Mission:
Mission 61: The Blood-Dimmed Tide
Location: Battleship Valikier's Flame
Timeline: Feb 10th 2392
Nevanzi looked as the various officers in charge of the operation shuffled into the room. Thanks to the action of a Special Forces team 5 days ago, hey had learned the location of Tekevek's main fortress, and now, they where assembling to take it out. Unfortunately the nature of the target, due to its heavy protection by ground based shutter shields, prevented the Akurian's from simply obliterating the target from orbit. So they needed to commit to a ground assault instead, a job that would fall to the 2-14th combat brigade under Sixth General Vellirun plus any Federation and friendly Klingon volunteers. Leading the space forces will be Captain 2nd Class Arina Maya, leading a group of 3 large cruisers, 4 heavy cruisers and 5 light cruisers, and they would be supported by Plataea Unal leading the Nightstalker, Dusk, Hurgh Mas, and a half dozen other captured Klingon warships.
Vellirun and Arina Maya where the first two in the room and they waited quietly, folloed by all the Regimental officers and warship commanders.
Commander Luhanna Wintersnow smiled as she walked into the room, she regarded everyone around her with an impish grin. "Looks like this willbe quite the show."
"Tell me about it." Commander Plataea Unal responded, she had been confused for her twin who was native to this reality on more then one occasion, but she was not Torilla Yamaguchi. "I expect this is going to be good."
Kralasha found a place but said nothing. She still felt a little uneasy about the company of Star Fleet and their allies.
Nevanzi brought up a 3d holographic projection of House Tekevek's planet Zh'kuar. "This is House Tekevek's base of operations, the planet Zh'kuar. This is our next target, a decapitating strike on the house itself."
Kralasha was hoping that included killing the head of house.
Luhanna Wintersnow grinned. "Excellent. We will destroy them...and their worthless fortresses." she regarded the others present. "Burn their mongrel hides!"
Nevanzi didnt comment on the matter instead Vellirun asked," So what defenses are we looking at."
Nevanzi pulled up the klingon order of battle." Well, House Tekevek is situated in a single fortress city in the tropical region of the planet." Except for this one city, the planet is uninhabited and very wild. Total city population is estimated to be at least 50,000 warriors, 100,000 civilians and possibly up to 500,000 slaves. The fortress city has a Theater shield protecting the continent strong enough to be immune to any orbital bombardment we can throw at it, so we are going to have to go in with a ground assault. Fortunately what space defenses they do have is weak. A relatively small space station and roughly 1 to 2 dozen warships. Our cruisers should make a clean sweep. First our cloak capable ships will do their usual tactic, mine the hell out of the area and deploy jammer satellites. Then the cruisers will come in and wipe out all space defenses."
Nevanzi then turned the floor over to sixth general Vellirun whom then explained the ground operation," Alright, 2-14th combat brigade will approach the planet from the opposite side, where there is very little surface to space defenses. The shuttles and airships will then hug the surface, staying low to avoid AA fire and being spotted, then the Armored, mechanized and Motorized Regiments will land approximately 50 kilometers away from the city walls and deploy their troops, where the units will then proceed by ground vehicles to the city. artillery Vehicles will open fire once they are ready. Once we are landed the aircraft carriers will deploy their aircraft and initiate an aerial attack on the city to suppress AA and any of the heaviest artillery they have, as well as spot targets for our own artillery. Then once AA is suppressed our Shuttle Assault regiment will land on the rooftops of the building and in key areas of the city. If we time it right, at the same time, the armored Regiments will begin their attack. As for towed field artillery, we will only deploy that in limited fashioned, because if additional space reinforcements do arrive, we may need to pull out quickly. So limit towed artillery deployment to just some of the the larger artillery pieces in case we need to evacuate quickly. we will also not be setting up much of a ground command post either, command posts will stay on the lander's and the shuttles. As for the city itself, once the outer walls are breached, tanks should not lead assaults into the city itself, instead have the AA tanks lead armored spearheads into the city. we will free the slaves and as for the klingons, expect no mercy from them, so tell your troops, don't hesitate to show none in return. As for Tekevek himself, Dead or alive, I don't care. One way or another this tub of lard is going down. Also for our federation and Klingon allied ground troops, you may accompany whatever unit you like, or do your own thing if you want, I don't really care which. But for Klingon allies, make sure you have those IFF transponders we gave you turned on that way so our soldiers don't accidentally kill you. Any questions or suggestions."
Luhanna smiled, the plan looked good to her. "Nothing major... Theatre shields are getting stronger all the time.."
"Will we do a systems check with the transponders before the operation? I would be very displeased if they did not and an accident happened." Kralasha asked.
Wintersnow regarded the Klingon female, she realized where she had seen those looks before. Major Daisy Rohr-McKnight who was also a friend of hers except this woman was older and there were differences.
Vellirun nodded to Krashala. "I'm not sure how most klingon units do things, but in the Akurian military, we always double check our equipment just before a combat mission, the officers of whichever unit you are accompanying will instruct your troops on performing the systems test, and they will double check them to be sure."
Wintersnow smiled but she didn't say anything. "Captain.. You remind me of someone I know." she said quietly.
Kralasha gave Vellirun a courteous nod. "We are ready to follow your lead."
Nevanzi then looked around the room," Alright then, this operation will commence at 0600 in the morning, commanders, get your troops and ships ready."
Winterslow nodded and now she decided to act on her instincts. "Captain a moment please." she said to the Klingon female.
"Yes Commander?" She replied to her.
"I mean no disrespect... But you look like a friend of mine.." Luhanna responded. "Major Daisy Rohr-McKnight... Are .. you two related?" she inquired. "I ask only because she is a friend of mine and I miss her company."
"No, I have yet to meet this officer. Is she Klingon? She does not have a Klingon name?" She asked her.
"Not that I know of.." Luhanna responded softly. "But I know she was raised in the Federation... but she doesn't speak of her family.. and I don't ask..." Luhanna paused. "She does have the heart and stomach of a warrior though..."
"Thank you for telling me that. If I have the opportunity I will look for her." Kralasha told Winterstorm.
"Very well Captain." Wintersnow responded. "May Kahless guide your blades in battle.." she said before she nodded, then she took her leave of the area.
