Captain Jordal Hunt rose to his feet, he tapped his combadge. "Hunt to Cullen. Ennis, could I ask you to drop by the ready room please?" He asked politely. Rachael Yamaguchi-Cullen had just departed a moment earlier and now it was time to finish this matter between these two, once and for all.
"Right away sir." came the response. Ennis was sitting in his office as he taped away at his last piece of paperwork before he went on leave. A good ten days as he could leave his children with his wife's family. He was looking forward to ten days of spending time with his wife, just the two of them alone with ten days so they could have all the sex they wanted. He knew Rachael had been looking forward to it for weeks. He was just placing the PADD into the done tray when the com beeped at him.
He tapped his combadge and answered it. It was a request to see the skipper in his ready room. Cullen didn't argue as he rose to his feet and departed sickbay a moment later.
Cullen went over to the ready room door before he knocked. He was then permitted entry. He entered after a moment before he went over to where the skipper was standing behind his desk. "What can I do for you skipper?" Cullen inquired. It may be formal but then it may not be and he also did not know why he wanted either.
Hunt regarded his Chief Medical Officer. "I assume you are aware of recent events. Namely Executive Order One one nine. Regarding the recently Tholian situation." he commented.
"I do," Cullen answered. "Anyone with families on Starships now has to make alternate arrangements for their children's safety and upbringing," he explained. "Rachael and I are both fully aware skipper.
"I assume you won't be parted from her?" Hunt inquired. "Hell, the same as I do not wish to be parted from Luhanna. She's just become pregnant."
"That's fantastic news skipper." Cullen smiled. "I assume she's going to Vanguard?" Cullen pressed further
"She will be taking over as Commander of Vanguards science division," Hunt explained. "So. Back to my question. You do not wish to be parted from your spouse?"
"With all due respect sir?" Cullen paused. "That last separation nearly destroyed our marriage. I cannot do that to her again and I won't. I'm sorry skipper." Cullen answered.
Hunt grinned with that statement. "Not quite as ugly as I was expecting."
"I do not need to resort to vulgar language. I speak as I wish to be understood." Cullen paused. "Besides... Right now Rachael and I are among the last to have children aboard."
"You'll always be welcome here Ennis..." Hunt smiled across at the younger male before him. "but all of that said... I need your assistance with your replacement." he commented as the light-complected man sat back and made himself comfortable. "I've been looking through the medical database for someone who would jump off the page at me but for some reason... I didn't select anyone."
"Okay. let me have a look." Cullen answered. "Let's see..." he paused. "You will want someone who is experianced. Someone who is a higher rank. You do not want a rookie." he tapped in his requirements and three names appeared before them. "These three should suffice for your needs. Each is highly skilled and I've served with all three. Any one of them will serve you well."
Hunt tapped the first name, it was an officer who was a Tellerite female. He went through the Tellerite's request and it said a colony or a ground base. Hunt found himself very quickly removing this one from his consideration. "Well. That didn't work. Let's see who else is available" Hunt commented.
Hunt paused as he regarded the two names, One of them was named Solin and he wore the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Hunt tapped on the man's name. His file appeared and it indicated that this was a man who had an almost extreme level of experience. He was decades in this field and he also had most of his assignments running hospitals or sickbays. Indicating he had a high level of administration experience as well.
"What about this one. Solin..."
"Mmm..." Bishop paused as he regarded the male before him. He smiled as he regarded the middle-aged Vulcan's features. "He doesn't look like much but that does not mean anything," he commented.
Hunt raised an eyebrow as he opted not to press further. "It says he's skilled... He has over a dozen or so degrees from Starfleet medical," he commented. "Maybe this is the one..." he added.
"Let's call him, and ask him directly," Cullen answered.
Hunt nodded as he went about the arrangements.
