Mission:
Mission 98: Building Our New Home
Location: Various Locations - Starbase Vanguard / USS Cassini
Timeline: 1145Hrs - September 20th, 2393
Lt Commander Jorge Hular smiled as he regarded his older brother, the two men shared many of the same looks, as they had identical DNA and the same parents. "You ever wonder if the Capellans on the homeworld will ever be ready to go into the stars?"
"No," Neban answered with a soft sigh. "They are still too primitive and many think they won't be ready for anything for thousands of years yet..." Hular answered his younger brother with his own statement.
"I guess I'm just spoilt with the education we got and the experiences I have thanks to being in Starfleet." Jorge smiled. "What do you have planned for after this assignment?" he inquired.
"That's not a bad thing Jorge, really it's not," he commented as he regarded his younger brother with a smile on his face. The two reached the security checkpoint as the younger Hular handed a PADD over to the two men behind the desk. "Hey guys, I'm Lt Commander Jorge Hular, the new Chief of Security."
"Ah, you've been expected sir, welcome..." the Ensign addressed him, looking at him without fear. This was something that both Hular's approved of, Neban was a much higher rank and thus, was also more valuable and powerful than his younger brother. The Ensign read the PADD before he gave Hular the once over. "Thank you, sir, welcome aboard." and with that, he handed his new boss back the PADD he had been given earlier.
"Thanks, guys," Hular answered before he nodded to his brother before he turned and moved through the airlock and onto the Cassini, where he found himself repeating the process of coming aboard with the second security checkpoint. "Permission to come aboard?" as he handed the PADD in his hand over to the security officer before him.
The man who answered was not in front of him. "Granted. Welcome aboard Commander." a male addressed him, the forehead ridges marked the man as a Klingon but it was the lack of them and the prominence of the same which marked him as being part Klingon. "Its good to meet you." his uniform marked him as a commanding officer and the four pips marked him as the ship's Executive officer. "I'm Graev, son of Makar," he added before the two men nodded to each other. "Jorge Hular, thank you, Captain, for the welcome."
"Walk with me Commander and let's get you settled in," Graev answered in a flat tone of voice.
Hular fell into step beside his new commanding officer. "Yessir."
"I wanted you to hear recent events from me," Graev explained evenly. "We have a bit of a security problem brewing as the Commodore aboard is pissing everyone else off," he explained. "She's being overly demanding and when people don't measure up, she is insulting, cold and condescending. Captain Wayne is briefing Commander Tienn on the matter at hand, I am going to brief you with the same matter as we felt you needed to be prepared for the possibility of her being unreasonable towards you."
Hular raised an eyebrow. "Sounds like you got a serious mess brewing here."
"I used to be in your shoes before I was made Executive Officer," Graev answered. "I can't exactly answer her issues without blood as my honor demands so I am forced to tend to her the way the average Starfleet officer would handle this matter... You will meet her soon enough and you'll see why I have my issues with her," he explained to the larger male next to him.
Hular nodded his head. "Makes sense. I assume she's a very demanding taskmaster with a penchant for being unreasonable when people fail her expectations?"
"Yes. All correct." Graev answered evenly as the two men moved down the hallway. "I am not saying you need to arrest her for anything as yet, but I need you to be wary and keep an eye on her. I have concerns I wish to address with her but she will not consider the matters as worthy of her time or her attention."
"So. She's unreasonable and she's an asshole. Good to know... Thank you, sir."
"You're welcome... Welcome aboard Commander. I am sorry it had to be like this but I wanted you to hear it from me." Graev explained. "Rather than have her shove it into your face and you wanting to murder her as many of the other members of the crew seem to wish to do, at present."
"So we have a ship of malcontents here because of this woman and the skipper... Captain Wayne I assume is trying to hold things together until she departs... Trouble is, she can do more or less whatever she likes." Hular explained. "Lovely. Well... I'm gonna go find my new home and then report for duty."
"No need to worry about reporting in as you already did, with me. You start tomorrow at zero eight hundred but as we are in port, you won't be doing anything really exciting unless its related to the redoubtable Commodore." Graev answered before the two men came to a stop at the nearby turbolift access. Hular tapped the call button. "I'll seeya tomorrow." and with that, Graev began to move away in silence, his job was now well and truly finished.
Hular entered the turbolift, he gave his destination and off he went, the doors opened a moment later before he stepped off of the lift, he turned right as he smiled, the doors marked as "QUARTERMASTER" were right before him, so he entered the large office before finding himself face to face with a Vulcan-looking woman except with blonde air. "Hello sir, can I assist you?" she inquired, her accent was oddly soothing to Hular's ears.
"Yes, I'm here for my quarters assignment.?" Hular handed her the PADD in his hands.
The Vulcan nodded her head. "Welcome Commander Hular. I am T'Lee Emerson." she introduced herself as she picked up a PADD of her own before she handed them both to him. "You'll be quartered on level eighteen, inside the ships armored citadel," she commented as she gave him a rather sultry smile.
Hular accepted both PADD's from her. "You seem overly eager to be rid of me."
"Nah, you could always stick around for a while and we can chat," Emerson answered with a smile. "Or is that too forward of me?" her smile only seemed to widen. "Human customs confuse me."
"They confuse me as well. Considering I am from Capella Four... Not Earth and I am as not human as you are." he added. "So... You can ask me whatever you like... Are you free for dinner later this evening?"
"Direct, I like that," Emerson answered. "Sure... In the main lounge, the second level at about sixteen hundred hours. The place will be crowded." she added.
"Sounds good. I will see you there." Hular answered before he hefted the two PADD's. "I'm going to go and settle in... I will see you later." and with that, he turned and departed. Emerson smiled as she watched him leave as he interested her.
