Caring for the Children

Timeline: 1000Hrs - February 12th, 2392

Wukari, after seeing the situation with the kids, decided to help out by turning one of Roanoke's hangar bays, the lower hangar bay in the saucer section into a large daycare center. The hangar bay wasn't in use due to Ronaoke not having her full capacity of fighters on board, so Wukari decided to make good use of the space. And soon enough in the hangar bay where several hundred Ferasian children. And Wuakri decided to bring along her two cats, pufftail and brightspot along with her. Entering the hangar bay, she ran into Moni Nasao and leadfoot, both of whom where already entertaining a few of the children.

Commander Tom Lasky entered a moment later, Shadow in his arms as she peered down at the small army of Ferasian children. "Think you can lift a few spirits sweetie?"

Shadow meowed softly as she regarded the small army of beings that she didn't know. "So... Wukari... Hows the army settling in?" he inquired of her.

One Ferasian child was already investigating Brightspot and Pufftail while Wukari answered. "Oh they are doing alright now, much of the flight deck crew has found themselves being recruited as caretakers, but they don't seem to mind."

Ironhide meanwhile was entertaining several dozen Ferasian children with a story about a landing mishap gone bad with several embellishments, clearly having a great time.

Pufftail cooed at one of the Ferasian children, a cheetah male of 9 years old and it was love at first sight. Unable to help himself he picked up the feline and cuddled him, exclaiming," Aww' he's so adorable."

Wukari smiled while Niva came in with a carriage, which had both of Wukari's kids in it. Leadfoot looked over at Niva commenting, Hey so, "We now have hundreds of ferasians that can be apart of your day care now."

Niva gave Leadfoot a look while she handed the two infants off to Wukari," Sure, but you better be willing to help. and i hope your ready to be a dad."

Wukari glanced at Moni Nasao's belly, which was definitely bulging by now, saying, So how far along."

"Four months along." Nasao responded. "It was a surprise to be sure.. but a welcome one. Not like poor Sokanon." she paused as Lasky gently set Shadow down on the deck. "I could always bring along my other cats... Shadow, however, is the more subtle one." as the cat sat down on the deck, blinking her golden eyes as she peered at the small army of children.

A ten year old child touched Shadow's nose but he used a little too much force as she moved backwards, she had been taken by surprise.

"Don't do that... Kitty don't like being touched on her nose, its very sensitive." Lasky said as he gently picked up Shadow. "Like this..." as he held out the cat for the child to pet a second time, this time he ran his fingers through her soft fur.

"Much better." as Lasky handed the cat to him. "This young lady is Shadow... She is my companion... so please be gentle with her... and don't worry if you loose her, the ship's computer won't lose her and I'll get her back..."

The Caitian child nodded. "Okay." as he gently held Shadow in his arms. "She's... like me!"

"She's actually from Earth, my species homeworld. She's not a Caitian child or anything else thats Caitian for that matter.." Lasky explained.

"Oh... I thought.."

"Its okay. Its easy enough to see." Lasky responded.

Suddenly a red fox bolted by, and started running around the hangar bay, looking very excited. After a couple of moments running around the fox ran up to the group with a playful look on his face. Wukari smiled, saying," Ah, I see whitetail had the same idea," just as the Eeiaouan approached the group, " Yeah i figured he could use the exercise and attention."

Shadow felt an unknown being gently picking her up as she found herself face to face with an odd looking being covered in fur, he had a funny scent to him or what Shadow assumed to be male. "Meow?" she asked.

"Meow." the Caitian said back to her. Shadow blinked her eyes as he gently set her down in his lap, he felt warm to her touch as she began to purr.

Lasky meanwhile looked at Wukari. "I'll have to drop by with my other various pets.."

Another Ferasian decided to investigate Wukari's two kit's, Sharra and Kuzio, both of whom where only 4 months old at this point. Wukari smiled, saying," Don't worry, they don't mind being picked up."

