Posted on Fri Mar 13th, 2020 @ 9:12pm by Division Admiral Thomas Lasky & Commodore Siaxx "Bluemoon" Dvald-Vaxx MD & Post Captain Plataea "Phantom" Lasky
Mission:
Mission 94: Shattered Shields and Crack'd Swords
Location: Lasky's Office - Akurian Vessel Cosmic Noble.
Timeline: 0900Hrs - September 1st, 2392
Today was Commander Thomas Lasky's first day on the job as the second officer to the newly created Federation detachment assigned to work with the Akurians on one of their superheavy starships. Lasky was still moving in his items. He had just placed the kitty litter in the bathroom so Shadow and his other cats had somewhere to go. Shadow took that moment to hop up onto his desk as she looked around while surveying her new domain.
Lasky knew that Shadow would either accept his new kingdom or she would not but either way, he would need to make other arrangements for things, none of his other cats seemed that interested in going anywhere with Lasky or Unal as either of them were out and about. Plataea had gravitated towards Fives and Typhoon but that was up to her and Lasky wasn't about to tell Plataea what she could and could not do with the cats that the two of them now shared.
Kurt had been cured of his immediate issues which honestly was a major relief for Lasky himself, he had finished drafting up his resignation letter but now he would not need to send it so he kept it saved under a random file name in his personal database.
There was a knock at the door. "Toodle Dweep"
"It's open!" Lasky called as he sat down behind his desk which at present was nothing more than an empty space, with the exception of Shadow who proceeded to stretch out on her cat bed.
The door opened and in walked Commander Plataea Unal. She smiled as she regarded her boyfriend. "Hey, Tom. I thought I'd drop by and say Hi."
Lasky instantly cheered at the sight of her. "Hey, Plataea. Come on in, have a seat. What can you torment.. I mean visit me for?" he regarded her with a gentle smile.
"Torment..?" Plataea's grin widened. "Well, I didn't think I was that sadistic. I must remember that. But all joking aside, I came because I don't yet have an assignment and I was told that my time on the Noble was finished."
"Okay." Lasky picked up a PADD as he jotted down some quick notes. "I'll look into it for you," he commented with a smile. "I'll discuss it with Jake when I see him later and we'll get back to you. Though I have a feeling you want to do something other than intelligence work."
"I do. I was thinking of going into command. Hell, anything other then what I've been doing. I'm sick of skulking about in the shadows." Unal explained as she slipped her lithe form into a chair across from Lasky, moments later Shadow hopped up on the table before her. "Or I could stick around as your aide. Doing your paperwork, cleaning up after you and picking up your clothes off the floor." Unal smiled.
"I'll see what I can arrange for you," Lasky answered as he watched Shadow proceed to lie down in front of Unal. "I think she is secretly in love with you," Lasky commented, a gentle smile playing on his lips. "She spends more time with you then she does with me."
There was a knock on the door. Plataea raised an eyebrow. "Its Siaxx, she's in a foul mood."
"Its open Siaxx, get your hot little ass-" was as far as he got as the door opened, in stormed Siaxx, a really angry look on her face. "You little bastard!" she growled softly at Lasky. "I knew you had troubles Lasky but this." as she slapped the PADD in her hands down on the table, it sounded off with a loud smacking sound as it impacted the desk. "Go on, read, I'll wait." The Bolian female demanded.
Plataea regarded Siaxx. "What's this about Siaxx?"
"Ask him." the small Bolian shot back, in a quiet tone but she was angry while Lasky slowly moved his hand and with two fingers, he drew the PADD to him. "So.. This is about Rachael. I was wondering when you were going to get dragged into this mess..."
"I'm not going to let you shaft her Lasky. You a piece of her, you go through me!" she growled. "I mean it Tom, do not test me."
Plataea paused. "Okay, I've had enough of this. Siaxx, sit down and calm down." the taller female all but demanded. "Now, what's this about Siaxx... You may answer when you have calmed down."
Lasky read the contents of the display. "Siaxx is pissed off because of what happened on the old USS Roanoke. I used my escape transporter to beam Rachael off of the ship, nearly getting myself killed in the process." Lasky explained. "I should have expected you to get involved with this one Siaxx, you could never stay out of anything."
"Tom, seriously!. Siaxx is upset for a reason. Let's try to resolve this with something other than fighting." Yamaguchi responded with a sigh.
