Picking up the Pieces

Mission: Mission 85: My Soul's in Arms, and Eager for the Fray
Location: Various Locations - USS Roanoke
Timeline: 0900Hrs - May 13th, 2392

Commander Tom Lasky sighed softly as he was standing at the head of the table, a table that was now spider webbed and cracked because of a piece of fallen debris. He had taken a few minutes and removed the debris earlier as he wanted to clean up this room. He heard the door open but he ignored the sounds of it opening and closing. He sighed. "This ship sure has seen better days..." he muttered aloud.

The Kurokuri Admiral in charge of the battle group, Kumirae walked into the conference room asking. "Lasky, so how is the ship?"

Lasky turned his head as he regarded the small being before him. "Well. USS Roanoke is in lousy shape, every single room on the ship has damage and so does every deck and every compartment," he explained. "My senior staff is on their way so we can discuss our options." as he spoke, both sets of doors opened and the people in question began entering the room.

Ra'Vak came in first, sporting a green cut across his forehead and his uniform was singed but otherwise, he wasn't seriously hurt. However, his department was missing a few people. Next came Wukari and Cyrin, then Agar, whom was in charge of operations with Rykar and Hunt out of action, followed by Varkon, then the rest of the department heads.

Once everyone was in the room, Kumirae then informed Lasky and the Crew. "Alright, most of your wounded have been transferred to Ryazar's Shield. The Battlecruiser, due to it having mechanical problems will be heading back to B Kayor, but otherwise, a few people whom you thought were dead, such as your chief operations officer, have been successfully revived by the Akurian doctors. However, they are going to be out of action for at least a couple of weeks."

Lasky nodded. "That's good to know." he smiled. "Thank you." he paused as he turned to Ra'Vak. "Okay, where are we with all the damage.. and how bad is it?"

Ra'Vak pulled out a PADD and listed off the damage, starting with the first major issue. "Well, our first problem is life support. of the ten life support units across the ship, only two are still functional. The rest are scrap metal at this point."

"Alright. Anyone who doesn't need to be on this ship is getting evacuated over to other ships that can use them." Lasky sighed. "Most of our fighters are already adrift in space and are more or less clustered together," he added evenly. "The Marines are planetside and all our battle group support guys are gone already." he paused. "I'm almost afraid to ask... but is this ship even worth repairing at this point?" Lasky inquired.

Ra'Vak shook his head. "Well many of the compartments are open to space. The structural damage is so bad the ship's frame itself is bent and warped. The Warp engines are little more than molten slag. The Shield generator is burnt out ashes, most of the phaser arrays are scrap. Even if we had warp engines the deflector dish has the wing of a bird of prey lodged in it, so it's useless. The Stardrive has shrapnel lodged everywhere. The Warp core barely works. Most of the EPS conduits are burnt out, we've lost 75% of our antimatter pods, the fighter pod itself is a complete wreck making it impossible for us to recover fighters, yeah at this point it would be cheaper to build a whole new ship."

Lasky sighed softly. "So I get to command this ship for only one day and only because my skipper is wounded. Lovely." he sighed softly. "Any good news? at all?."

Kumirae made her decision on the matter," Alright well then, go ahead and evacuate the whole crew from this ship then, looks like she is done for. However, Lasky, I need you to take yourself and about a hundred and fifty of your crew to go to Manticore. She got boarded during the battle and most of her command staff is rather badly injured as well as a number of her crew, but the ship itself is still in relatively good condition. The rest of the crew will be distributed among other ships to fill in for casualties. Also, Spirit of Winter needs several tactical officers and their helm department is down to one person."

Nasao nodded. "I'll go over with a dozen or so of my people. I have heard good things about Lieutenant Yamaguchi, we shall see if he's better or worse than his mother and siblings," she responded.

Lasky nodded. "I'll look over the roster and take whoever the ship needs," he commented with a smile. "What is to be done with the Roanoke?" he inquired.

"For now," Kumireae explained. "The ship will just remain in orbit of Goronar, but when we leave, we will tow the ship off to the breakers."

"Alright.. so that's it then." Lasky sighed. "Everyone. Look through your rosters of active personnel who can be used elsewhere and then send them off to wherever they are needed," he commented. "Anyone who is wounded, arrange for them to be sent over to the battlecruiser for her departure." he sighed softly. "Anything I miss?"

No one else in the room really had anything to say on the matter, some were a bit bummed out that the ship was doomed, others were relieved that their days on the Roanoke were over.

Lasky sighed softly. "Alright. Sounds good." he sighed softly.

Wukari then mentioned. "Alright, I'll send a few of my pilots to help out on Spirit of Winter, I'll pick ones that have lost their fighters."

Lasky smiled. "I appreciate that. Also, can you spare a few extra people to come with me over to Manticore?. I have a feeling that a few of them could be useful over there too."

Fordring nodded her head. "I can go over to Manticore and help out. I'll take half my medical people with me, the rest can go with the wounded over to the battlecruiser."

Mav'a Tiris smiled. "I'll come with you Skipper, I can only spare Jorge Hular however, most of my guys are wounded and some have been sent over to other ships." she paused. "My department is three people at the present time. Jorge, Warrick and me." the female Bolian explained.

"That's fine. What of Warrick Brown?" Lasky inquired.

"I'm going to send him to B Kayor with the wounded."

"Okay." he paused. "Conn. What about you?"

Miraj sighed. "It's only me sir."

"Fine, you can come with me too," Lasky responded. "Ra'Vak. I have the feeling I'll need you so you're invited too."

Ra'Vak nodded while Kumirae then mentioned to Wukari. "As for your fighter corps unit, unfortunately, the carriers we still have do not have enough room to fit all your fighters that have been left in space, however the fighters will be retrieved and placed on the Akurian Battlecruiser and your unit, minus the pilots you spare for conn officers will go back to B Kayor for the time being."

Wukari nodded in acknowledgment, then Kumirae turned to Lasky,
"Well, that's all I have for you now."

"Alright. Any questions before I bring this little meeting to a close?" he inquired, there was silence. "Alright, dismissed everyone, we got a lot to do.. and not a lot of time to handle things." he rose to his feet and made his way to the large wall monitor but he made no efforts to leave. "Ra'Vak, why don't you detail someone to download the Roanoke's database to the Akurian battlecruiser, for posterity."