The Ferasian, only about 9 himself, picked up Sharra and started petting her. "Oh wow she is cute." He then looked up at Wukari, you don't smell like a Ferasian though, but you look kinda similar."

Wukari shook her head. "No I am not Ferasian or Caitian, I am Shiar."

Zarloos kept a carefull eye on his kits from where he was standing, he did not mind having his hanger turned into a gigantic daycare as he simply locked everything down and moved everything out. His personnel had outdone themselves.

Tirion Fordring entered the hanger, he was pushing a large trolly with a rather large replicator on it. "Hey Wukari. food and drink anyone.?"

Wukari looked at the various Ferasians scattered about the room. "Eh, check the children first."

Fordring did just that as the various children began to come over. "Okay kids... make lines and I will feed you all as quickly as I can." he called. "be nice, no pushing and shoving... I will feed you all a meal and a drink each... so no fighting... any fighting and you have to wait until last."

The Ferasians began to line up in two lines as Fordring began to feed the clearly hungry children.

Lasky watched with interest. "I'm gonna go help him." and with that he went over to assist Fordring.

Wukari was kinda surprised at how orderly the Ferasians where being, as none of them tried to fight or argue. She then looked over at Leadfoot and Moni. "So you two looking forward to being parents."

Moni Nasao nodded her furry head. "I am actually." she admitted. "I have plenty of help on the subject.."

Leadfoot shrugged while he gave Pufftail a pat," Yeah I guess I am ready as I will ever be. Wukari' you really do have the cutest cats you know that."

Wukari nodded, while Brightspot cooed at Moni," Yeah they are sweet little ones."

Meanwhile Lasky and Fordring were feeding the children the meal of their choice, they could select a plate of whatever they wanted and a drink to go with it. "Keep it orderly kits." Fordring commented. "If you want more. simply line up at the back... make sure everyone eats before you get seconds."

One young Ferasian, a 12 year old female Snow leopard type named Ki'Skye, came over to investigate Brightspot and Pufftail, having never seen such animals before. Pufftail's reaction to the newcomer was to meow and purr and rub up against Ki'Skye. Ki'Skye responded by giving the small feline a pat.

Lasky noticed the various children reacting to the various pets who seemed for the most part to be enjoying the attention. Shadow meanwhile found herself being held by a smaller the average being she did not know, she sniffed at him before she began demanding to be set down which the Caitian male did so moments later. Shadow looked around the sea of beings before her.

Lasky meanwhile handed another plate of food to another Caitian child.
"One at a time, keep it orderly." he commented.

Leadfoot looked over at Ki'Skye and asked, " So, do you have a family."

She nodded as she picked up the purring Pufftail," I have my siblings, don't know where they are though. my parents dies when i was real young though."

Leadfoot sighed," I know that feeling. Tell you what, if Moni over there doesn't mind, I'll let you stay at our place then."

Meanwhile Moni Nasao came over to where Leadfoot was talking to a young Caitian child. "Hey Leadfoot" she inquired. "Whats happening?"

Leadfoot looked at Moni. "hey you wont mind if we let some of these little ones stay with us for a while, right."

Nasao took note of the Caitian children around them especially the small child who seemed to be hovering around Leadfoot. "If they wish to... Who did you have in mind?" she inquired before her eyes seemed to settle on Ki'Skye. "What about.. her?"

Leadfoot gave Ki'skye and ear rub. "Well, unfortunately she doesn't have any living parents, so I would consider adoption."

Nasao listened as she processed his statement in silence. "What about you young one." she inquired of the small child. "Would you want that?"
she added before she looked back at Leadfoot. "I wanted to talk to you about my most recent test results for the little ones." as she spoke, her right hand moved to her abdomen. "You know how Doctors are."

Ki'skye didn't know what to say yet, so leadfoot asked," What about the results?"

"The little ones are doing fine.." Nasao responded evenly to Leadfoots question. "They are due in May.."

Ki'skye began to purr and cuddled with Leadfoot prompting him to comment. "Yep, she's coming home with us."
