "Good Morning Admiral."

"Hey, Holly. You ready to go?" Lasky inquired of the Betazoid woman before him with a smile on his face.

"Yessir. I'm good to go." Gillo answered with a smile.

"Let's go take care of matters then." Lasky then went over to the door, Gillo fell into step next to the other officer, she followed him out the door as they made their way to a turbolift and the only words that were said were "Hanger Eleven." the doors closed and the lift started moving.

Gillo regarded the older officer beside her in silence as he gave the destination as Hanger Eleven. The turbolift started moving towards its destination, a moment later the doors opened and the two women strolled into the hanger where several shuttles were waiting and several more were being worked on. "Chief?" Lasky called.

A harried-looking engineer came over. "Yes Admiral?" he inquired of the older officer before him.

"Which one of these shuttles is mine?" Lasky inquired.

The engineer pointed to one of the shuttles. "That one sir, she's good to go and ready for you." the man explained with a nod.

"Thanks, Chief," Lasky answered before the two officers boarded the shuttle, Gillo closed the aft hatch as Lasky got their clearance to depart the starbase.

The shuttle departed the hanger as Lasky smiled. "I've been wanting someone to command the Enin-Sd for a while now, " she commented as she guided the shuttle across the spacedocks.

Gillo took in the sights of a Guardian class Starship undergoing her final fitting out as the shuttle passed over her and a Guardian-class starship that looked brand new came into view. Gillo read the name. "BB-201 - USS Enin-Sd." she sighed softly. "Hello, beautiful," Gillo added softly.

"Yes... and she's your Captain." Lasky grinned at the other woman.

Gillo smiled. "Thank you."

A few minutes went by as Lasky got clearance to land in the main hanger, the shuttle landed and was secured. Gilo and Lasky exited the shuttle as they found themselves presented with the majority of the crew who were on hand to greet Gillo as the Betazoid took command of her ship.

Suddenly the assembled crew came to attention. "All hands, attention to orders... as of this stardate. Seven Oh Eight Oh One point Three six. ... To Captain Holly Gillo. You are requested and required to assume command of this vessel. Computer. Transfer all command codes to Captain Holly Gillo. Authorization Lasky Two Four Eight Juliet Bravo."

"Command codes transferred. USS Enin-Sd is now under the command of Captain Holly Gillo." the ship's computer answered.

"I relieve you, Admiral..." The tall Betazoid female paused. 'of this... ship.' she thought to herself as Lasky smiled. "I stand Relieved Captain..."

Holly Gillo turned to face the gathering of the crew before her, all were wearing their dress uniforms and all looked pleased to be here. "All hands... As your new Captain... I will try my best to see to it that you are well looked after. I intend to write a new chapter for this history of this ship and of the Federation... So what do you say we all go out and make some memories together..?" she inquired of her crew.

"YESSIR!" the entire hanger resounded with the clarion call as Gillo added. "Dismissed!" and with that said, the hanger began to empty. "Admiral... I'd best go get settled in and see to my new command..." Gillo said in a light tone to the older officer who was standing nearby.

"Good Luck Captain," Lasky answered with a smile on his lips, he turned and reboarded the shuttle while Gillo turned and slowly walked out of the hanger, feeling elated that she had her own command and now she could move forward with her life. Her next stop was to meet with her new senior staff in the forward lounge.
