Mission: Mission 88: We Must have Bloody Noses and Crack'd Crowns
Location: USS Fall of Berlin - Deep Space - Near the Mempa System
Timeline: 0900Hrs - June 2nd, 2392

Captain Leah Deepshadow tapped the display on the holotable near the back of the bridge with a lovers touch. She had a smile on her face as she went about starting the meeting she was having with her senior staff except she had almost stopped using the conference lounge as she could handle meetings around the large holotable. Whats more is that she knew she wasn't alone either in this practice. "So.. This is the Mempa System. Looks relatively straightforward enough to me." the handsome female commented, a gentle smile on her lips.

The Mempa system was located in the Mempa sector, in the vicinity of Beta Lankal and Rura Penthe. This system's orbit was the location of a number of planets, twenty-six with some of those orbiting one star and some others orbiting the other star with the last few orbiting both stars. Mempa was a binary star consisting of a type G yellow primary and a secondary type K orange star.

Several key battles of the Klingon Civil War were fought in the Mempa system, where Gowron's forces including those lead by Colonel Martok at the time, suffered a major defeat. Deepshadow read all of this while she looked at the display of the system before her. "So most of these worlds are settled by Klingon settlers then?"

"Yessir." came the response from her strategic operations officer and the man who was also Deepshadows husband. "That's about the long and the short of it all."

"Lovely," Deepshadow responded in a deadpan tone of voice. "What else is happening in the system?"

"Well, it seems that the Klingon garrison there has begun fighting an insurrection that popped up all at once."

Deepshadow raised an eyebrow. "An Insurrection group, well considering the Empire is neck-deep in civil war now. I almost assume it's standard fair now."

"That's about the long and the short of it now sir." Commander Anjohl Nerys responded. "We just got out of the shipyards with much of our battle group," she explained. "We don't need to take the system. Just attack it to make the point."

Deepshadow nodded her head in agreement. "Holding onto Mempa will cost too much and take too long," she commented as she narrowed her eyes while she admired the star system map at the holotable.

Lt Commander Hiraxea Gadiwat paused as she tapped the display with her left hand. "Skipper. Mind if I see a sector map?"

Deepshadow nodded her head. "Sure." as she tapped the display with her hands, and within seconds the star system receded away from the people around the table at a dizzying rate of speed until the entire sector was displayed. Deepshadow regarded the large Bolian female. "Something troubles you?"

The protocol dictated that Gadiwat regards the person asking with her full attention so she did so. "Yes but I have a plan, with your permission?"

"When have I ever denied anyone the chance to speak freely?" Deepshadow asked a touch of amusement in her tone of voice.

The Bolian tapped the star map twice. "We attack these two systems. Hit and fade attacks," she explained with a gentle smile.

A few people turned their heads as the conversations died away as the Bolian explained her plans. "We pop up out of warp in the system and then we shoot at everything in sight, we do NOT need to kill those Klingon ships, they will be diverted to the Mempa System for repairs," she explained. "We overload the yards in Mempa with damaged and wounded ships." she slowly grinned. "We're not interested in taking the systems themselves, but we are interested in screwing with their infrastructure."

Commander Maurice Logan raised an eyebrow "So we crowd the shipyard at Mempla and then we simply fly in and crush them all?" he said in a condescending tone which slipped out before he stopped with a sigh.

"More or less. Yes." the large Bolian female explained. "You don't think we can do it.?"

"Attacking these two systems will elevate the Klingons state of alert drastically in this region, it'll also force the Klingons to deploy more warships and starfighter squadrons into this area to counter our move." she paused. "It's not just a prudent move, it's their only move."

Deepshadow nodded. "Because of the lack of any central control in the Klingon government these days?"

"Well Jm'pok is highly unpopular and he led a war that brought the Klingon Empire to the brink of ruin." The Bajoran Chief Engineer responded with a smile as she nodded to Gadiwat who was nearby. Anjohl knew that the Fall of Berlin only had a small group of ships with her and that this force needed to be careful in their actions. She then proceeded to say as much to the group before her about their shortages.

Deepshadow shifted her attention as she caught her husband's eyes. Robert Anderson nodded. "I don't see anything wrong with this plan but we run two risks, one is that we run out of ordnance and two, we can become overstretched because we overextended."

Lt Commander Ezazaa Sh'zhonek regarded the gathering around her. "We should proceed with this plan," she said evenly. "We're not trying to win a war," she commented. "We are sending a message. That if the Klingon leadership doesn't back down, we have the capacity and the ability to bring this war into their homes on Kronos. For a real change." the Andorian Shen explained. "Anything that helps us in that goal should be considered."

Commander Anjohl Nerys regarded the Andorian female who had spoken. "But at what cost?" she inquired. "We know that life is going to get stupid, the Klingon Empire is already falling apart and we're in a position to cleave off a good-sized chunk of it should we so desire."

Deepshadow spoke up. "I've not heard anything about conquest. I was asked to consider making a strike in the general direction of the Mempa Sector. This is a good plan and I like it." she commented.

Lieutenant Vrajir Leezahl smiled. "I have the threat assessment for your purview should you desire it Lieutenant Commander," he said to the Bolian female nearby, she turned as she nodded. "What do you have for me?"

"The Klingon Ninth Fleet from the Defense Force is located in the sector, home based at the Mempa Shipyards but presently the entire fleet is forward-deployed here in the Cholos'Dah system, located here." the Trill male indicated the system with his finger while he talked. "They are presently tied down with an insurrection that popped up on four of the eleven planets in the system, with fighting reported to be quite intense," he explained.

Commander Drigon Haro sighed softly. "Yeah, and the casualties are likely going to be appalling."

"They are reported to be extremely high. The Commander of the Ninth is none other than General K'Toth himself." Leezahl explained the situation. "He might send a portion of his forces to defend the target systems." he turned to Deepshadow. "If he does, we will be greatly overmatched."

"K'toth is not known for being gentle or subtle." Major Shessaa Brevik spoke up for the first time in this meeting. "He will come for us with overwhelming force when he realizes that we are a greater threat than he's prepared for."

"Lovely." Deepshadow paused. "Alright then. We'll hit this system and then we will see what he does," she explained. "If he comes for us then we'll withdraw but if he doesn't then we'll hit the second and third systems. He might bait a trap for us at Mempa and that's fine. We will get the job done either way." she paused. "Anything else we should discuss?"

The personnel gathered and assembled all shared looks. "Alright. Then let's get on with it." Deepshadow concluded the meeting as she shut down the holotable and went back to her chair in the center of her bridge.