Dvald regarded him, a look of malice in her dark eyes. "Didn't Rachael have one escape transporter of her own?" the small Bolian asked.
"I think she did," Lasky admitted
"Why didn't she use hers?" Plataea Yamaguchi inquired of Lasky.
"I honestly have no idea," Lasky admitted
Dvald regarded him. "I do," she said evenly. "Because she went to the bridge to make sure you escaped. Did you really think she'd let you remain behind?"
"What does that mean.?" Yamaguchi inquired of Siaxx.
"Kurt is her brother," Dvald explained. "Did you think for one second that she'd let Kurt grow up without his father?" Dvald inquired. "I'm her co-mother, I know and understand these things."
Lasky sighed, now suddenly a lot of things were hammering themselves into place inside his mind. "That explains why you are here. Rachael went to you, didn't she..?" Lasky fumed in silence as he processed that little detail.
"Actually... No. Rachael didn't ask me anything on the subject. It was Saki, who was worried about her mother's health so she asked me to handle the matter between you two. So this doesn't become an official problem or so Saki said." Siaxx explained. "But I believe Saki's words were. 'So mom can keep her friend in life'. Unquote. Saki likes you, although, I confess I don't understand why she likes you. It's a great mystery to me." Dvald commented with a sardonic look.
"Guys this isn't helping," Unal commented softly.
"Yeah," Dvald answered in a snide tone. "It isn't helping," she added a moment later.
"Siaxx, say your piece then get out." Lasky snarled at the small Bolian
Yamaguchi facepalmed as she helped her silence, thinking. 'Shit.'
"Oh but I already did. You shaft her with this officially Lasky and I'll make you regret it." Dvald answered softly, her eyes blazing with fire.
"I mean it, Tom. Don't cross me on this.." Dvald glared angrily at him.
"Enough!" Unal yelled loudly. "That is enough dammit!" Plataea yelled loudly. "Sit the fuck down, both of you!" the tall female responded. "NOW!" she added, the demand bounced off the walls.
Lasky sat down in his chair, he turned and got himself something to drink. "Orange punch with a twist of pineapple and lemon," he commented. The replicator sounded with a soft sound that was almost musical as the drink was created. Lasky lifted the drink and drained half of it in one smooth motion.
Dvald sat down in the chair across from him as Unal sat down in her own chair. "Now. Let's try this again. You don't want him to screw Rachael over because of what reason.?" Unal inquired of Dvald, who was seated across from him. "He does have cause..."
"I'm convinced that Lasky here screwed up, he never gave Rachael the order to abandon ship," Dvald explained.
"The order had already been given earlier," Lasky answered.
"Let's not sit here and debate what was done and not done," Dvald responded. "I am concerned that you are letting your own personal feelings regarding Rachael and the other Yamaguchi's get in the way of what you are doing here."
"What is that supposed to mean?" Lasky answered.
"What I mean, my good man... Is this..."| SIaxx paused for dramatic effect. "It means that you are using this incident to send a message to the other Yamaguchi's that if they can't obey the rules then they are history as far as you are concerned," Dvald explained bluntly. "Considering you had a child with one Yamaguchi and you bedded three of them, either by accident or by design." as she indicated Plataea beside her. "You bedded her."
"My relationships are none of your business," Lasky answered quietly.
"When it comes to Rachael and her family, everything is my business." the small Bolian responded. "You were her mentor, not Phoenix, you were the one who helped train her, who encouraged her. Hell, you gave her that first callsign. Talos. Don't you remember... I know she did. Rachael reminded me on the subject."
Lasky sighed, he did indeed recall those events, he also recalled that Phoenix took over training Rachael as he got stuck and bogged down dealing with the effects of the wings issues. "Yeah, I remember. I remember Phoenix taking Rachael off of me. She had more time for Rachael then I did."
"So what went wrong?" Unal inquired, in a gentle tone.
"Rachael can't follow orders. I told her to abandon ship, to get back to the Manticore but instead she came up to the bridge and I had to save her, nearly getting myself killed."
"Except. I checked." Dvald answered. "Nowhere was there any record of any order given to abandon ship." as the small Bolian regarded Lasky. "You can't get her for anything."
"You should have remained out of this. Siaxx. This wasn't your concern."
Dvald rose to her feet. "Then you wish to make this official. Fine." she turned and went to walk out the door. "I'll see your ass in court them." and with that said, Dvald got to the door as Unal commented. "Stop," she said quietly but there was no mistaking the demand in Unal's tone of voice. "Siaxx. Have a seat. You had your say, now I shall have mine." Unal commented.
