The Trouble with Newbies

Mission: Mission 52: The Astral Winds
Location: Various Locations - Battlecruiser Ryazar's Shield
Timeline: 1000Hrs - December 1st, 2391

The Federation shuttlecraft had just landed as the hatch opened, out walked a taller then average Bolian woman, wearing a medical uniform, she had a duffel over her shoulder, a large pack on her back and a case in her left hand, following her was a Bolian male wearing security orange and behind him was five children, two of them were teenagers and the rest were preteens.

The five children remained clustered together as they were clearly used to following what was clearly their mother and father around the galaxy rather then remain on some colony somewhere.

Commodore Talon Yamaguchi had come to meet her new Chief Medical Officer. "Commander Heris Dvald?"

"Yes?" the Bolian regarded the shorter human woman as she stood before her, she gently extended her hand in the Bolian style, a move that Talon matched with her own hand.

"Welcome aboard. The Akurians do things a little differently then we're used to, we don't have separate bathing facilities in our quarters, they had local areas where they do the whole community bathing thing."

"Community bathing... That could be interesting... So how do I take a bath?"

"Just the same as if you were going to a leisure center or a hot spring, the water is quite nice and can be used by anyone at any time of the day or night." she explained. "Also the dining facilities are also communal as they are having issues with our technology, our guys are working on it and we're a lot further along then we were two weeks ago.."

"Its been awhile since I've been for a swim." Heris responded.

"You'll adjust... But once you do, you'll find that you'll enjoy this assignment, its very child friendly and there is a lot to do."

Heris smiled. "So... who do I see for my quarters assignment?"

"Me." Talon smiled back at the taller woman as she handed her a PADD. "This contains all the infomation you'll need, if you have any questions, the ships computer will be able to answer all your questions... also the ships robots will be able to assist too."

"Robots?" Chief Petty Officer Ranav Grenix inquired as he regarded Talon. "Chief Petty Officer Ranav Grenix, good to meet you sir."

"Ahh... Leave the sir at the airlock, I've never been big on formality, you can address me by rank or by name. I promise I won't be offended in the least."

Heris raised an eyebrow. "We had no idea you were... so... different."

"Well... What can I say?" Talon smiled eagerly. "Well, I'll let you guys go settle in, don't worry about security as our allies handle things... you might be tempted to cuddle them... I recommend you ask first.. but most expect it.."

"Fair enough... We'll go settle in and be ready for work tomorrow."

"This ship is a little different, they are not big on formality so make sure that you address them by name... They'll respect that.."

"Sounds good, thank you... Talon." Heris paused a moment.

"Alright.. I'll leave you to it." and with that, the human turned and departed as Heris watched her go. "She is ... not what I expecting mom." Heris's eldest son regarded his mother.

"Why do you say that?" Heris inquired of her son.

Gwi'on watched Talon as she walked away. "I was expecting rigid and formal." he smiled. "I'll admit... she's nicer too."

"She looks nice.." Dorin commented. "I mean.." he stopped.

Heris chuckled softly, she had a very good idea of what her son was on about. "Come on guys... Lets go settle in." and with that, Heris led her small family out of the hanger towards their new home
