Mission: Mission 103: The Rumblings of Discontent
Location: Various Locations - USS Solemn Penance / USS Manticore / USS Rawalpindi and USS Ulysses
Timeline: 1235Hrs - August 27th, 2393

Across the various Federations ships assembled, the call was heard, loudly and clearly. "This is Captain Anderson, I'm taking command here. Let's do this, guys, open fire to disable."

On the USS Rawalpindi, the Vulcan female presently sitting in the command chair turned to her tactical officer. "Open fire, target their shield generators and warp engines. Fire to disable," she explained as the space around the various ships that were maneuvering and jockeying for position suddenly began to erupt in spheres of molten fire as they exploded from ordinance detonating and missiles impacting on shields and armor plating. The USS Manticore slowly moved forward relative to the Solemn Pennance as she loosed a full series of missiles against the beleaguered carrier, however, the carriers anti-weapons defenses swatted down the vast majority of them so only four missiles impacted against the enemy ships shields.

On the bridge of the Rawalpindi. Lieutenant Selene Dragon was performing a series of scans as she regarded the semi-crippled carrier on the display before her. "Captain, the Solemn Pennance has only a skeleton-crew manning their battle stations, they are severely weakened... They will not be able to keep up with us over time." she paused. "I'd like to jam their sensors, so they can't see what's going on out here."

The Vulcan smiled softly. "Do it," she commented evenly.

Meanwhile nearby, the USS Ulysess likewise moved in, before opening fire with all of her primary missile tubes on her starboard side, she then banked away as the return fire blasted the space where the cruiser had just been. Solemn Pennance was starting to rely upon her phasers whereas the other ships were depending on their missiles to weaken the carrier.

Alex Yamaguchi was seated in her command chair as she regarded the display of the battle before her. "Helm, come about to heading one one six, ready all port side missiles for their one trip of doom," she commented in a light tone of voice. "Stand by aft weapons for release as we pass them," she added.

The Ulysses sped through the battle, launching forty standard missiles at the USS Solemn Pennance, overtaxed as they were, the ship's anti-weapons systems began to lose track of which missiles were the priority as fewer and fewer were being shot down, molten balls of fire were the only signs that these warheads were stopped in flight by the weaponry off of the various ships gathered.

Seated in her command chair on the USS Manticore. Commander Derris Feraan regarded the battle with a calm, dispassionate eye. "Helm, come left heading twenty-two mark three. Standby port phasers and missiles," she commented.

The tactical officer nodded his head. "Yes Shipmaster, The Manticore is beginning to Jam the Solemn Pennance's sensors, they will soon be unable to see what they are shooting at," he commented as a phaser blast missed its mark and found itself dissipating in the vacuum of deep space. Meanwhile, the Ulysess moved in near to the Solemn Pennance before she proceeded to open fire with a dozen missiles from her forward batteries, of these, eight missiles made it to the targets where they proceeded to explode onto the enemy targets shields.

Alex Yamaguchi's attention did not waver. "They aren't launching their fighters," she commented softly. "Mmm.." as she narrowed her eyes. "What's their shield status?" she inquired of the members of her bridge crew

"Under twenty percent." answered her Operations Officer.

"Shift your fire from their shields to their warp drives, shoot to disable," Yamaguchi answered in a gentle tone of voice. "This fight will be over soon." while a rather evil smile appeared on her lips. "Keep an eye on their FTL's. Tell me if they spool up..."

"Yes skipper." came the half-expected answer.

Meanwhile on the USS Fall of Berlin. Captain Leah Anderson regarded the display. "Are there any signs they are trying to get away?" she inquired as she watched the Solemn Pennance's shields flare yellow under several direct hits from standard quantum missiles presently in flight from various ships.

It was Commander Robert Anderson, her husband, who answered. "Negative Captain, they appear determined to hold their ground."

Anderson raised an eyebrow, "Still no starfighters in the skies?"

"Negative... Nothing at all."

"Is Captain Brevik mad?" Anderson asked she had meant it as a rhetorical statement however it was Griffin who answered her. "I've studied Captain Brevik's tactics when he was a teacher at the academy, these are not them. We are not facing Captain Brevik ma'am."

Anderson turned to regard her CHief of the Boat. "What makes you say that Beverly?" she inquired.

"I studied under Brevik, his tactics were considered as recommended reading at the time. He was one who used misdirection and deception in his style..." she paused while she waited for her skipper's inevitable question.

"You think this isn't him?" Anderson supplied the question as Griffin shook her head. "No. I am convinced that this is not Brevik... Brevik would have launched his fighters to swarm us while retreating, this guy is wanting to make a stand because he's got nowhere else to run."

Anderson turned to her tactical officer, a comely Bolian female named Hiraxea Gadiwat. "Hiraxea began bombarding them with a series of high energy tachyon pulses, when they reset their shields, beam a warhead over to destroy their primary shield generator." she paused. "Order all other ships to do the same."

"Aye sir." the comely Bolian answered, as she went to work at her panel. The Fall of Berlin and the other ships present all still continued their intricate dances as they fought with and shot at each other, with errant phaser blasts often finding nothing but just as often, landing on enemy Federation ships with all the power they could muster. One standard quantum missile too many landed and the shielding of the Solemn Pennance suddenly collapsed.

Anderson tapped her combadge. "Anderson to the Marines, commence Operation: Guillotine."

"Copy that, commencing." responded a female voice that Anderson knew to be the Major commanding her marines.
