Gains and Losses

Posted on Sat Mar 7th, 2020 @ 6:19am by Lieutenant Colonel Brigitte "Crusader" Abbendis & Colonel Thel "Arbiter" Vadam'ee

Mission: Mission 72: T'Would Ring the Bells of Heaven
Location: Various Locations - USS Courageous
Timeline: 0930Hrs - April 1st, 2392

Group Master Thel 'Vadam'ee was seated in his chair in the office he shared with an aide so he could do his administration related work when he came across a notice for transfer. Vadam'ee lifted the PADD and upon seeing the name on the PADD. He tapped his combadge with an irritated grunt. "Arbiter to Direwolf. Please step in here.." he said. No 'When you get a minute' or 'when you get a chance.'

Arbiter had questions and he wanted them answered before anything was happening, the assignment on the PADD was to start on the tenth which meant that Flight Master Sullivan would be departing today, assuming nothing went wrong.

About a minute after 'Arbiter' requested his presence there was a knock at the door. "Enter" the large reptilian being called and in walked the human male he wanted to see. "Flight Master, you are being reassigned to Command the Federation Snow Angels flight team. There is a Ship departing for Earth in two hours from the Starbase, be on it."

Robbie nodded as he receved a PADD with his new orders. "Who will replace me as commander of second wing?"

"Major Abbendis will, she's a new transferee, coming in from Starbase Two Nineteen, this will be her third wing command assignment, so the wing should be in good hands. Any questions?"

"No sir."

"Very well. On your way Flight Master.... and... Good Luck...." Arbiter dismissed Sullivan and with that, the human male rose to his feet and departed, he had a lot to do and not a lot of time to get it done in so Arbiter didn't wish to hold him up.

Moments later there was a second knock at the door. "Enter." Arbiter called out a moment later.

The door opened and in walked a human female, wearing a standard issue flight suit over her starfleet uniform. "Group Master Thel Vadam'ee?" she addressed him formally.

"Yes?"

"I'm Group Master Brigitte Abbendis. Reporting for duty sir." the human female addressed him, her smile not wavering in the least.

"Have a seat." Arbiter responded evenly as he watched the human woman moved forward and slide her lithe form into the chair that Robert Sullivan had just vacated a minute or so earlier. Then she handed him a PADD.

Arbiter accepted the PADD but he didn't read it, he simply set it down on his desk as he would read it later. "You'll be taking over as commander of Second Wing, you'll have three squadrons assigned under your command. The vast majority of those are Gryphon class starfighters but you're number three squadron is a bomber squadron and is fitted with Devastators."

"Sounds good sir.. What about Elint and signals warfare?"

"Third Wing is handling that mission and assignments will reflect that." Arbiter responded by way of explanation. "Unfortunately Second Wing is in a state of reassignment and transit from one type of Starfighter to another so you'll see all three squadrons switch over to new birds before long."

"If you don't mind my asking sir... What are the new birds?"

"Number Three Squadron just finished transitioning from the Scorpion to the Devastator class bomber. Number two squadron is in the process of switching between the Valkyrie to the Intruder class light bomber and your number one squadron is also switching to the Intruder from the Gryphon Bomb variant."

"Ahh thats explains a great deal of whats going on... What about First Wing?"

"First Wing is where all of the gunfighters like to live at present... Unfortunately they will soon be transitioning to the new equipment as well. Life out there flying fighters is getting deadlier and its only going to get worse." The Arbiter sighed softly. "We'll soon have no choice but to switch to unmanned fighters.."

"Lovely." Abbendis responded lightly. "Do you got orders for me?"

"No. Take the rest of today and go settle in, learn the ship and the layout if you wish but you don't start work until tomorrow.."

Abbendis rose to her feet. "Thank you sir."

"On your way." Arbiter then picked up her PADD that he had placed on the desk earlier, she turned and departed as Arbiter tapped the PADD once, activating it as he began to read.