Siaxx turned around, she came back and slipped her form into a chair. "You've been through a lot recently. You've had a child, had a ship that you earned, almost get demolished out from under you, a command that you had to work your tits off just to get the Exec slot... You've lost people in combat, gone into battle yourself in a ship that's ill-designed for it. Yeah. You have indeed seen and done a lot recently."
Lasky sighed softly. "Siaxx. Wisdom can only penetrate a mind that's open to it and you're not interested in this... are you?"
"You've not told me anything I want or need to hear," Dvald answered him in a dark tone.
"You know what your issue is Siaxx?" Lasky inquired. "I think, you enjoy losing your mind so easily, losing your temper instantly puts others on the defensive well you know something, it's kinda hard to have a conversation with you when you get like this."
Dvald held her silence as Lasky continued.
"I sorted out Lasarra, I handled Camshaft several times, I looked after Toshnarr. I can handle you." he regarded Dvald. "See, I think you enjoy it. Losing your temper that is, because you've been through a lot, you were demoted and then assigned to Starbase Four Hundred to cover us the crimes of others, Torilla was assigned after being stripped of her own command. Really Siaxx. Did you think you were alone in this mess?"
"At times, I wondered," Dvald answered.
"You lost your command and since then, nothing has gone right for you, you've been out of control and personally, I think you enjoy it." Lasky sighed. "You are fast running out of space with your issues Siaxx. Soon you will have gone too far." Lasky regarded her. "I want you to think Siaxx since you are so good at losing your temper," Lasky responded in a snide tone of voice.
Dvald growled ever so softly at him. "Maybe if you weren't so good at running your mouth." she was now getting angry and the tone of her voice said as much.
"Maybe if you weren't so good at losing your mind," Lasky answered in the same tone. "Maybe you'd get somewhere. Now, your issue is with me shafting Rachael. Well, she is one of the few Yamaguchi's I've yet to bed, that however can be-" was as far as he got before Dvald came over the table with her fist, which she drove into Lasky's chest.
"And thank you for proving my point." Lasky's response was with a smile. "You hit like a girl," he added to provoke her.
Dvald hopped out of her chair before she jumped onto his desk and she dove on him. "You're mine." Lasky grinned as he simply caught her and he threw the small Bolian across the room. "Siaxx, you forget what I do for stress relief." as he watched her race across the room as she took a swing at him, followed by another and another.
Lasky parried and blocked all over them, he found her skill was considerable but her form was sloppy and she relied upon brute force rather than finesse. "Oh come on already woman, stop fucking around and hit me."
Unal simply sat back as she watched the two fight, Siaxx throwing everything she had into the fight as Lasky wore her down. She knew that Lasky was going to win this little contest, hands down and Unal was content to allow the dance to proceed.
Dvald eventually stopped as she found she was exhausted. Lasky however still looked as fresh as a priest on Sunday. She was sucking in great lungfuls of air. "Siaxx, you fight well but your technique is sloppy and needs work but that's not your main issue," he commented. "I will deal with Rachael at another time, now I will deal with you. You need to find outlets for your rage because it doesn't work and if you are not careful, you will find yourself being declared an unfit mother and you'll lose your son. Is that what you want?" Lasky inquired of her.
Dvald sighed. "No."
"Good. Then sort yourself out Siaxx and stop losing your temper so fucking easily, you are easily manipulated when you lose it. Now I recommend you go home and have a long hot shower, then go tell Rachael that her issue has been resolved."
"Just like that?" Dvald answered.
"Yes, just like that... Go on, get out of my office Siaxx and let me get some work done today." Lasky answered quietly.
The small Bolian turned and withdrew from Lasky's office, as he fell back into his chair. "Well, that was exhausting," Lasky said softly.
"You handled that well. I confess I was half expecting you to beat the crap outta her." Unal answered in a soft tone. "She would have had it coming." Unal gently petted Shadow who looked unimpressed over recent events.
"Yeah, but that's not my way. I learned that lesson the hard way on the old Roanoke as many of the pilots only responded to force." Lasky sighed softly. "Alright, the first order of business is dealing with the Rachael situation. Let me see what can be done and who went wrong. Was it her? or was it me?" and with that said, he went to work on the issues before him.
